Shottafire's - Bubba OG Sealed Medical Grow in Sunshine #4

Yum, been waiting for that update. Couple more weeks shotta! How is the dj short looking brosef? :thumb:

-CA
Let me just say that the Dj short blueberry smells so delicious it makes you want to eat
The buds right off the plant. Ridiculous good candy smell. The flo has no smell really yet but
I still have high hopes on her finish. The grape Krush is the candidate for a full tray. But I know my
Bubba so well now that I am afraid to run a full tray of something I have not run.

I am going to keep the Dj short gear around for awhile as long as i can

Thanks for dropping in ca215. Need to stop by your journal later on when I am off

Thanks for the question and the kind words!

My room is sealed running two air cooled thousands in blockbuster reflectors.

The lights are cooled with a 8" max fan. Veg has a 600 watt with a 4 foot 4 bulb t5. I will cool the 600 soon which should help give my ac a break.

Now depending on how hot it gets in the summer, the size and number of lights you run, and all the equipment will determine how big of a ac you will need.

My ac is a 12,000 btu mini split but let me just say I wish I got the 18,000 btu. I am going to be fighting the heat with this ac this summer. I think there is some btu calculator. I think the rule of thumb is 4500 give or take btu's per 1kw fixture. I love the mini split it cools very efficiently and makes hardly any noise and zero odor outside as well. Very stealth unless someone comes in the backyard and sees the compressor which no one will since there is no access.

Co2 is enriched via tank through a cap ppm4 which keeps me up above 1000-1500 I believe. Need to get a fuzzy logic. the timer method works well but since using the ppm-4 I had considerable growth and love the simplicity the controller provides me. My tanks used to last two weeks now they last me a week but it means they are getting ample amounts at all times during lights on.

Hope this helps some and could help you out in the future.

Thanks for the response. You've helped reinforce that I'm probably on the right track to seal my room. Is that big fan and filter to scrub the air? Is this an effort to reduce odor? I've noticed that other growers with sealed rooms scrub the air like that, but I never understood why unless it was to reduce reduce odor.

I cannot use a mini split for a variety of reasons. Most could be overcome, but stealth is the main reason I won't do it. My backyard is not secure, or even private. Having a compressor running while it's snowing would draw suspicion.

4500 BTU/1000W lamp is about right. It depends on whether or not the light is vented of course. I've read you need ~3000 BTU for vented lights and 5K BTU for open reflectors. Of course, there are other factors such as, ambient temp of the room (basement FTW!), other heat producing devices, ie dehumidifier, CO2 generator.

I run 2250W (3 x 750W) of HPS currently. I'm actually planning to reduce that to 1500W after this harvest. I'm going to remove one light and put the other 2 on a mover. I know that this will reduce my temps ~5-6*F. The portables I'm looking at are all 14k BTU. That should be plenty of 'overkill'. I'm already planning to have to buy another unit for the other flowering room when I build it, so this unit will only ever have to cool this one 6'x12' space. It should be adequate.

Thanks again for the response. I think I'll proceed with my plans to get the 14k portable AC and the CAP Gen-1e CO2 generator. I'll add controllers later.

Btw, it looks like I'm exactly a week behind you. Mine are on day 42 of flower. :)

Sounds like a keeper cant wait to see that baby full&grown!!, half tray bubba, other half grape kush? I think I remember reading that the grape wasn't as one of the bigger producers, but goodgood smoke? Either way you can't go wrong with that bubba by the looks of it, you're killin' it shotta!!

You are definitely on the right track. My filter is a standalone just to keep me smelling good and not leaking odors anywhere outside the room. Make sure you research the portables as some of them tend to leak odors out in the exhaust from what I hear.

How hot do your summers get? if your in a moderate zone and it rarely breaks 100 in the summer you should be able to get away with a smaller one. But it is real important you size it right to get the best performance and to keep it from running constantly.

Right now mine turns on for 4-5 minutes and it is off for 4-5 minutes. I wish I got the 18000 or the 24000 really so it would cycle on for 2-3 minutes and be off for 5-6 minutes. I dont even know if this is right just trial and error along with extensive research on ac/dehumid in sealed rooms.

Stoked your right behind me. Yeah this next week should be busy for me. getting all ready for the trim party. me myself and I. LOL
Sometimes I wish I had help but I prefer to be a one man island. I feel bad even going to the club the one time I did let alone the quality is terrible now that I actualy know the difference between properly grown herb and commercially produced shit.

Everything is coming along nicely for you hiker, and I am glad you found that blockage in your lines.

+reps buddy

I am not so sure grape krush is a low producer it is beating out the blueberry and the flo in terms of size and crystal production. we will see.

Thanks ca215 glad you liked the update.

quick drive by Shotta:) hope things good:peace:

Things are good. My wifey is still in a state of postpartum depression and dealing with it is exhausting me to say the least. I have been
diligently trying to give a her a break for a few hours everyday, which leaves me with barely enough time to take a shit let alone care for the garden, the baby, our business, and house duties. I am left with little to no time for me. But i can do it as long as i know there is a end in sight. could be a long one but hoping it is short like next week. hahaha. i still love her though.

excuse the run on sentences and horrible punctuations. lol.

And thank you for stopping by jon. just needed to vent.

Keep at it mate it always pays off in the end. Trust me ;) nothing worth having was given. The best things in life are earned

Great grow shottafire,

Them last nug shots are some of the best looking buds i've seen this year on 420. They have so much structure, no air, just popped calyx's! Good job mate , reps come as standard for them mate!!

Hope your home sitch gets sorted and your wifey feels better soon mate, sending love brother :)

Thank you buddy. I was raised in a house where i had to have a job when I was 16 and i had to do chores. do kids even do chores anymore lol. I know what hard work is and this has been the hardest so far. Everything is good though, our baby is healthy whats to complain about.

Day 51 tonight. Looking fat

Man I am honored. Thank you jb42. Oh snap is this jbsea4twenty?

Thanks buddy really pleased with how they have turned out. another 10 days or so probably.

Thanks for the reps and sending the love right back brother.

Thanks for that feedback Shotta. I really appreciate being able to bounce ideas off someone with a sealed room.

It does not get that hot here in the Summer. I'm barely south of 49 degrees (ie US/Canada border).
A mini split is extremely problematic for my situation. The portable(s) will work better for me I think. The largest they come in is 14k unless you start getting into commercial units, such as those made to keep a data center cool when the AC dies. The price also jumps significantly. I'm currently running 2250 watts. Assuming 5K per 1000W, I need ~12K, so I should be OK. I'll be removing 1 light before summer hits too, so the load on the AC will go down even more then (switching to 2 lights on a mover instead of 3 stationary).

Hang in there my friend. Just remember your wife still loves you too, and you're doing it for both of your girls! :)
I don't feel so bad now about my workload. I only have the wife, 50-60 hour job, a coupe dogs, and my grow room. If I had to add kids to that, I'd never be able to do it. As it is I only sleep 5-6 hours a night. Needless to say, I sleep until 10:30 on Saturdays :biglaugh:

Amen to that brother. Hope things look up for ya soon. If ur feeling to down click back a.page and look at what's about to come down ;)

Its the best we can do. Postpartum depression is a real challenge, just remember if its this hard for you imagine how hard it is for her, she's got a good man and a healthy baby. Be there and strong as you have and she will surely come around and love you that much more for being everything you promised to be when u put that ring on her finger. Nothing but good vibes your way mate :Namaste:

Looking like next saturday at 60 days I will be chopping give or take a day or so.

when chopping do most of you let the medium dry out before so. I noticed I get a faster dry time if I let the soil dry out a fair amount.
Just a thought I had.?

beautiful nugs! Im kinda going through the same thing with my wife atm bro so I feel ya, its hard some days to stay positive, well worth it in the long run imo:) positive vibes coming from Canada brotha:peace:

Thanks jon. I love the support here.
sending those positive vibes right back to you braddah.

they sure do look tasty right about now. cant wait to see what the girls reward me with.
thanks for reps as well
