Solo Grow Challenge 2014 - Preparation Thread

Can I put 12 solos in a small dishpan, hand water the dishpan and bottom feed. I figure I can cut watering to 1 time a day or is this "cheating"

Yup. Just make sure roots stay in the cup. Might need to prune the roots, daily.
Just bragging rights involved so we ain't too strict on the rules, people get busy and forget shit. If someone decided to "cheat" I won't tell them to go away, they just won't be considered in the top plants.

When I make the new thread for the contest 2-3 days prior to the 1st of October. Here is going to be the only 2 rules.
1. No pumps or external buckets.
2. Roots must be contained in the pot.

In the end plants will be judged by 3 people, who I've yet to pick as I just thought of this now Hahahahah. Based on those 2 rules, and then on appearance and weight. I think 2 classes? 1 for weight one for overall look of the plant?

What do you guys think and who wants to help? Gonna need to find 3 people not in the contest. And anyone got any nominations for judges?

Lol what ya mean north? I'm in Canada we got a east coast too hahahah

Naw wat I mean bie?

whats funny man,my wife was born in nova scotia, so I read that as a newf'nlander.

I'm a new grower and haven't harvested anything yet so I'm thinking this will give me a quick lesson on flowering right? I have a bag of Mexican seeds I can use. I also have 3 plants growing but I haven't attempted clones yet because i don't think they are big enough. This will be exciting to watch. Does the size of the seed matter? I have some mature monster seeds that still has the husk around them.

On October 1st I start germination, after i see 1/4" tap root I plant into the solo cup and put on 12/12 lighting schedule(no veg.) Yea?

Welcome dude. You are right this would help you gain knowledge of flowering cannabis before you possibly waste money on your good plants. Definitely some smart growers here that will lend a hand if any issues arise.

You got it almost. Germinate your seed 24 hours before the first. They go in soil on the first.

you can use what ever you want man,as far as plants and seeds go.

nothing wrong the "mexican gas tank weed" I grew one out a couple of years ago ,that knocked my face off,its one of the few that I still wish was around

OK I read through this tread again, I understand seed people start on the first, clones get cut on the 14th and go into flower November first. My question has prob been answered but there's a couple methods, dates thrown around so jus making sure. Seeds go into flower October first correct? or veg until November first and start everything at the same time?

Great idea, I wish I could get involved but I already have my next two grows planned.
Will sticxk around to see how this turns out though!

OK everyone is confused as fuck. Hahahha my bad probably. I'll run down how it works.
On October 1st seed people plant there already germinated seeds and clone people cut there clones. U can put them in veg or flower at this time, but cloning works better under 24-0 or 18-6.
For the first 2 weeks seed people can veg if they want, then clone people will plant there clones. On the 14th. And everyone if they haven't already will switch to 12/12.

Does this make sense now? Again I apologize I get stoned and say shit weird. Lol

I'll explain the life cycle so this makes more sense?
Seeds in 2 weeks from hatching are roughly the same size as a standard clone.
A clone takes roughly 7-10 days to flower once flipped to 12/12.
This gives the seedling technically almost 1 month to mature and begin flowering, around the same time as the clone.

Like I said and I've seen its really best to use a clone unless your familiar with the seed strain and know how long the particular strain takes to mature. Most 8 week strains mature in a month. Seed to harvest in 3 months.

I think I cleared all that up? Or am I just stoned and jabbering again? Hahahahah shit
