You're right, the roots will have a lot of trouble penetrating the clay, but so will water so it will pool where the roots and clay meet.

Let's not jump the gun just yet and call it root rot, but drainage holes will never go amiss, especially seeing as you still have some time to go till harvest.
 
Whatever the best stuff you can get your hands on is. You don't need much can maybe layer a few centimetres on top of it all down there square meter or two. We are talking worm castings mushroom compost chicken crap combinations etc.

Probably starting to shift focus to potassium so like banana peels are good.

Yeah, added nitrogen during flowering is not so great, but awesome for veg.

I always used to pre-plant legumes in the spot I wanted to grow and use the straw from that as mulch = win/win.

I've been doing 15 litres a day now maybe she needs more
She got about 30 litres of feed phd
At 6
Another 30 litres plain phd at 6 and another 15 litres of Cana ab cal mag and potash
75 litres overall would barely fill a quarter of that hole still wouldn't be much left after what she sucks up.
Let's hope it's just a dry spot in the soil
