Second Outdoor Desert Autoflower In Arizona

@InTheShed
Thanks! I can’t get it until Tuesday. I have Dr. Bronners hemp and peppermint liquid soap. Could I use that in the meantime? I also have neem.

Well @InTheShed you were correct. It’s thrips. Got out the loupe again this morning and found the nymphs crawling around. I sprayed some of the alcohol/water mix on the leaves this morning, and have the safer soap on order. When I get it do I spray the buds too or just the leaves? And then just rinse them off after an hour or so?

Thanks again. I may run to Ace and get some safers RTU while I’m waiting on the Amazon concentrate. I found that heavily infested leaf pictured above hiding on the inside of the plant, so it is much worse than I previously thought.

Good luck! I believe I had better luck with Spinosad than with Safety, but it still didn’t get everything. I’ll be curious to see how things go - keep us updated.
I looked at that too but I wasn’t sure if that is safe in late bloom? Our son was running to Walmart, so to save me a trip since we live 30 minutes out of town, I’m having him pick up some thing from there. They only have Captain Jack’s super insecticidal soap, which is .95% potassium salts and .005% Spinosad. I guess I’ll give that a try and try to avoid getting the blooms.

@gratefulredhead and @InTheShed
Great! That’s very helpful, thanks!!

I will use the Spinosad soap combo on my cannabis. And since they only had one 16 ounce RTU bottle at Walmart, I think I will mix some of the Bronner‘s peppermint and neem for the rest of my veggie plants. Prob best to treat everyone.

Being as dry as it is here, do you think I’ll be safe spraying it tonight at dusk, letting it dry overnight and washing it off tmo a.m.?

My husband’s off tomorrow as well, and he’ll kill me if I set an alarm to get up at the crack of dawn LOL. I am worried that all that spraying in the morning (all 5 pot plants, plus 4 huge tomatoes, 3 eggplants, 4 peppers) waiting for it to dry, and then hosing it off will push me time wise into too much direct sunlight on the plants while wet.

OK thanks I’m thinking I’ll go with the Bronner’s, as I think it has less oil, and less oil in this heat is always a good thing.

Now that I’ve got a plan for the thrips, on to a a quick update.
Temps been running about 103 here, a few degrees higher than forecast. Everything seems to be handling the heat well so far, but we’ll have to see how the photos do once it hits 115 or so. Hoping the 50% white shade cloth will keep the heat down in the garden.

The BB is slowing down on water, compared to the PP, so thinking it will be ready soon. The test bud had a nice high but not too strong yet.

The PP is needing water every day now. I switched to feed water feed for nutes since it is getting watered way more often than usual.

The photos seem to be doing well with the higher nute schedule.

The TD that gets the Simply Professional nutes is already growing roots out the drain holes. No sign of roots on the DP yet.

What shade cloth are they under now?
The 50% white. It’s supposed to lower temps and offer better light diffusion than the black shades. Put it up a couple weeks ago.
