Spotting on older fan leaves

I would look at the SNS line and go all natural, and they do take several approaches at once. I also remember the time I almost killed an entire crop spraying them with neem under bright flowering lights. Please be careful.
Literally had just pulled up there site. Thanks!

Thank you all, 420 Rocks!

i think that would be easier on the plants. can SNS be used through flower ? it's not available here.

Their site says their 217 can be used to flower, but they also caution using under lamps. My plants were outside the tent when I sprayed for about 15 minutes before going back in. Think that's ok?

I'm going to call them tomorrow to talk about their productd and order something. Thanks @Emilya

there comes a time when you dont want to be spraying ANYTHING on your buds

exactly.
i've heard neem can be used in the water as well. it would taint the bud something awful though.

it has about a 3 wk half life. you can bud wash at harvest as well. you just might want to anyway.
@013 taught me about bud washing in my first grow ;). The water wasn't very dirty at all but definitely helped with the drying ....he also showed me low & slow in the fridge. Y'all are awesome and so helpful, thanks!

Don't panic and don't worry. Grass is Nature's way of saying "Hi". God created the Mites as a way of making sure we stay on track with our grows.

You are not infested yet with the mites but if nothing is done about them they will reproduce to the point where they have eaten some many holes in the leaves on the leaves that up at the top and by the buds it look white or silver or whiteish/silver/gray by week 8 of flowering. The leaves will not look like that healthy green look that is there now. We need healthy green leaves, not not some off color white-silver looking ones. Healthy leaves and the plant is photosynthesizing what it needs to finish growing.

Been through it myself. Mites can be beaten but it just takes some effort.

I watched the mites damage several plants and slowly learned to watch how they progress from minor barely noticeable to silver leaf plants. Spray every plant in the room. Spray the walls of the tent and the material by the zipper. Anything wood or paper inside the tent, that gets sprayed. The eggs will hatch and those mites will be mature and laying eggs in no time at all.

I could not close down the grow since it was a perpetual. so once I buckled down to eliminate the problem it involved spraying once a day for 3 days and then every other day for 3 sprays and then a couple 3 days apart and followed with two that were 5 days apart and eventually I felt safe and went with once a week.

And I found out that the best thing to do was spray the buds. The mites have moved into those tight areas there and it takes extra effort to get spray into all those spaces. I sprayed with Neem Oil up till about 3 weeks before harvest and then sprayed with a flower bud safe product (which it sounds like you have found something).

No point in thinking that you can just destroy this one grow and start over. The mites will be back.

i'd run a hotshot - no pest strip - on top of everything ... they are controversial ... but they are death from above.

if you use one right from the start of the treatments, you'll knock them done in one cycle. if they come back for a second, the plants will be so late your treatment options will be limited, and you may have to pull early or worse.

and go after both the gnats and mites. don't neglect one enemy to kill the other. they need different approaches.

I've ordered the hot shot, be here Weds. Reading they are a bit toxic and don't be in the room with them. Is it safe if my tent exhausts into a finished basement that is on my HVAC system for the house?

as long as you have decent ventilation and active exhaust on the tent it should be no issue. note : should . not everyone is comfortable with the same level of exposure. you have to decide for yourself.

i know if used the right way, in the correct time frame, there will be no detectable chemical present by harvest.

i used them with a limited exposure schedule in veg. i actively scrubbed air, but it was exhausted internal with a passive outflow. i was ok with it. i have seen them used full time in agriculture and other apps where i live. i would not hang one full time in my apt.

i'm saying use it. but use discretion. if you ever tried managing an outbreak without one, and then with one, you'll never go back. break the problem in one cycle and then put the toys away. adults only. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Perfect thanks!

just remember - you have to use other methods with it. don't rely on it. it's deadly deadly assist, but only to be used responsibly with another method. it's the chopper supporting the ground troops.

Neem and death from above. Also turned up my fan speed some as I read moving leaves are harder for them to eat/breed.

Wish I could figure out which type of mite, best I've read today there are three Spider, Broad and Russet. I'm Lea ing more towards Spider as one of the other mites doesnt "chew" leaves and the other attacks new growth first. Thus leaving spider mites. But all the pictures I find online show tiny chew marks....but lots of them. I have fewer marks but larger marks. But I can't see any mites, even with the loupe and spider mites I should see with the naked eye I believe, and Definitely the loupe. Perhaps I caught it really early...like it just started two days ago.

Either way, seems the remedy is pretty much the same regardless of type of mite.

I'm doing some research, could this be thrips?

Apparently thrips do similar damage but bigger "spots" and they fly. Thought my flying bug issue, got worse the past couple of days with the added light, was fungus gnats ..could they be thrips?

How do I tell the difference?

Good thing is it seems both are treated the same, but I'd like to figure this out to help prevent it again.

They are great for preventing reinfestation too, they get the pests that try to hide/go dormant that will wait and attack your next grow. But yes don’t hang them anywhere you plan to hang out long term. Use in the grow tent/closet for a few weeks then seal it up in a bag for next time.
