Stanks Switch It Up In 2019

You're an inspiration brother!

No I am a cheap ass masochist!! I have all sorts of motivation until I get about 20 minutes into it...then I am not a cheap ass masochist, then I become a straight up dumbass.

I’ve swung a lot of mattocks when I was younger. I don’t envy you. Lol

Thanks brother, I don't envy me either.....top it off i get to be bitten by may flies and skeeters while I do it. Ya'll would laugh your ass off if I had audio access to me doing it. My language goes from terrible to 'OMFG is he for freaking real'

If you're ambidextrous, switch arms every few minutes. It helps spread the damage around!
I am not....but I do do it....there is definitely a rhythm to it. Now if I would stop hitting rocks, I would be ok!

Thats a guilty look if I have ever seen one. Can't wait.....but I ain't feeding it my ribs!

My dogs eat better than me most times.

Too bad pups don't eat Jambalaya. lol

:surf:

Stank, that's a nice wood chopper there. Yikes!

Might come in handy making a fire?

Will be hard to protect them.

Shoot and ask questions when we wanna make something to eat? lol

Hey everyone!

Just checking in with a quick update. Been cranking out the garden work the last few days and its coming together. Got most of the outdoor veggie garden going but still have a lot to plant. Need to get my lettuce, cabbage, Brussel sprouts, onions, pole beans, and corn planted and then I need to get all 45 tomato plants transplanted. Here are a couple pics to show what its looking like.

After all the planting is finished, I have to start putting in the fencing. The goal is to dig a trench roughly 15" deep around the garden and I will bury the small mesh fencing low to help with moles/voles and rodents getting in. The fence will come up 6' high above the ground to hopefully dissuade deer from attempting to eat our stuff. I know they will hop it if they really want it though. I have seen them jump 10 foot fences with very little effort.

We are going to be rolling into "No Till" out here from here on out in the veggie garden. All about the compost. Will start adding raised beds into the equation starting next year. Will also be ramping up our Bio Char production for the outdoor garden as well. The goal will be to run off all our own stuff without any store bought inputs. Might take a while to get there completely....but thats the goal.

Holy moly Van! Beautiful spot for a garden and I can see why you haven't had much time to spend here. That looks like a serious amount of handiwork.

:welldone:

How do you know the moles and voles aren't already on the inside of the trench when you put the mesh in?
I don't....but at least then I will keep any additional bastards out of the garden.

And thank you! We love the garden area (except for the freaking May flies and skeeters that try to eat me alive any time I step outside) and can't wait to keep doing more! Soon I will resume construction on the wood shed and the outdoor fire pit. Lots more trees to cut down and thin out. Its coming together brother!

Brother I'm wishing you got the tiller going from here! That's a garden,
Yeah it would have been nice if I got it going.....but we are switching to no till next year. I am done with the backbreaking work if I don't need to do it.

Still gotta get some fruit trees planted as well as a couple spruce (a blue spruce and a black hills spruce) we picked up. Fun stuff brother.....I love this shit.

Good on you! I'm jealous. I wear green well though.

Mines a bit smaller but still plenty of work.

I've had to water it for the pass 3 weeks until this morning when thunderstorms came thru and dropped .6 of rain. No watering for a few days.
I run 3 electric fence wires to try to keep the cridders out and the barn right behind this picture has one of my rifles and I always carry one of my pistols. Let them try cause I'm fighting for this year's harvest.
