Yes but he was a very affable man in his youth, but as time wore on and he watched more 18-20 year old kids bright shining light leave their eyes, he became an angry and cynical man. Those lives were in his hands and every failure meant a whole family suffered. Huge burden for one man. As I heard it, the friends he had made here were making a difference and even the wit he used to be famous for was starting to come back. Don't judge harsh Reg, just ask JTG, the battle of Falujah was hell and changed a man forever.
 
Reg, in all seriousness, if you could get the kid to read some of Dharma's Journal, maybe point out pages in the beginning pertaining to advise on soils, lights, and nutes. It was made and should have been finished for a person exactly like him.

Here is a lesson of when something is working, why do we change it?? First my two Autos germed by the Spimp technique:

I have no secrets. Wait, thats bullshite. :) I have FEW secrets, the germ technique is nothing fancy. Ill tell the good and the bad.
Spimp technique:
1) Bean in paper towels. Fold up several times.
2) Place bean in a paper plate.
3) soak well with warm water.
4) fold paper plate in half. Fold over the edges and tape shut.
5) Place in warm area. Warmer than room temp. I use somehwere that bean temp is 90-100 degrees. Try placing the paper plate on a scent warmer or something. Too hot will kill it though.
6) wait 24hs.
7) place bean 1/2-1/4in deep in presoaked soil. If you use perlite and dont presoak, it will suck. :) Trust me.
8) Place pot in blazing sun or under lamp. You want the soil temp to be 90-100f.
9) wait 1-7 days. Ive had em pop in 1, and most was 4.5. But I think cause it was cloudy. ;)
10) take pics and post on 420. :)

Spimps Regret:
1) buy cheap 'single cloner''s on sale.
2) use the 'germing medium' (MG grow kids box stuff) and place bean in it
3) water
4) Watch medium expand and cushion the bean and look really cool.
5) wait 5 days
6) be dissapointed.
7) deside whether or not to pull it. :straightface:


My observations are a change in tempature + moisture really expedites the sprout. on average Id say they pop in 3 days. With no scariication or anything. But I also get lucky alot it seems ;)

I even double checked the nute levels and thought it should be fine. Damn it! :rofl: Lesson learned
 
that mg stuff is pretty harsh on your plants, their nutrients are not to bad for an all in one nutes but only at much less than the stated dose, but their soils of all types seem way to harsh on these plant, but then were not growing plants were growing weeds and they need a whole lot less than regular house plants do,

it should recover though as it grows out, will just be stunted for the first week or 2, then should be growing as normal, i tried mg once and had problems so got nearly a full bag of it sitting in my moms shed, she will use it round her garden for digging in the soil but i wont use it again, but if you have to use it then id mix it 50-50 with perlite, but them starter packs you cant really do much with, not tried them but if its mg then chances are its going to be to hot for these plants
