Smokey's Mystery Bud - First CFL/Soil Grow 2010

Awesome start on the 2 and 3, but 1 just looks slow. No doubt she will pull through and hopefully surprise you.

Thanks man! When I look back at her pics from the transfer, it amazes me that she has made it this far. A good picture journal is great reference to check progress!

Girls seem to be doing great these days! My haze auto was a bit slow to get going as well and she also hated nutes to begin with as you can see in my pictures lol. :yummy:

IM ALL ABOUT THE PICS AS WELL!

Hope she gets better soon!

Bud, good to hear from you again. These ladies are really taking off! MC1 is looking bad and I am thinking of canning her to make room for my 3 healthier girls. I want to start flowering soon and at this point she just doesn't have enough time to really get healthy. And at this point, she's just doesn't seem worth the space and light she's taking that the other ladies could benefit from.

Thanks for cruising through, and your ladies look great as well!

Pics will be up tonight and I believe they will be getting their first taste of nutes. So, hopefully things will get real interesting in the next week.

Namaste!! :tokin:

Just catching up with things, had to make that tough decision on weather to remove one of my plants and she was three ft. and two or three weeks into flowering.I did find a home for her with a grower who was between crops but still what a tough choice to make.I also find my self growing more than two strains at any given time and that the same strenght nutes dose not work for all of them.:goodluck:

Dain, good of you to stop by! It's a pretty easy decision for me because it is still just a little guy. I couldn't imagine having to get rid of a 3 footer that's flowering! Must have been really tough. And this whole soil thing just isn't for me. I'm an engineer so I tend to like full control of everything. Soil just has too many unknowns. Going to hempy with OC+ on my next journal. No guess, no mess!

Dain, I hear ya on that man, definitely not the ideal situation. Sometimes you just gota do what you gota do!

But as for the ladies I have kept around, here is a picture update. And yesm you heard correctly. I am down to the 3 MB strains. MC1 just didn't warrant the space anymore, so I axed her. Pulled her from the dirt, and the frail roots were barely out of the rockwool cube. Oh well. Time to concentrate on my 3 lovely ladies. See below!

Here is MB1. I LST'd her tonight. I won't be topping MB1, but am considering super cropping. Will keep you posted on that.

Now here is MB2. She's been a little slower than MB3 all along so I'm hoping to see a nice burst in growth soon.

And last, but certainly not least is MB3. I don't think I have to say much about her.

So, I watered the girls with RO and added nutes. I am using the GH 3 part liquid nutes. I gave 1 tsp of each per gallon just to see how they react. Hopefully if all is well, I will step it up from here on out. Also, I must pick up a digital PH meter. Very sick of drop tests!!

Be easy friends! :thumb:

The girls are looking perfect Smokey. I love how they start growing colas everywhere when you tie them.

I know man. As this is my first LST, I am amazed. I always wondered how MJ bushes were made. Now I know. :rasta:

Sweet LST bro.

Thanks herbs!

butter homie... butter...
lookin great! :goodjob:

kylester, thanks for the kind words! I can't wait to flip the switch on these girls and see what they're really made of!

What I do is try and 'walk' them around the lip of the container. Tie her again as soon as you think you can, she will get out of control in a hurry otherwise.

Yea, I will be doing that with MB1 for sure. But MB2 and MB3, the main stem hasn't grown in length anymore. Just the branches. And when I sit down there to try and figure out where to tie everything, it just seems like I'm covering something else. Maybe I just need to let the branches get a little longer, then start tying them down. Time shall tell, but I do hear ya on getting out of control. MB3 is amazing me, looks like a fat bush already!

Thanks for popping in freetheweed! Hope you stick around for the good stuff to come!!

Smokey you def need to let the stem grow, but when you've got 5-6" from your last tie, see if you can do it again.

After a while it's no longer practicable. It will be hard to even tell which is the main cola, and you'll just have to tie what you can where you can. Make sure you have lots of tie holes. Good luck!

Thanks man. I just know now to do the topping after I am satisfied with my LST. I plan on flowering soon because I want to get these girls out and start the next grow, which should be more impressive. Gona buy some nice genetics and go hempy. This grow was mainly to get my feet wet again after being out of the scene for almost 5 years. But I can say it is turning out quite nice for something I threw together on a budget. Overall, less than $100 since I started. But that is not a practical number because I have soooo much shit leftover from previous grows.

That's the best part about all grows after the first, you should already have most of what you need. My first 'on the cheap' grow probably cost me close to $1000 after all was said and done, this one is next to nothing.

I'm not going to top this time, I fim'd all the girls at least once last time. LST'ing already gives you so many freaking colas you can barely count them. Topping just gives you a few more you need to tie out of the way, and frankly I felt like I had too many to try and deal with last time. Of course that was a 2 month veg.

just picked up a new light and 20 feminized seeds and that set me back almost 600$ another 50-60$ for soil and containers

I hear ya Blue, I just did some more tying in the garden (pics to follow), and I can only imagine what it's like on a large scale! But it seems like everytime I tie a branch, I open up light and space for 2 more. It's like christmas morning over and over again!

Dain, couldn't have said it better myself! Oh and I did see that new amp/ballast you just got. Probably adds a little flash to your grow space!

Now it's time for the good stuff. I was gona wait a couple days for more pics, but what the hell. Couldn't help myself. I tied the ladies again today, allowing for yet even more light penetration. I want some bushy ladies, so this is whats gota be done! Check it out!

Here is MB1. Tightened her leash a little today to get that nice horizontal stem action.

Next up is MB2. Tied some branches down to try and promote some more bush-like features!

And finally MB3. Also tied up like a hostage. But don't let her fool ya, she enjoys it!

And a quick group photo. You can easily see here how little vertical space I am using.

So they all seem to have taken well to their feeding last night. Well, after 24 hours there are no signs of nute burn, but I will be keeping an eye on that.

Now, today I was thinking about the origin of my seeds. They came about as an accidental simple cross in a grow that was supposed to yield all sinsemilla. From that, I know one thing that is certain. I got just over 30 seeds from the batch, and I will probably have just as many phenotypes. This is exciting to me because I will be getting slightly different types of bud with every seed I pop. Luckily, both plants were solid genetics. So this grow is almost a breeding experiment as well. Can't wait to see what I get!!

Keep it tuned in people! More to come, guaranteed!! :peacetwo:

Great job with the LST Smokey! It's so cool how fast they turn back to the light and the new growth spurts up. When I had my girls outside in the midday sun they'd be turned back to it within an hour.
