Second Outdoor Desert Autoflower In Arizona

Thinking mostly cloudy with a few clears still? What do you guys think @InTheShed, @Mdlroad, @BigD13, and @Carcass? Hope you guys don’t mind me calling you. Trying to figure out how much longer I got, and when to try my next tester bud.

Still seems like too many clear but what do I know. When was last tester bud? Have another soon

It was about a week ago I think. I forgot about it for 2 days, outside, so it was very dry, lol. I’m still having a hard time telling clear from cloudy so other eyes help!

She's real close, but not quite there- plenty of cloudy, but no (or very few) ambers on the calyx'
I'm with Shed- wait a few days, and give her another test- you may just decide she's "ready enough".

High of 106 today and next couple of days. I’m guessing I’ll prob have to start watering PP twice a day in the cloth pot, since I’m at once a day and she’s pretty dry by then. Started using hose water in between feedings, and saving the RO water for the nutes. Took a tester off the BB today. Should be ready in a few hours, I’ll report back.

So the tester bud was pretty nice. Pretty balanced high. Not couch locky but not too speedy. I’m feeling no pain right now. Not super strong but neither was my last plant that I let go longer. So not sure if it would get stronger or if that is just a factor of my grow conditions etc? I’ll have to look at tricomes later, too hot right now. I may harvest this weekend.

Also not sure what my next move for the photos is going to be. They’re both showing roots out the bottom now, both around 2 1/2 feet tall. I can upgrade to a 15 plastic nursery pot, but I won’t be able to bury them as deep as I hit the cement (what passes for our native soil lol) about the depth of the current 5 gal pots.

I also have 10 gallon fabric pots. I just went outside to take this picture just now and felt the fabric pot that the auto flower is in, and it was surprisingly cool, actually cooler than the soil in the garden bed was. And it’s 106 out right now.

The only bad thing about those is it would require a lot more water during the heat of summer. I am going to mix the pro mix moisture and sunshine mix half-and-half to help with more moisture retention. So that may help vs the autos which are in straight sunshine.
Decisions, decisions!!

10 gallon cloth pots with the water-retaining mix sounds like the way to go!
Thanks! That’s the way I’m leaning too. Now to just hope for some rain soon so I can stop hauling RO water.

Nice to get good results. How many plants you gonna harvest

Only the BB is ready. The PP was a little behind. Plus I don’t think I could harvest more than one at a time! It gets hot pretty early now.

Plugged the fridge into the inkbird to test it out. Plugged it in 2 hours ago and it’s already down to 60 from 105. I was a little worried about it out in the heat but it seems to be doing OK. I turned the thermostat in the fridge up to max/high. And set the inkbird for 45 with a 3° Range and 10 min compressor delay. Does that sound about right?

The buds on the BB are getting so heavy they are pulling some of the branches down.

Is that buildup on the cloth pot normal or a sign I over-nuted?

I looked with the loupe again, and took some shitty pictures with my iPhone, lol.

This one is natural indirect sunlight

These 2 are with the led on the loupe.

I'd say you still have time on those buds!
I turned the thermostat in the fridge up to max/high. Is that correct?
Probably, but you'll know when the fridge settles at one temperature.

Stake them up!

No, it's normal with synthetic nutes, especially given your heat. You might want to make sure you get good runoff all around the pot when you water though, to keep the salts from accumulating in the soil there.

Getting close tho right? It’s at 98 days it’s gotta be getting close!

I’ve watered a couple times with our well water too which prob doesn’t help. I tested it and it’s 440 ppm on the el cheapo meter I have (and that’s after the water district runs a percentage thru RO) I picked up some more water and ice RO water today so I’ll give her good runoff next time with that.

Max should work. Remember that the Inkbird will be controlling the temp now. Your temp and range settings settings look good. And like Shed said, the temp will stabilize. I use a Bluetooth compatible indoor/outdoor thermometer connected to an app on my phone that lets me see the min/max as well as average temps.

Checking trichomes can be tricky. I try to look not only at the close up trichomes but also the ones further away, kinda like in the background. Sometimes I can get a better idea from the ones in the background maybe because of less reflected light from the light on my loupe.

I don’t have a Bluetooth thermometer but mine does record max amd min, so at least I can make sure it’s staying in range.
I find checking the tricomes to be VERY tricky so far, lol. Very hard to hold still enough between the wind and my body movements to get a look at anything for more than a split second.
