Azi,

I prefaced this earlier today with a today my mind is elsewhere day. Then it ended with my up-pot dilemma. I have my head in the clouds of smoke. Let's just say when Gringuito said Swick, my interpretation was that of a word play-Wick/Sweet set up=Swick.

I don't know what to say other than I blame the weed

Why did I just see this weird light's pic? That's weird. What else you got over there? I doubt that has any true wattage past 50 unfortunately
I thought it was maybe some kind of modern art or maybe one of those stupid games from the 70s but you said that it’s a light ? Lmao 🤣 CL🍀

That’s the 1, wow great memory Krissi. CL🍀

My problem is with locating things, key’s, lighters, money and very important papers. CL🍀

Oh no, we have one of these on our hands. Your kind of people need to have SIPs in your life. You're in the right place. This makes things so much easier  :high-five:

Yeah but I have a really great watering day ritual. Because patience is not 1 of my virtues I find that if I smoke large amounts 1st I get easily distracted and forget about watering. And if it’s really good stuff it can be hours b4 I finish. Lmao 🤣 CL🍀

Ah, OK, those are Swicks. That makes more sense. Krissi's probably trying to see if I'm paying attention. :laughtwo:

I'd like to keep this thread to SIPs, but you could start one similar for SWICKs. I don't know much about them but would be happy to learn.
KK.
I think it is the same principle, just that SWICK uses a wick to connect to the cloth pot, and then the cloth pot wicks from there.
Probably it pays to have different size wicks, to dial in the dampness?

Have you ever tested the TDS of the res water? I wonder how it would compare to runoff from a regular pot.
I actually test regularly. Because I'm fertigating from below using a passive system, with synth nutes and I grow in ProMix HP, I have had serious concerns about the possibility of the matrix retaining ferts and developing a 'salt line' or otherwise type of build-up and subsequent toxicity.

I have a special pump that I use both for feeding and extracting samples so every time I add ferts, which is only weekly at the current high consumption level, end of 12/12 week 4. Before adding new I test the remaining already onboard. Thankfully I've never had a PPM reading that exceeded the ppm levels of the fertilizer last applied, which would indicate the feared toxicity-causing fert retention.

Nonetheless, I did design my system to be easily flushed as I thought it may be necc. to do a preventative flush once every cycle. On this, my first run with cannabis in the current design, I did undertake a preventative flush midway on one SIP planter that was giving me some trouble on one of the two plants. The flush was easy, the runoff not unexpectedly high, recovery went smoothy, and ultimately I concluded the issue was a plant whose own metabolism was burning itself out but had to share a reservoir with a plant requiring 'normal' fert ppms. I'm running fairly moderate ppm at 1.0 EC and have some worm castings and compost contributing but in quite small amounts.
Sorry Shed, I'm still working on giving more succinct (short) and concise (even shorter) answers to people's questions
I'd probably tie it back together with a splint and give it a week before flip, but given your new abundance maybe try it all together . You know, for science!

@Tokin Roll , please let us know how it works out!
Hi EG, the sacks are made of a synthetic fibre that will break down much, much faster than a plastic of same weight, but not compost like a gardener thinks of it. I first came across them in the forestry sector years ago where they are very popular and designed specifically to gov't regs for environmental impact circa. late 90's.

@Tokin Roll I've even seen two nice plants flowered in those Earthboxes. Not a recommendation, just an anecdote. Kootsmeds has some interesting youtube vids using them, among other solid reference gems he's posted.

All aboard the Mothersip!

Well thanks for explaining, I spent some time trying to figure that out; given it takes me time to understand people I figured there was something interesting I missed! A new tiny person in the family you say? Say no more... :yahoo: 🥺o_O Best regards.

If you drill into the reviews on the Yangtzee River you can see a short video review that shows the SWICK.
I bought 4 and will review them when they get here. (Is that OK for the SIP Club? Or do I start a new thread for the SWICK club? Haha.)

@Costanza is using these now, currently in flower. They look like thwy work well.

You got to me and I ordered a 17 inch square earthbox to try! Here we go!
Now we're talkin'! Welcome to the Club, SO!

An Earthbox and your The Rev's soil might give you an unfair advantage (ok,  more of an unfair advantage) over the rest of us, but still post your pics. We may be jealous, but we still want to see 'em. :laughtwo:

Hah! I'm guardedly happy to try it Azi! Sounds like fun! I'll put it in the 3 x 3 for a run. It's a little scary!

Hey dog!
Thanks.

I had a homemade SIP that I had to rescue the seedling.
It sat there and did almost nothing for three or four weeks, and then suddenly it took off about the same time it began flowering.
Maybe what I saw was the auto going into stretch?? But it really was kinda scary how fast that plant grew!
It seemed like each time I looked at it, it was visibly bigger....

(I would have let it flower out, except that we had to cut everything for the move.)

Nah. The pot does all the work. All you have to do differently is remember
to water though the fill tube. Oh, and not get too close. :morenutes:
