Smokin's Search for the Stinkiest, Fattest Girl

Re: Smokin's search for the stinkiest, fattest girl.

Not sure if you guys are into the history of strains, but heres the dirt on Dream Queen.

Dream Queen was an 89 SSSC skunk#1 crossed with an unknown indica in athens ohio in about 1990. It was indeed made by cecilC. Cecil is the kind of guy who wouldn't want to take credit for making it as it was just a random cross. The part about MrGreenBeans was pretty accurate. Only mrgreenbeans was'nt living anywhere near georgia. He had people that were bringing him pounds of Dream Queen aka Cush and he loved it and wanted to grow it. He kept trying to get clones from these guys and they would always say no.

Eventually for the price of $2,500 he was able to get a clone of it. Those georgia guys, mrgreenbeans and CecilC all call it Cush with a C not to be confused with Kush. I think when mrgreenbeans got the clone it was around 94.

Cecils old friends that had the Cush still he stopped talking to for reasons and was'nt in that area anymore. Another old user some of you may remember named Bunz had this plant out in southern cali that was not named but he was selling herb to snoop dog if you believe the story(but bunz was'nt one to make shit up), was selling herb to snoop dog and snoop named it. Years later, I met mrgreenbeans on a canadian IRC chat client and invited him to come chat. He did and he and cecil kicked it off and the three of us met up and exchanged clones. At the same time or rather right before then, cecil got Bunz to send him clones of Dream Queen and a few others and the Dream Queen and the Cush are identicle. I have heard folks saying that her structure looks like old skunk#1 or super skunk, but it is not, it is what it is, just apprears very similliar, but hell let's think about it super skunk = skunk#1 x afgani, Cush/Dream Queen = skunk#1 x indica, same basic theory of a cross. She is very fast flowering, the fastest by far that I have ever seen from the approximatly 200 strains that I have grown. She has this super sweet like sickly sweet candy fruit taste and smell. She is a good one for sure. She is not my favorite, I find that with those types of fast sativa doms I build a fast tolerance, of course everyone else gets ripped from it. I think she is decently potent, not schrom or OG kush, but not weak by any means. Well that's the story if anyone has any questions shoot. peace"

I took this off the internet.

DAY 8
Res change went smooth last night, PPM is currently 1050. I took some pics this morning with lights on. I attempted to adjust the photos....

Below is the Indica Grape Ape.

Here's the Dream Queen

A little side action

All the burnt spots are on old growth, but I have noticed a bit of twisting of the leaves on the Sativa Dream Queen.

Re: Smokin's search for the stinkiest, fattest girl.

i see that leaf twisting your talking about, might be cal-mag time already...

I'm using 5ml cal mag already, I believe it was just shock.

On another note, I added more nutes, but I am seeing yellowish new growth on the Sativas. I am not sure if I should bump the nutes up a bit more, and risk burning the Indicas. Any thoughts appreciated.

Re: Smokin's search for the stinkiest, fattest girl.

Updates,
The last few days, I have been battling a Nitrogen deficiency. I think I finally have it beat, I have added benificial bacteria, and a crap more N. The part that confused me was how I was getting pale greenish yellow, and necrotic tips. I took the necrotic tips for a possible nute burn, but after some research it was just the leaf dying. So, all my new growth is a nice dark healthy green, and the rest of the plants....... we will see. Wish me luck!!

Wish me luck!!

Of course man Best Luck! But after seeing your 1st grow, you've got a bit of skill to be proud of.

I'm the one that needs some luck. Just tell them plants who's "Da Man" ;-)

Thanks for the update Slo!

Just wanted to say "awesome journal". I just finished reading your last one "again" and started to take some notes, and I've been keeping up with your new one. If you don't mind me asking but how did you get nitrogen deficiency?

DAY 13...
STRUGGLIN....
For some reason I hate posting pics of my problems, must be a pride issue or something. But in hopes of saving someone else the heartache (and saving my ass).... Lets break it down, day 8 I was noticing general yellowing of the plants. I assumed; A) the plant is putting energy towards roots, or B) Nitrogen deficiency. I let it go 2 days, and it seemed to worsen, so I bumped my ppm from 1000 to 1150. Well I don't think I wooped it... The new growth is green and healthy looking, but a lot of the older leaves are dying, and some of the tips of the middle aged leaves are starting to yellow as well. My temps are all dialed in, and my meters are reading true. So here it goes, HELP!! LOL The Indica's seem to be getting hit the hardest at the moment.

Re: Smokin's search for the stinkiest, fattest girl.

Pretty sure I figured it out, I believe my meter was off once again.... I tested it in 7.0 reference 3 days ago, and it read 7.0. Well today I was more patient, and tested it in both 4.0 and 7.0, and bingo it was off by a bunch. So I re-calibrated my pen, and I found out I was at about 4.8, and it read 5.6 30 mins prior..... well I sure feel better having figured it out, just annoyed at myself for not slowing down enough. I am pretty sure they will make it, I still have descent looking new growth.

Re: Smokin's search for the stinkiest, fattest girl.

Hey Slo.

I hear what you mean about posting the problem pics. Everyone has them. Most just don't talk about it. You've scored major points in my "book"!

It's also awesome (can we still use that word?) that you caught the issue.

Now come on over to my crib and fix my stuff please, (lol).

:bump:

hey man nice catch. I bad meter can really screw with you. I had issues with a hanna meter and have written hanna off. I bought the cheapest pen digi meter I could find and it has been the best!! Look up Milwaukee PH600. Its about $20. rarely ever needs to be calibrated. I have 3 and cross check between pens so I dont run into a wacky bad meter type problem. I pretty much have a feel for what my solution should be since I keep doing the same thing over and over and over so I get a feeling when my meter may be off a tad. I just grab the next one off the shelf to verify if my gut is right or not. If I find they are reading different by more than .2 I calibrate all of them.

yah, I have a Hanna HI98127, and it seems to drift quite a bit. I will defiantly have to pick up another meter so I can cross check easily. I will check out the Milwaukee. Thanks for your help.

I just did a search of your model # and I'm pretty sure I have the identical meter. I will have to be very careful to monitor my readings, although I don't think I have had any issues with it, yet. I make sure I keep it in storage solution and sitting upright. My tap water is very consistent at a PH of 7.1, and I rinse it with fresh tap water after each use, and check that that is the reading. Not very scientific, but so far...

I hope the girls respond well to "balanced" nutrition :goodluck:

For what it's worth. When I first picked up my Milwaukee 802 monitor, I called and spoke to one of the tech guys about calibration and storage. The biggest tip the tech gave me was to always keep the tip in some type of liquid. He suggested I get a glass, fill it with half tap water, and just keep the probe in the glass. No storage solution necessary. He also mentioned that the unit really shouldn't need a calibration unless the probe goes dry and/or it isn't used for a month or two. I just thought I'd throw that out there for reference. Also, I'd have to give a plug for Milwaukee instruments, I've had nothing but good experiences with the unit I purchased.
