Ask 20 growers and you will get about 10-20 different answers on which and why. For me, I am working on what is the easiest and least painful way to harvest. I have tried both wet and dry and I kind of do a combo of them.....Ok so this post leads me to ask the question of everyone..
wet trim or dry trim?
when I was involved with growers they always cut and hung whole.... one would take the fan leaves, one wouldn’t... but they always waited till they were hanging dry to do a final trim and jar.
just wondering if anyone’s experimented with results/differences.
I like to remove all the fan leaves and all the big sugar leaves that I can without using trimmers. Only difference is I am now doing all that the last day or two that she is still alive. Leaving just buds with small sugar leaves and some medium or large ones that I couldn't get by plucking. I do a good bud wash and hang to dry for 2-3 days. From there I cut the buds off the stems (and do any dry trimming of obnoxious sugar leaves if I care about bag appeal). Assuming I do solid plucking before harvest....there isn't a lot to trim (at least on most strains) afterwards. Then into sandwich bags (40 grams per bag wet) and into the fridge for slow and low drying (10-14 days). This is the easiest method for me. And that my friend is one of the 20 answers you will likely get. Cheers brother!
