Today in Das Schloss

I moved the Window Sill Sistas out of the window sill and into Das Schloss a couple of days ago, and to be honest, things have been a bit of a challenge with the environment out there in the garage. The plants appear to be suffering from cooler temps and or a humidity issue. My VPD is struggling.

In particular one plant really was droopy and lethargic looking, the other better, but showing signs of droopiness as well. Definitely not praying up towards the light.

So my solution for the last 24 hours was to drop the humidity as low as ambient would let me. And to a degree, they have made a bit of a recovery....they were worse.

Today, I have put the heat mat underneath them to try and keep them a bit warmer. The weather here is about to degrade to freezing or barely above freezing for the next couple of nights and highs of 5 degrees C (40 ish degrees F).

They may have to get dragged back to the window sill again...we'll see.

Sorry about the temps out there. :( Given how big the heat mat is can you prop up all the sides and warm the pots from all directions?

Its not very flexible.....one would have to band it in some way. That being said the temp gauge is in the soil set for 23 degrees and its reading 22.7.

It is doing its job.

have you tried a space heater BVP ? i run one in my veg space. i elevate the plants and have it under. i can get my temps from 14 c to a stable 30c. i have it running about 26 - 27c right now with seedlings.

No...I have not, as I only have a 1500 watt one. I don't care to burn that much wattage in there.

However, the 48 watt heating mat is working well. The plants have recovered, especially the back one.

i like the space heater as it's temp controlled. the seedling mats are good for establishing seedlings but they will cook your roots and kill the larger ones pretty easy if not careful.
 
Today in Das Schloss.

Weather is looking good in the upcoming week. No longer needing the incubation heat, I have turned off the seedling mat.

Plants are going through wet dry cycle about every week and hopefully in a week or 2, I will have some clones in peat pellets waiting to porcupine up in the Humiditorium.

The plants look much happier then my last post. They are also looking really Indica leaning as well.

The heat did the trick and they're looking ready to give up their limbs! Do you ever clone the tops or just the sides?

Thanks Keith! I've done it a few times (I find they're not quite as reliable as lower node branches) so I was curious if the Baron was going to give it a shot.

Depending on how many clones I want/need, I always always start with the tops. As my clones are always so small, these are the biggest most robust part of the plant, and hence the biggest most robust clones. I do take the sides too...and I will be for these.

I will be taking the tops and 2 of the biggest sides from each plant for 6 clones.

The Mothers will go to Das Hinterhof, and hopefully, the clones will all be roughly the same size for Das Schloss.

Bad? They're actually good because if you do them early you can get symmetrical nodes still. I just find them more challenging to root than lower branches.

Today in Das Schloss.

I have clipped away the majority of large fan leaves in hopes that it will activate growth in all the side shoots . Thus yielding some larger clones.

Im thinking in another week or so, I will be clipping for clones.

I'm curious to see whether that stimulates side growth or top growth. I would think the best way to get the sides moving would be topping it (and cloning that), but if it's too early then it's too early!

Ive been thinking about this for a few days now, so it was time to put it to test. It all makes sense in my head.

At least, thats what the vape was telling me.
