I'm mixing up a 3rd bale of Faux Brix Mix as my 2nd bale is getting close to being used up and I don't want to get caught needing and not having soil ready to go on hand. So in preparation, I refigured the math to make the soil buffer, aka Faux Mix, except I aimed to to leave the calcium level as is, but to reduce the magnesium to 1/10th of the calcium. So instead of using only Garden Lime, I used Calcium Carbonate as well.
Also, since my EWC will arrive tomorrow, I'm forgoing the 3 day time needed to first buffer the peat, and mixing everything together into one amendment. I also am choosing to add Azomite to the mix as well as Iron-Zinc-Copper Sulfates to further mineralize the composition. So the original mix was aimed to emulate Doc Bud's First Run Amendment, and the overall weight of that was 20 ounces. When adding in the soil buffer, the overall weight increased substantially.
I'll call this Revision 3. Rev 2 is VERY good and my plants love it save for minor micro deficiencies I see, hence adding the sulfates. I re-amended the 2nd batch with the Iron and twice as much copper, but also wanted to add some Zinc, and experience suggested I should lessen the copper, so I did. If anyone uses this mix in the future, be mindful that deficiencies will show after about 2-3 weeks of water only, so I suggest using the drenches after transplants are watered in and have dried again.
