SleepDog’s Sour OG, Sherbert Kush & Bubba Kush: Soilless Grow Journal 2019

Ahoy There SleepDog from a fellow 420 new member. Hope you don't mind, I'm gonna join your grow audience and watch your thread. I am new to the forum and discovering how to interact without looking too silly. It seems like ideas and inputs are mostly welcome here at 420 so don't be surprised if this old hippie chimes in now and again. I have been a gardener for many years and still enjoy learning and listening to the newest of gardeners.

Welcome @Maritimer, I’m glad to have you follow along. The more the merrier, and yes, ideas and input is more than welcome.:passitleft:

Good evening folks. I was transplanting my Sherbert Kush from a 4 Gal plastic pot to a 7 Gal Geopot and noticed it was rootbound so bad I couldn’t see any soil. Most of the outer roots were turning an orange colour but still had lots of snap in them and not mushy. I definitely don’t over water, so I was wondering, could it be from underwatering and the outer layer of rootbound roots dying and drying. My damn phone was dead and I didn’t get a pic of roots but here is the plant.

I did just give it a good shot of the new nutrients, maybe that could have given them their orange colour. I tore a lot of them off during transplant and she isn’t even drooping today. Fingers crossed everything is good, I have never encountered root rot before and was getting kinda paro.

Any thoughts on my training techniques. My ceiling is only 4.5” tall so I pull the top down to the side and start pulling lower branches out to the open a s soon as I can to catch up to the branching above it. With the Sour OG I topped about 10 lower branches then let veg with LST for a couple weeks. Lollipopped it a bit and let it go to flower.
With the Sherbert I will probably take a few of the nicer lower branching sites for clones and then clean the rest of the mess from below and possibly get a screen on it.

Hello, I'm Mj and I'd like to share my thoughts. You seem really experienced and transferred it indoors really well. Your plants look fantastic bro. The Bubbas do appear calcium hungry tho. Your lst is solid. Looks near identical to my style. I'm a little concerned with her overall color. The Sour og. It may be the lighting but she seems light in color. She's gonna yield heavy I think!

I just started giving it new Nutes this last Tuesday (wasn’t sure if old Nutes were any good and was only using at 1/2 strength as well) and the smaller new growth leaves darkened up a bit under all the crystals. Buds don’t seem to be slowing down much but it is hard to tell being only a week or so since I noticed any colour change in leaves. It actually started by getting dark spots all along the leaf blade tips.

Increase your base nutes. I think you have multiple deficiencies. I go by EC not % so I'm not sure how much to increase. She's coming into peak flowering and that needs to be considered. Dude, the purpling? I've never seen that.
Thank you very much MJ. I will give her a full feeding with the new Nutes and I am going out to buy a new jug of calmag, mine is way to old to trust it. Hopefully I don’t hurt my yield too much with this setback. Another quick question, will it hurt it to give nites twice this week at 3/4 strength to get things back to where they should be or just regular feeding them water then regular feeding again?

Yeah 2 feeds sounds good. She'll appreciate it. Do you feed water feed?
Cheers MJ. I have been doing it this way because she dries in about 2-3 days and I don’t know enough about Nutes to really give it anymore. I will definitely do some more reading into feeding schedules.
What kind Of feeding schedule would you suggest?
Also, when I am going off the week schedule for Nutes, is this the amount needed for whole week or just the amount you should add when watering every time?

I'm doing peat and perlite for the first time and I'm at sprouting stage, so I haven't actually thought about it yet. If I were in your position, where I'll be in 2 months, I'd do feed feed water. Regarding feed schedules, if it says week 5, that's the amount Per Feeding for that week.
