Here is what I do and it’s worked great every time so far.
1. Harvest plant and remove fan leaves.
2. Wash buds using 3 bucket system. Bucket 1 = 1/4-1/2 cup of lemon juice and 1/4-1/2 cup of baking soda. Bucket 2 and 3 = filtered water. Not too cold and not too hot. Don’t bang buds on side or bottom of buckets.
3. Hang dry for 4 -12 hrs.
4. Remove buds from branches.
5. Bag up ~1 oz of bud per small paper lunch bag. Will dry to about 1/4 oz each when done.
6. Fold tops over and lay bags flat in refrigerator with buds spread out best as possible. Bags can be stacked if needed.
7. Remove bags from fridge every 3 days and bounce them around a bit. Place back in the fridge.
8. At 2 week mark check rh of buds by jarring some up with hygrometer for a couple hrs. If rh is 70 or above then back in the bags and in the fridge. If lower than 70 I jar them up or put them in turkey bags for the cure.
9. For curing I burp twice a day for about a week and a half and then every 2-3 days for a week or so. Then I leave them for close to a week before opening. This give a nice month cure by the end.
10. During cure I don’t use any bovedas or anything like that unless the rh drops below 58. Then I will add one to keep the buds in that range. I like 62 myself.
End product should be some excellent quality nugs that smoke super smooth. Low and slow removes all the harshness of the smoke. Among other benefits. Some genetics seem to come with a cough. That stays. Lol. But any harshness from chlorophyll will be gone.
Also, if the rh is still real high after 2 weeks, you can speed drying up at that point while still maintaining the benefits of the low and slow. I have left mine out for a few hrs at a time before returning to fridge or I have used the rice ball method that is in
