Small 1st Grow Already In Progress Using LEDs To Flower & T-5s For Veg

Seems to me that the already cut ones have a lack of pistils at the very top. You are right though it is not immediately obvious. Looking good OG. Bubblewrap sounds like a good idea. If it has a flat side face that towards the inside of the room and the open side towards the glass.
Grrr I just checked on something, when I put my vent for my exhaust in I did not take into consideration the amount of space the louvers take when the fan is on, so when the screen is closed it clears no issue but when exhausting, the louvers pop up and catch the frame of the screen and have to be pulled down open the screen door. After not thinking this one through completely I started to think more on will this effect door operation for entering and leaving since I use this door daily to feed the chickens and gather eggs. Bubble wrap would work great if I did not need to open the door but I am screwed if I open the door for clearances. I Thought about putting it on the outside of the glass but then I would not be able to use the screen. Perhaps a space blanket may be the better choice since it is thinner and would fit between the doors as I open them. Decisions, decisions.

OG do you have any reflectix? I use it for insulation and reflection in my grow. It's about 5mm thigh so it would fit inside the sliding glass door pane fro opening and closing I bet. I liked the idea of bubble wrap because it is clear but if you don't mind silver the reflectix is great. Another option is to hang heavy curtains or a blanket on the inside of the room itself from the wall of the house right above the sliding glass door. You could leave the last part free and able to be folded back to exit. Just put a hook or something to latch it closed at night. Heavy curtains work great.

I used 6 mil black plastic to create my room for my tent, you can get it at any lowes home depot etc.. and i have a blackout curtain draped over the back of the tent where the window is, even though the window is blacked out i dont take chances with light

The curtain idea actually may be my best option, since I like look out the window at my other girls (the egg laying girls) and I could just use a clear plastic to form an air barrier to insulate.

When I 1st bought my flower tent I was all paranoid since I did not like the zipper design, it does not have a flap over them so light can penetrate in through since when the lights are on inside I can see light if I look at just the right angle. To test how bad it was going to be, I turned off all the lights inside the tent and turned on all the lights outside the tent, climbed in and had the wife zipper me in. Surprisingly it was dark in there. Where the plants are I could not see anything. total black out. If I put my face right up to the zippers and looked at just the right angle yep I could see light but as far as what the plants would see, I decided it was a non-issue.

The start of week 6 day 36 since flipping to 12/12 How time flies when your having fun and learning stuff every day ;)
The day started early for me today, got up at 2:45 so I would have time to grab a cup of coffee and a shower before driving "SHMBO" to Portland. Every year she does volunteer dental work along with many of the doctors she works with for the homeless and needy, so it was no inconvenience to me at all. Took a peek into the flower tent this morning once I got home and the lights came on and got a big hit of the aroma. Starting to get stronger every day.
Checked around, and no obvious signs of the lil SOB's so apparently the MJ Fairies are being kind to me. I finished bud building the Mango this morning and took a few picture of before and afters but the camera does not do it justice. I am going to let it dry out a little and take it across the street to my neighbor to sample once it is dry enough. Nice and sticky I will say that much.
Temps/RH% are basically all good in both tents, nothing to get excited over as of now, I still have plenty of time to screw this up ;)
Believe I am seeing a few deficiencies, thinking perhaps calcium. But unless it gets worse I am going to ride out the storm with the regiment I am presently doing.
The veg tent needs to slow the F' down, or height may be an issue in 4 weeks, live and learn but will run with them either way.

Flower tent is plugging along, had to add another support for Mango which is not breaking my heart, will be happy with what ever she gives me.

It was 29 degrees outside at my home this morning, and on the drive home from dropping "SWMBO" off, I saw countless homeless people sleeping on the sidewalks all along Burnside Street in Portland. It really made me think about how much we all have to be thankful for  I know we will be spending T-day with my brother and his family and am looking forward to it. I hope you all have a great holiday with your loved ones as well. We all have so much to be thankful for, and for me, you guys are part of what I am thankful for.:circle-of-love:

Day 37, holidays are upon us, last minute doctors appointments, and the dreaded daily honey dews list makes for a busy day. Sorry for the short update but rushed today.
Temps/RH% are all in the range I would like them to be, hope the weather continues to hold out.
Chopped grow #3 in 1/2 height wise. Going to need to do some up potting soon on all of the veg tent, hoping to get that done before the long weekend so I do not have that nagging the back of my mind.
No sign of SP yet, which I am happy about, least not yet anyway.
sorry about the pictures, not much change really and I pretty much only do them daily so I have a log of pictures to go back to to trace where an issue may have originated and was missed.

Hope everyone has a great day and your gardens stay green.
Oh and if you are interested in something different to watch on the ole television, may i suggest a show my son hooked me up with, it is called "The man in the high castle"
Cheers

Day 38 since 12/12 flip, wish I either was able to sleep in later or lights were on a different time schedule. Waiting over 3 hours for the lights to come on is driving me bonkers. Went crazy again today taking pictures but did not post them all, just the better ones.
1st peek into the tent and I thought things were basically unchanged, until I looked a little closer. The buds are starting to fatten up a little which is a great sign, since I still have plenty of time for them to grow. This week will be the last week I feed them nutrients, maybe the 1st 1/2 of next week too depending on what the trichomes look like under the scope. When I researched the flowering times of each strain in the tent I had flowering times from 52 days to 67 depending on which plant I was looking up. I know this is a general time not specifically written in stone. though not completely sure if those times are from flip or from actual signs of flowers. In the past I always just went by sight and how paranoid I was at the specific moment about getting caught. Probably not the best of methods.
Still seeing slight damage due to a calcium deficiency but it is so minor I am not going to let it bother me since all plants in nature have some deficiencies to one extreme or the other, and this appears to be pretty minor. After looking at the trichomes this morning I am going to guess I have somewhere between 3 to 4 more weeks. Wish I had more experience to narrow that down but either way I believe they have more then enough time to fatten up some before harvest.
No issues that I feel are important at this time other then the veg tent is starting to get taller then I was hoping for. Would prefer to put them into flower real soon but I still have some time to wait. Sucks not having enough light.
Here is the Veg tent this morning

you did a lot of defoling on the net ? I'm wondering if I need to do the same...
I honestly believe that is a personal choice, some people just tuck the fan leaves out of the way to prevent them from blocking the light, others defoliate to get more light down to the lower buds. In my case I did it because I found a few leaves with spider mights and decided to go "Rambo" or as some called it "Rambud" on them. I took any and all leaves that remotely looked like they had any sign of mites, then went a bit further. I believe that the choice of do you or don't you is for you to decided. But if you do decide to do it, may I suggest go in small steps, a little each day and watch and see the reaction of the plants. If it is something they do not like, they will show you in one way or another.

So the backbuilding worked for you? Great update OG, again the pics look fudging awesome. Are you planning a flush?
Ye I am planning on doing a flush just not exactly sure yet when I will start it. Though when I do I will do a flush of 5 times the volume of the pot each time I water. Maybe more depending on the PPM reading I get when I do it. The scrod is going to be a bitch since I will have to do it using a shop vac.
I also plan on doing the bud washing technique I have read about on the site. Though I will keep one cola of each plant unwashed so I can do a taste comparison of each. Will have to get either my brother or neighbor to do the taste test for me. or both of them.

Yeah, I'm still a bit iffy about the whole bud washing technique. Won't you wash off a lot of the triches? Any way good luck with that. I'll be watching.
hqdefault.jpg

I do it on all of mine now. No real lost trichs. Not enough to lessen the potency of the bud. Some now if I'm just doing a small plant or branch alone I have just been blasting it in the sink with the faucet changed to spray mode. Blast it with hot then cool, shake it off and hang it. With a big harvest I was according to the washing technique outlined around the forum.

Bud washing is not near as evasive as the video I watched yesterday on removing powdery mildew of buds. In the video he was using a spray nozzle and opening up the buds and spraying the hell out of them, then zoomed in on the trichomes. Yes some damage to the trichomes but not anything like you would imagine, pretty insignificant in my opinion, plus in the wash technique it is not as violent of a washing. Thinking the only way to be 100% sure if it is a good idea or not is to look at a bud and get an idea of how loaded with trichome it is, then wash it using the technique, then look at it again after it is washed to do a comparison. Though I honestly believe it will be just fine. Will be doing just that though myself to be safe though..:cheesygrinsmiley:

Man that screen is a beauty! What are your plans with the plants in the veg rent? Take clones off them and then put them in flower? They look huge already, after the stretch they are going to be like 9 ft tall lol how are you planning to control their height when going to flower?
May take a clone or two off them before I flip grow #2 but hard to say, I am really looking into a different strain for grow #4 so I might not. Maybe to trade for a different strain if I can line up someone who has something to trade ahead of time. As for the height, yeah that does have me slightly concerned but if push comes to shove I will chop a foot off if I have to. Stems are getting so thick even up high they will be hard to get under a scrog. Oh well, I will deal with that bridge when I get to it.

That's kind of why I was asking about height. Of push comes to shove, you know they are going to double in height, chop the top off and use that as your clone or two. Then the lower part of the plant I might be able to have the side branches all under a screen or go naturally, however you feel.

I have a few weeks make something happen, who knows maybe some LST to start opening her up and get her to lay down some, then make longer legs for the scrog. Just hard to say for sure, being I am kind of a knee jerk reaction type personality.Hmm only 6 more months in veg and I could move them outside for my outdoor grow :goof: Just kidding, those would be way to big for my outdoor grow, though they would be monsters if I did.
