Brother, sometimes thats all it takes
oh and don't worry you will eventually get your chance to go toe to toe with them, every one does eventually.
Hey OG I've been reading your grow, and we're almost on the same schedule to the day. I had a mite problem and I used mighty wash with diatomaceous earth that I sprinkled on the soil and no sign of those little pest. Im gonna do a wash when I'm done so I don't think the mighty wash will have an affect, plus it has know smell which I liked, hope this helped.
Ohh no I've done some reading and its defiantly not harmful to humans if using food grade diatomaceous earth. I read about it somewhere and got the idea then did some reading so I topped my soil with it. Plus it's not like your actually putting it on the girlsIsnt Diatomaceous earth harmful if ingested? I used it to get rid of a flea infestation the neighbors brought home with their new dogs. Poor Oso he was going nuts when he caught them too. I have a bag left so going toe to toe as OG said, they wont have a chance. I am worried that it is very harmful to humans if consumed.
Thanks for that lovely compliment Glimmergrass. Yes I am very excited about getting the new light, since I am only using about 1/2 of my flower tent at the moment, now I can start using it to more of its potential. Spouses are the best, my wife and I have been married for 30 years now and I must say it has been the best 25 years of my life Actually I count my lucky stars every day that I was blessed with such a great wife. Not a day goes by when I do not tell her how much I love her and every morning I tell her the same thing, and have for 30 plus years.. "Honey, have I told you today how beautiful you are?"Wow, OG! Those plants just won't quit! You have a couple of jungles on your hands ...
Congrats on the new light! Isn't it lovely when we have the support (sometimes indulgence) of our partners? I try not to inconvenience my husband with my grow too much, and I pay for it all out of extra money I earn so I don't eat into household expenses too much (except electricity) and he is the first to encourage me to get a new piece of kit or equipment. We tend to do that for each other (totally codependent) -- I encourage him to buy a new power tool for his workshop or lens for his camera, too.
May you battle valiantly against the spider mites, my friend. "Damn them to hell!" ...
Sorry Mello, but I know you are not a quitter and I also know that someday you will be expanding to a bigger since like me, you have the grow bug. It is just part of the circle of life.NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Where's the wood, where is the damn wood...... Don't jinx me OG!
I have used this for getting rid of spider mites in the chicken coop.Do not recall about consumption but I do know you do NOT want to breath the dust of it, it will get into your lungs and imbed into the lung tissue and never come out. Everything I have read on it, suggests you wear a respirator when handling it, because the particles are so small it is easily becomes air borne. I have heard of others using it as a top dressing on their soils, apparently SM do not like walking across it since to them it is like walking on broken glass.Isnt Diatomaceous earth harmful if ingested? I have no issues with you triple posting heck quadruple if you likeSorry for the triple post, it's hard to multi quote on this phone. I just wanted to suggest monster cropping and topping for clones. It'll shorten your tall plants, bush them up a bit, and slow down the growth while they heal. You'll also have a few babies vegging which is never a con unless you really don't have the space.
It is quiet possible that I do not have the right type, I originally bought it for my chickens about a year or so ago when they got a bad case of SM's. Apparently while not healthy for humans to breath, my girls out in the coop use it as a dust bath.I have used this for getting rid of spider mites in the chicken coop.Do not recall about consumption but I do know you do NOT want to breath the dust of it, it will get into your lungs and imbed into the lung tissue and never come out. I know the food grade version people eat so it couldn't be to bad. They say if you had an open wound in an emergency you can use food grade diatimatious earth in the wound to slow or stop the bleeding so that's directly into the blood stream.
It is actually called bud building. What you do is around 1/2 way through flower, you take a pair of scissors and nip off just the very tiniest bit of the top of the bud. At least 3 pistils and the very top leafs. If you check back in my pictures there is one of a mason jar lid with the pieces I cut off the buds, there is one off to the side of the pile which gives you an idea how little you actually cut off. Does it work? well the ones I cut are as hard as rocks, I can hardly get them to squeeze at all with my fingers. The ones I missed are not near as hard, though they are filling up nicely also.Everything is looking sweet here as always OG! The veg rent is outta control lol going to have some monster plants when those are flowered. It will be fun to see!
Can you describe what backbuilding is? I haven't heard of it I don't believe and missed reading where and when you incorporated it into the grow.
Thank you for the kind words. So beautiful. Seems fitting for this time of year.
I had a few buds that were pretty solid before I did it, but I do believe it has made some difference, not sure if it is the end all end all but I figure every little bit helps. Thanks for the info OG! I'll have to try that on some. It makes sense!
On mine I did not really notice much difference until around day 4, but then again I have to put gloves on every time I handle my crop, so I only touch it when I have to. I think it was 4 days before I actually gave it the squeeze test.I just did this technique myself for the first time, not sure how long it takes to start working but I will be posting pics tonight when lights come on and we will see if one day is enough to notice a difference since i did it yesterday
Oh it has been cold here, the chickens waterer has been frozen every morning for almost a week now. We got a heated waterer for them which helps with that. I am west of Portland about 16 miles. As for how I am holding my temps, I haven't, my tents is in our back bedroom right next to the sliding glass door. I keep the house at 70 degrees but my temps have been dropping down into the mid 60's. I will not start panicking until they start dropping below 60. Part of the reason it has been dropping so low is because I exhaust throughout the night to keep my RH% as low as I can. yesterday my high RH was 34% and low was 27% i believe. sorry already reset it early this evening I would have to go back and check the update to be exact. What part of the state are you in, OG? I'm getting some serious cold blasts on the valley floor lately. Even with my lil heater running through the night, I dipped to 59 degrees in the tent last night =(
Granted, that's not exactly a temperature emergency but still.....what are you doing to keep things warm?
Yessir. I prepped it as far as my budget allowed, but I need to frame up two more walls to create a space that will hold any heat. For veg, how low do you suppose the RH can dip without making too nasty a dent on things? I've been trying to keep things in the 55% neighborhood but since I got the heater in there, I can't get it over 34-44%
