Best start now while you still can see what's going on but start by taking only what's blocking lower buds. I'd get the undercarriage cleaned out as well to help with airflow. Loving the bamboo scrog!
bamboo scrog cost 2 euros but it's not very tight. will make it way less flexible next time.
here are some close ups of lemon amnesia on day 16 of flower
Cutting leaves stresses the plant. Leaves should be completely removed where the petiole meets the branch. That's the least amount of stress to the plant. Defol is stress enough without adding more!
got a link to some evidence of that. cos I defoil a fair bit normallty but I never done any test or research or even questioned it till I started reading forums. I noticed stunted growth at nodes with fans removed during veg. obviously plants recovered as veg. but don't wanna stunt my buds I dunno for sure if they recover.
Which part are you looking for evidence on, the cutting leaves vs taking them off or the fact that defol is necessary at all?
My feeling is defol should only be done when it is necessary to either 1) increase airflow and prevent mold or 2) to uncover bud sites that can't be uncovered by tucking. Yours falls under 1 at this point. 2 might be a possibility later in flower. The leaves under the canopy are not getting any light and can't contribute sugars to the buds.
I been doing a small amount of defoil every other day but the girls are super bushy. I tried trimming some bud blocking leaves down and removing biguest fan leaves but prob only 20% I'm gonna keep defoiling till day 21 of flower n then leave her unless I can find evidence to keep going.
