Skunnymonster's Multi-Strain Perpetual LED Grow

Hey Skunny
I was wondering at what hight you found the sweet spot for your light, to hang over your plants. I have mine at 30", and am think about moving mine down a nother 5 or 6 in.
Thank you KJ

Hi KJ, I'm not sure which you have so I'll give you the lowdown on both of mine.
I found my Mars best at 24", any lower & it shrinks the footprint & the plant doesn't look for the light. I think 18" would be ideal for flower though.
I've been lowering my 96x3 down from 2ft, then 18" & it's now at 12" for the 1st day today. They looked better at 18" than at 24" the footprint is still great at 12" with this one & it doesn't seem too intense when in veg mode. I can report back on this one better when I get home & see how they're looking :)

I've had a bit of good fortune regarding my new grow room build. A long time friend of mine is a builder by trade & he's agreed to take my multi-gym as part payment for materials & help me build my new growroom. So this means the build is imminent & I can pop more seeds, take some cuttings & grow lots more girlies in my new & improved garden :) I've decided to line the front wall & roof with insulation board rather than mylar so it'll be easier to control the environment & will be a much better build.

Here's a little picture update on my plants, the flux had a defol this morning & a touch of training tonight. I lowered the light to about 12" & the footprint fades just at the edge & all growth heads for the centre so I'll probably raise it tomorrow to 18"

LOOKS AWESOME MAN ! very pleased to see you ladies, the fluxed one is just exactly like i want mine in few weeks. (sorry for the paraphrase Jamba)

Still very good job mate

Looking great in here!!

It's Friday, which means it's update time :)
There's not much new to report really, I've been doing the usual defol & train every day or two on the flux. I've noticed it's been going a slightly lighter green & some browning on a few leaf tips so I gave it 2L of full strength PM grow 5ml/L & added 1.5ml/L of cal mag+. It wasn't due a feed, hence just giving her 2L. Hopefully it will giver the extra food she's been craving.

Here's lots of pics of the flux, the big fan leaves are still on one side where I got over excited & soft topped the arms. The new twin shoots are a bit small yet so the fan leafs can stay for now.

Last one is a dodgy pheno Tangerine, the leafs are a bit weird but she's a bit tidier underneath

Hiya budstep, I need to get around 6" of vertical growth 1st before the flip. I'm waiting on the new shoots to develop on the arms I've soft topped so it'll be a good while yet. I'd guess another 3 weeks so a total of 8 weeks veg or there abouts
Fluxing is not for the impatient, that's for sure.

Hi skunny

I am a very new grower just getting started and I was going to purchase a mars II from Sara. I was just wondering why you chose to buy one full spectrum and one flower. Is there an advantage to having one flower and one full. I was going to just buy a full spectrum 700w but wanted to get some advice first. If any one else would like to chime in any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!! :thanks:

I've not seen anyone use the flower spectrum so I bought it as an experiment really. I would hope it gives better results but until I flip to 12/12 it's going to remain a mystery.
The downside of the flower spectrum is it can only be used in flower as it is just has reds, whites & IR's with no blues. If you are going to just get one light for one tent then the full spectrum is the obvious choice as you can use it throughout your grow from seed to harvest. It is a proven light with great results so I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to you & think it is a great choice. Since starting this journal I've spoken to someone who uses the flower spectrum & he said it gives great results but he doesn't have the full spectrum so he couldn't offer any comparison unfortunately.

I'm sorry I can't give you a full assessment on both lights but I hope what I've said helps you in some way :)

Thanks Dusty, the 3 kids had some abuse this morning. I did some aggressive leaf bending to get light through to the branches so they now look like they've been trampled on :)
