plants will go limp "over watered" or flushed. had a big one outdoors go limp, after i watered it. but, outdoors, i water straight out of the hose. no ph. water runs about 6.9-7.2. i havent used ocean forest in years. as i remember, it was too hot, for some plants. no added ferts, period. just too hot. no way could you do seedlings in it. so, i moved to the happy frog. BIG improovement. i stayed with that for a long time, till i decided it cost too much. then i went to one i had my best luck with, as far as potting soils go. "gardener&Bloom". stuff was great. organic, with just some start nutes in it, and a little mycortizae. the problem, i found, with organics, is they are very bug freindly. and, with every bag, i got free fungus gnats. lol. i tired of fighting those. so, i went to soiless. this left all the nutrician, up to me, as soiless has nothing in it. some put a little mycor in it. now, i like using this, as i love the idea, that i alone put nutes in it. no bugs. no ph problems, as it seems to balance well. i have had ph issues, going to low. this, i attibute, to not doing a "mid term flush". i am putting some of my used soiless, into the place where i do the outdoor. this will aid in aireation. not to mention a bit of left over nutes. ocean forest, is so hot, i do believe you could never add a thing, except ph water. and have a great harvest. i did a flush today, on a few gals. i start checking ph, and ppm, for readings, as i go. today, i stopped at 225 ppm, knowing my tap water is 125 or less. it started out at 800. which means i am going to increase the feed, a tad. i never feed over 1000. and rarely go as high as 900. the build up, of salts, is what can cause ph issue, and nutrient lock up. when the plants start acting like they do in late flower, but early, well, thats ph. they dont want to eat or drink. then they get sick. when this happens, only a good flush, can bring em out of it. and, a good learning exp, for me. peace.
