Smokie's CFL Perpetual Auto Grow - 2016

What I've done for my solo cup babies is make a bunch of slits in the side and holes in the bottom for drainage and air flow to dry it out faster. But it's seems Nessie/angel I'd doomed, you're likely right about the soil. The taproot wasnt able to push down through it, or possibly an acidic piece of wood/ stick was in the mix and blocked or poisoned her. That's a shame either way. What's the next strain to replace her? Will it be a solo cup challenger aswell?

I'd confirm the promix nutrients first off. If there's some already in the mix then Atrain's schedule will be skewed. You can follow it along with what stage you think your girl is at. Where you see flowering nutes that will be when first pistils and vertical growth stops. For me is was week 3 for pris, week4 for Nadine, and week 5for Maria. Each girl developed at different rates. So I'd use it as a guide but use your girls visual cues to know when to start the different nutes.

There is a bunch of holes on the bottom, but I didn't do slits in the side. I will add them to he next cup.

I have a few to choose from, but since I do want to do one in a solo cup, just because, it's between Bloody Skunk and Auto Blueberry x Auto Sweet Tooth. Bloody Skunk looks like she's a stunner, so I almost don't want to use her but BxST doesn't have much info so it's a wild card. I think I might just put both of them into a bag, stick my hand in and pull one out.

I can't find out much about the PM Organic, though it does say there are organic fertilizers in it as well as peat humus, compost, and mycos. Just uploaded my photos, and am about to do an update. I'm 95% sure Big B is in pre-flower, but vertical growth hasn't stopped yet. I'm going to have to re-read some auto journals because I'm overthinking this.

:thanks:

February 6th update:

Day 15: Temperatures remain stable at 28C with a 40% humidity.

Britta

She's still part of the itty bitty leaves committee. Sticking to PHed water for her until she grows. Come on Britta, you can do it! :cheertwo:

Big B

She has pistils on her, and I can see new growth every few hours on her. Sorry for the slightly blurry photos, camera is not happy on macro mode.

I'd really like to top her since it was always in the books for her, but I'm nervous now that everything has happened. I will be doing LST as she grows though, so that will have to be good enough.

I also received a lovely gift on Friday.

DSCF13803.JPG

I was more than ready to tear into these, but with the current problems in the grow, I'm going to wait until we have a harvest. I'd like to not mess these ones up because their main purpose is oil, and healing. I owe a giant thank you to a friend for these, and wish I could give her a huge hug. I appreciate it more than I can express. :hugs:

Our new solo cup girl is going to be...

Drum roll please! :tommy:

Auto Blueberry x Auto Sweet Tooth. Auto Blueberry is a cross between Purple Thai and Afghani, & the Sweet Tooth brings a bit more indica to the mix. Since she is indica dominant, she is going to be the night time strain.

She is currently in her moist paper towel bachelor pad, living it up until she pops!

Well, that's all folks!

Well, I'm sorry to hear about your solo cup loss, but I'm SO glad you've popped another! Woo hoo for the new strain! And for your seed order arriving -- it's just like Christmas isn't it? Or something ...

Imagine a world where your family and friends give you cannabis seeds for your stocking ... "Oh, Mum -- Auto Blue Mazar -- just want I wanted!" Mum chuckles, knowing that she'll get to smoke it too ... Actually given the propensity of family to give crappy gifts it will probably be entirely the wrong strain or type. "Gee, thanks, Uncle Harry -- I only grow indica autos that will fit into my closet, but this regular landrace sativa that grows to 9 feet tall will be just fine!"

And can I just say that Big B is a superstar? Super tight nodes, great colour, strong stem. You can still top her if you want to, and LST is definitely something you can start, too, but there's something to be said for just growing a plant out and seeing what it does naturally. You could also try pony tailing her -- that's apparently very good for tight, bushy plants.

Sorry for the rambling -- too much Blue Dream in my vape!

Big B is a superstar. If I was to top her, do it now, or wait until the next node? I'm honestly not sure if the first fingered leaves (that are single) count as a node or not. And if I hadn't said this was my first grow, that would make it obvious! :laughtwo:

Britta is going to be the just grow out girl since she is still too small for anything fun, and she's a single cola type of girl. I can respect that, not that she's giving me much choice at this point. And there's no plan at all for BxST yet. Flying by the seat of my pants with her!

Funny that you would say that... I have my mother's day gift picked out for my mom already and she's getting Acapulco Gold & Hawaii Maui Waui seeds. She knows, and she approves. With her, I could get away with asking for such and such a seed for my birthday or Christmas. But it would be on the condition that I share I bet!

And check out this autoflower topping thread lots of people have posted their results and procedures. Auto Topping Thread

It's in my subscriptions, but I like to see the journals as well. I find it gives me a better timeline overall. But I did top her! Literally moments ago.

Yes that's the soil. I tossed the bag but apparently I messed up, and it feeds up to 3 months. :hmmm: I think I need a new plan.

Edit to add: Found the ratios! It has a N-P-K ratio of .30-.12-.10, and says its 50% organic matter.

It's much better than say miracle grow soil or the promix Potting soil. But ya you'll need a slight variation of the Atrain schedule. Once you get a few weeks in the nutes in the soil will have diminished and you can restart the full advanced auto feeding schedule. For now I'd just keep the dosage down to half strength or so, and the more you flush the soil The more nutrients it releases, so just stay the course and try and establish where your girls are on Atrain's schedule. Pre flowers being about week 4..lots of love my dear, don't be discouraged they will flourish very soon. Cheers

That makes sense. Science was never my strong suit.

By in preflower, *I think* I meant she was showing her pistils and popping out lots of new growth. Not that she had preflowers. She's on day 16 today, above soil. Lesson learnt, don't medicate then update!

Hey Smokie, how many nodes do you have there? I read your question about the first two leaves being nodes or not and I just read that they should not be counted as nodes. That was a question I had as well.

Your girl is looking good. Hope the topping works!:thumb:

Thanks! She has three nodes and I topped the forth as per the auto topping thread. They said either after the third or fourth, but third seems to be the hot spot. I was pretty sure I was okay to top either way, just wanted to be sure.

February 9th update:

Day 18: Temperatures are 27-28C and humidity is 55%. We have a humidifier in another room that's only needed at night, so yesterday during the day, I added it to the tent. It took about 4 hours for it to hit 55%, but Big B looked happier once it stabilized. Britta never looks happy.

Let's start with a family photo!

DSCF13933.JPG

Big B to the left, BxST in the middle, and Britta on the right. Temps were 27C and humidity 45% in this picture (as soon as I opened the tent and put the humidifier back).

Blueberry x Sweet Tooth doesn't have a name yet. I'm going to try this a different way; naming her after she's up instead of before. She was placed in soil this morning around 9AM, so she will have 13.5 hours of sunlight before lights out. Tomorrow she will begin 18/6 like her sisters. Her inner cup is held a little higher by bobby pins to allow her more air than Nessie had, which hopefully will save her from the unfortunate death that Nessie endured.

Britta

DSCF13893.JPG

Britta, Britta, Britta... What am I going to do with you?

We've decided Britta has until Friday to push out a full leaf set. Should she fail, we will be trading her in for a newer model.

I skipped one of her waterings to let her dry out more, and see if that made a difference. She was dry this morning, but instead of the 2 cups she was getting, I only gave her about a cup. I want to see if this makes a difference or not. Trial and error are the best teachers.

Big B

DSCF13903.JPG

There's a reason her name is Big B!

She got topped nearly 48 hours ago now, and doesn't seem to have any issues with it what so ever. She also got 2 cups of plain water at that time. This morning she was almost completely dry and a wee bit droopy, so she got her first nutrients at her next level up (day 15-20). She got 0.5mL of OptiCAL, and 1mL of AN micro, grow & bloom per liter, although she only got a half liter (2 cups). Depending on how quickly she dries out this time, will determine her next water amount.

I'm going to be sticking with the every second day update from here on out I think. I'd love to update everyday, but I start a new job Friday, and won't have time. If I have a chance to sneak in an extra update or two, I promise I won't hesitate!

That's what I found out in my earlier germination days. It's like losing a pet, if it doesn't have a name it's not yours yet. Now I wait until they break the soil, (I can hardly wait but...) before I give them an official Name.
And that's kinda a like a ceremony of its own with my gf. We take out the good old black sharpie and decide on a name that suits her, and decorate the cups. We're really keen on these Hawaiian and native American names that have meanings behind them.
Your topping looks great, she's gonna be splendid to watch the LST to come.

You'll miss us too much . Have a good day x2 and congrats on the new job. :high-five:

Wow, Big B is doing so well! You go, girl! She's really taking her topping in stride, isn't she?

Britta looks fine -- she's just stalled by something. Can you try really letting her go dry -- like until she wilts a bit? She's so not dead, there's just something she doesn't like :)

And congrats on the new job starting -- that can be a stressful time, just learning all the new things you have to learn ...

I love Hawaiian names, but I'd never remember how to spell it. Also, my best friend is native, so I'm sure she'd take some offence... They are such beautiful names though!

Thank you. I was a little scared I pinched too low, but she doesn't even seem to care at all. I want to grow her again and I think make seeds. She's fantastic!

I know I'll miss it too much. I've got a paper journal I keep notes in though, so I'll still be able to remember all the details. And thank you! I can't wait to finally start training and open.

She is a gem. The B stands for something, and that's basically what she gets called. I think she's enjoying the verbal abuse haha! I cannot wait to start actually training her.

That's what I'm doing this time. I'm thinking Big B is going to get a watering and a feed before Britta will need water. I want to make her happy, she's just so small and quiet, that I don't know how yet. Although, I am noting new growth in her this morning. I had to double check to be sure. But it's there!

Thank you! It's a fairly easy job considering my health I didn't want anything too stressful. It's a brand new place, so I'll be part of the original staff. I'm rather excited about it. It's a fresh new start for everyone there, a thing of beauty.

Have a fantastic day! May all your roll ups be winners!

Text only update today.

Day 21:

Camera is toast. So let's keep it short and sweet so I can go borrow one from a friend.

Britta has new growth y'all! She is working on it very slowly. I think I was right all along and it's been the heat and large variations in temperature. She's doing better in her stable environment.

Big B smells like a musky teenage boy (in a good way). Not sure if she will get stronger or not, but it's not an obvious cannabis smell, so it's fine for now. Carbon filter is need soon.

Ivy is through the ground! She even has her first finger leaves out and proud. Made me such a happy momma this morning. So she is on day 1. She is the best looking seedling out of all of them to date. I must be learning!
