Skottel Indoor Winter Grow With 3 Different Strains

Hello all, little update.
I think this plant got stunted with the few first days of load shedding. Some pistils are turning orange/brown. I don't really see that more pistils are shooting out when plant is being moved outdoors for sun light. I'm holding my thumbs. She hasn't got some water yet since friday. Her soil is still moist in the middle area. I have also put some supports in for her to not lean over.

Been taking her out every morning and then she goes under the light for her last 2 hours every evening.

I am going to have to take a step back and reboot everything I do with the next up coming grow. Will plan things better around this bloody load shedding.
Also the new 3 babies are doing allright outdoors and I'm quite excited to see how they will turn out for this summer grow.

Growers say that when the pistils turn brown/orange, they stop drinking and their smell increases, that's how you know they're done.

Apparently, trichomes don't mean as much for outside grows. @BeezLuiz said:

Plants under the sun will tend to amber up faster than indoor plants. While amber is certainly something to look at, it isn't the only thing that determines ripeness. I usually see amber on my outdoor grows before I see cloudy. I pay more attention to cloudy than I do amber. Some of the things I look at in addition to cloudy and amber: 1) If there's fresh pistil stigmas still popping out, it's probably not ready yet. 2) If your plants are still drinking water on their regular schedule, they are probably not ready yet. Plants will slow down their drinking requirements when it gets close to the harvest window. 3) This is a new one for me, but I've recently read that the flower's aroma will change once it gets close to ripe. I haven't tested that out myself.

He also sent samples from his outside plants to be tested and the results were very interesting.

Thanks for the tag, HashGirl. Regarding the smell, it's a bit subjective - at least for me. I've noticed that the smell changes as it nears harvest, but not necessarily increases. I actually think it decreases, and just smells different. Like I said, it's very subjective.

Hey hash! Thank you so much for the info and the tag. This is giving another perspective of what she might be doing. I have been giving my soil a lot of thought as well and think with the next indoor grow I will just use freedom farms going forward. I think the mushroom compost is not the best as I have seen some issues when wwtering with nutes.

Hey man, the smell is still quite strong on the plant. So will see what happen over the next 2 weeks. I just really hope that she fattens up a bit. I have been having this issue on my previous grows. Evertytime I start a indoor grow and then not long we get hit with loadshedding and my indoor grows are a failure then. Thanks dor popping in here.

Mine tend to decrease in smell as they get close to the end, so we have similar experiences there.

Congrats on the sprouts @Skottelgoed Spons!
Thank you shed. Will see how they turn out. The slurricane I have a 50/50 of being male or female as this was a seed we got from a indoor bud we had and the blueberry is from my previous outdoor grow so that will also be a 50/50. The hindu is a auto so hope she doesn't struggle like the last one I tried.

So had a look this morning at the girl when I took her out, there seems to be more pistils shooting out underneath which is a good sign. I will keep an eye out on her going forward. Hopefully she still stacks up on the flower. It would be a great blessing.

Here are some pics but this phone's camera is so crap with focusing. Need to get my p10 lite to charge as I used that phone camera that focus better and the close ups with that phone is much better than this.

Interestingly was just in another journal and was going to say a similar thing.

Sheds' and Bees' comments followed re smell, which was also interesting.

Couple times Ive thought about putting some of the common signs up, where a plant indicates its nearing, ready and moving past harvest....then remember every one is different, growers and their plants.

Id say you still have time @Skottelgoed Spons to wait her out if your looking for a gain.

To my eye she still has that sparse airy type look, the last 4 weeks, and especially the final 2 can add a great deal of bulk.

Wouldn't give up hope, some just are late to go heavier, and the cooler temps can slow/delay them.

Been seeing that she is still shooting some pistils. So will give her time still. I have also drilled some air holes at the bottom of the pot. Noticed the soil stays quite wet for long period. Rather want to avoid root rot while she is flowering. Hopefully this helps a bit as well.

Thank tou for stopping by and to give some input here. I will keep all guys uodated on the progress of getting her buds stacking up a bit more.

Enjoy your day guys! :thanks:

High guys!!

So finally going to start my 3rd indoor grow for winter. Finally finished the grow space and all that needs to happen is the growing.
So what am I planning for this grow? I got 3 different strains that I will be trying out.

Strains: 2 x Hindu Kush auto from bulkseed bank.
1 x NBA Diesel auto from bulkseed bank
1 x Cheese from my personal reg seeda.

Lighting: 1 focal @60w warm white 3500k, 1 focal @60w cool white 6000k and a 1000w burple that will be used later for flowering qithe 2 focals.

Grow space size: 1m x 900cm x 2m

Grow medium:
Seedlings: 20% coco coir, 20% perlite, 20% vermiculite and 40% local potting soil sifted to remove unnecessary large bits.

Veg/flower: 20% mushroom compost, 15% perlite, 15% vermiculite, 15% coco coir, 25% local potting soil

Pots: 1L pots for germinating seeds
3 x 20l for autos
1 x 10l for reg seed

Nutes: nutrifeed and kelpak my go to for all my grows and had great results on my outdoor grows with these nutes.
Water: 6.2ph'd

So all seeds will be started off straight into the soil due to great success of it popping for me everytime with this method. I'm planning on running them under 24hour light for the first week where I will flip it to 20hr on and 4hr off. I am really excited as this will be my first auto grow except for the cheese. Hopefully I can get some great success from these girls.

Stay safe and lit up those joints! Stay tuned. :Rasta::ganjamon:

No autos here anymore. Only the one photperiod that is going. The hindu didn't make it. I have started an auto for outdoor grow. I will be starting another journal soon with another hindu auto and a fem C99.

Hi all,

Little update on the cheese. She is doing well with the day light. Been putting her outside on the 12hour mark each day and carry her inside on the 12hour mark. She is still shooting pistils but not at the rate I have hoped for. I have flushed her soil with ph 6.3 water. Seems that the plant is getting a bit of a nute burn and the reason behind this could be the mushroom compost I used in the soil mix. This will be the last time I'll use this soil for indoor grows. Her pot is becoming lighter now so she will be getting some water soon with a lighter nute count than the previous.

Another front yard plant just like Keith's! Ballsy. :)
Luckily I have awesome neighbors that isn't too bothered by it. The retired guy across the street still keeps an eye out on my plants during the day :p

Nice that you have a friendly neighbor who keeps a eye out! :)

Yeah, him and his wife are quite open minded about it after I explained the whole shabam about cannabis. All the neighbors are quite open minded about it now and will feom time to time just walk by the plants during the day to just look at it. But with summer now, I will be having some plants at the back yard out of eyes view.

Just want to find out. Is is fine to add mycorrhizae in my water and give it to the plant while in flowering? I have also tried to take a close up shot of one of the buds. Seems like she is starting push out a bit more pistils. So I really hope she fattening up. I have given her, her water and food yesterday. Nute ppm is at 850 from 1100 because of the mushroom compost. Will see what she is doing with the lower nute count.
