I'll be re-potting AKS shortly & then go into the flower tent to open out the Tangies to get better penetration through the canopy. I may as well make use of the spare footprint now Fluxy is dead. I'll be smoking some of her fluffy buds later :)

snake oil is a old US term for any product that claims fantastic things & actually is dangerous to use & does nothing at all .
the term was made popular in the 18th century IIRC

fertilizer companies in the Mj grow market are infamous for snake oil

I've just planted a Royal Queen Critical seedling with a big long tap root :) The other I have soaking isn't looking too good, it's an Original Sensible Kali AK, I soaked it for 48hs in water then transferred it to paper towel 48hrs ago. It has cracked open but only the tiniest bit of root has come out. I'll have another look in 2 days & see how it's doing, hopefully it's just a slow coach :)
 
Little update, we now have a new baby Critical :yahoo: She is standing proud in her root riot in the propagator. The Kali AK aint happening :(
In the veg room, all the girls have had a haircut & Tangy#1 clone had had a duck tape repair to a super cropping accident =/ The flower girls are looking nice & frosty with the buds stacking up nicely. There's a bit of evidence of ph fluctuation but nothing major to worry about. That's all I have for you so keep it green peeps :)
 
It happens mate, not all seeds are destined to make it unfortunately. Are you over on the darkside with your next beans then?
I've got my solo seeds soaking tonight. That's going to be a great little comp, Stumped pulled a blinder coming up with that one :)
 
Yeah, I'll be buying an old model topled light in October and I'll start growing autos under it. But i'll probably keep growing my photo strains in the flower room under the other light, and keep my clones in veg cab. Probably just grow the autos right in the middle of garage floor since I ain't gotta worry about light leaks.
 
The darkside lol i love it. They are the super villians off the weed world. I gotta say skunny i germinate in half glass off water until trap root shows and then stright into soil. I realise that you use coco so im not sure if it would have the same affect and i use auto seeds but i have a 100% success rate only done about 5 seeds this way though. So really what im even saying may not help lol (man i feel stoned) But maybe you may wanna try?? Dam i waffle on a bit

If it's just for veg, not autos, then I would go t5. No sense in wasting electricity on veg plants. Although a reflector would be nice, the initial cost wouldn't be beneficial over t5 in my opinion
 
The T5 gobble electricity though that's the biggest downside. An 8 tube 4ft is 432w & running 2x 96x3's on veg mode won't even use 300w so it'll pay for itself.

I've just convinced myself to go LED :)

I'm excited for the solo challenge, I'm wondering how to go, whether to train or go single cola

Welshy, the issue was with the seed & not the method. I germed a Critical at the side of it which is now a seedling. It was just a duff seed unfortunately :(
I'm not sure if it'd work in coco mate, the top dries out quickly. I used to do what you do when I was in soil but only when I had a big tap root :)

i for one found that my 8 tube 2ft t5 ran hotter than my 144x3's......just my experience.......i only use a little 2 tube 2ft for my seedlings which isnt used enough to switch out for led:)
