Seedling not shedding shell

One thing to try in the future is plant the seed tap root up. When the seed orientates itself it helps knock the helmet off.


Well this makes total sense. I could almost swear that almost every other thing I've read over the years said the inverse. Like pointing the root downward would give it a better chance at routing, or maybe I surmised that might be the reason. But that doesn't make much sense, and I can never get it perfectly placed in the soil with the root down anyways.

Anytime... I'm glad you found it useful. When I first came across it I was thinking the same thing as you, but doing it this way I can honestly say I've never had helmet head. Maybe lucky, but as you mentioned, it all makes sense doing it this way.
