Smokin's Search for the Stinkiest, Fattest Girl

Re: Smokin's search for the stinkiest, fattest girl.

Sounds good. I'd do a little less cal-mag this early on. 3ml/gal is safe.

I ended up using only 3ml/gal, and this morning I was seeing pretty good growth. I am pretty confident with this adjustment. I will post some pics tonight.

This is good to hear.

Looks like i'm just in time for the show. Your plants seem to be making better progress now and with them three hydro kings about, know doubt you'll have a successful harvest!

Good luck

Re: Smokin's search for the stinkiest, fattest girl.

DAY 31.... HURTIN
I am close to starting over, I can't seem to please these girls...
Here's the rundown
PH 5.5- 6.2 (Tested with 2 probes, and calibrated numerous times)
PPM 1400 (calibrated as well.)
Nutes: BC Grow, BC Boost, 3 ml cal mag.
Canopy temp: 65-78F

My thoughts.
I believe I pissed these girls off right away, I changed their light schedule, and I locked out nutes by improper PH. I will post some pics, All advice is welcome. Like I said, I am considering culling the girls because I am wasting power, time, and nutrients.

Re: Smokin's search for the stinkiest, fattest girl.

Its tough bro. Sometimes it takes the plant some time to bounce back from def. shock. At this stage if it were me I'd probably cut some clones and get them going while I see what happens then maybe start over but I do have several moms to cut from and dont have to consider the cost of buying clones.

That doesnt mean these gals wont turn around but it may be a a few weeks before they grow out enough that you don't see the history in the leaves. Push the PPM to 1600 and keep an eye on the tops. If you dont start seeing decent dark growth at the growth tips then maybe you know what you need to do?

Thanks for the advice, I should have just ditched them 2 weeks ago. I will give them until the weekend, and if I don't see them recover......

Re: Smokin's search for the stinkiest, fattest girl.

I pulled the girls this morning, 8/12 stopped growing, in the last 7 days there was no real growth. An old mentor of mine stopped by last night, and he said the light changed confused them too much most likely. He said he has bought clones from dispensaries that where under 24hr light, and switching them to 18/6 just confused them too much.
I am pretty bummed about my costly mistake. All said and done, I wasted 4 weeks and about 300$ in electricity and nutes.....
New gameplan is to go to the club tonight, pick out new girls and run them under my new 400w metal halide.
I will start a new journal.
Thanks for all the help and advice guys.

Re: Smokin's search for the stinkiest, fattest girl.

After looking at your pictures and seeing you had a problem with your ph meter I would look closer at your PPM meter...

To me it looks more like a low nute problem seeing as the new growth is such a light green...we had a PPM meter crap out in mid grow, we found out before any ill effect but it turned out for two weeks our PPM was much lower than we thought.

Those didn't look bad enough to just chop, I would have tried a couple of days of straight PH'ed H20 then a fresh mix before chopping (after checking my PPM meter)

...I would have at least given a go at cutting some clones first.

Great set up you have there, good luck on the next go, I'm sure you'll sort it out..

Not to jump down your throat, just kind of annoying to get advice from someone who hasn't read through the journal entirely. I posted that I had checked calibrated, and in fact was using 2 separate TDS meters. I did in fact flush twice during my issues, and it did help a little, just not enough. Also taking clones would have cost me time + money, whereas buying new clones cost me $120. I stand by my decision
I spent almost 3 weeks trying to get these girls back in line, and basically I was just wasting nutes and electricity. In the end, I was able to get about 5/12 back and growing, but I wasn't about to use all that electricity and nutes to get a mediocre yield. In the end I think one of the major issues I battled was changing my lights from 24 to 18 right off the bat. I currently have 12 new girls started under a new 400 watt metal halide running 24/7. I will start the new journal sometime this week.

Same strains bro, or did you do differently this time?

Waiting on your new J.

Re: Smokin's search for the stinkiest, fattest girl.

Just read through this journal. Sorry to hear about those plants. I am looking into starting an ebb n grow grow and this seems like something that would happen to me. all you wanted to do was give them what they wanted but unfortunately plants can't talk..

i'm sure you'll have better luck next time using your new knowledge and i'll be here to give you any help i can. :goodluck:
