Soil - Hydro - 2400w Led - 2000w HPS - 8 Strains - 1 GPW+

Re: Blue Planet Nutrients-Soil-Hydro-2400w Led-2000w Hps-8 Strains-1 GPW+

So let me get this straight.... for 6K I could buy (4) LED units which are comparable to my 600 watt HPS units and these units produce considerably less heat, consume less electricity, and yield more weight than HPS?

I cant speak for other brands but my 600w led's are comparable to 1000w hps and yep they cost me $6000. If you are looking to replace your 600's 300-400w led's would do the trick and probably cost around $4000 for good ones. Definetly alot less heat and they blow the heat out the sides of the panels instead of it beaming straight down at the plants.I can place the back of my hand right on the diodes and leave it there indefinetly, there is no comparison.:)

I accidentally touched my little 250w mh bulb with a wet hand a few days ago while changing the waterfarm res's. it sounded like I just dropped and egg in a hot pan.

this will never happen with led's:)

If there's no heat I'd upgrade and go with the bigger units. I could also run (4) lights in my flower room as opposed to the (2) I have now. I'd have 2 lights on each rail which would increase my yield SIGNIFICANTLY. ...all while using less electricity and producing less heat.

You have me seriously pondering this. I'm watching this journal very closely.

Do it fied! Put this led vs Hps baby to bed for good. If the pricetag wasn't 2x what I have into my entire setup (counting extra unused stuff) I'd already be on board, but it would cost me 6k and a marriage .... hmmm. That kinda sold it ;) :cheesygrinsmiley:

Re: Blue Planet Nutrients-Soil-Hydro-2400w Led-2000w Hps-8 Strains-1 GPW+

I originally added the 2 hps to up my yield while waiting for the new lights I want to come out but now Im really liking the side by side. Its going to show all of us whether or not these lights are direct replacements for 1000w hps. so far they are exactly that but the final weight will be the deciding factor:)

Now you got us all thinking Jon. LED revolution :). Can't wait for the end of this. I just recently did a side by side for mh vs HPS for all of flowering (not on purpose but that is all I had to work with) and the HPS nugs are about 5x more dense but with nugs the same size.

Ur like the ron Paul of leds lol

Hopefully with a better outcome tho

This translates to everything I've read which is that HPS bombs MH in flower. I'm curious to see how the LEDs compare to the HPS units. VEERRRRRYYYYY curious.

Re: Blue Planet Nutrients-Soil-Hydro-2400w Led-2000w Hps-8 Strains-1 GPW+

With led's the nugs are definetly denser but a little smaller. An oz of led nugs will look smaller than an oz of hps nugs, But take a tiny little led nug and grind it up, you will end up with a bat of a spliff:)

They're smaller and denser but do they weigh more? Have you done any side by side comparisons? I need to Google HPS vs LED yield.

Did u journal this by chance? 420fied and I were just having this discussion about my results in mh vs Hps. Mh gave me the denser (albeit smaller) nugs whereas Hps gave me about 25% more and the difference in swell was blatant

Wiw!!

Thanks for the reminder to get my ass over there jon.
And it seems I've been missing heaps of good stuff!
Man, your journals grow almost as fast as OMM's!
All caught up now. Glad to hear you got your deficiancy sorted.
And I love how you're running the 2- 1000 watt HPS's to show everyone how comparable they are to your LED's.
This is going to be ill!!
stoked to be subbed up now.

Re: Blue Planet Nutrients-Soil-Hydro-2400w Led-2000w Hps-8 Strains-1 GPW+

No journal. I'm in a non legal state and a touch leery about doing a journal. My side by side wasn't the best as there could of been multiple factors contributing to the denser nugs on HPS side. Veg time wasn't exact but strains were the same. Plant on HPS side was vegged almost a month longer (although both plants were showing pre flowers during veg so not sure how that would effect nug density). And temps got down to 51 at night during the first month of flower and only got up to 70 on the mh side and temps were 77 down to 58 on HPS side. But nugs looked almost identical in size (main tops only) until I started trimming and the HPS blew the mh away in density.

So in conclusion this side by side was the complete opposite of scientific but from one stoners pov HPS was much more dense.

Right on Brotha! you made it just in time for the good stuff:)

yes, led nugs of comparable size to the hps nugs were heavier because they were denser. I havent had the chance to compare weight for weight plants, so im very excited about this grow.these plants were all grown in the same system, so everything is exactly the same.theres 2 rows under the hps that get no led light, this is going to be interesting:)
