Scarfinger68's - Soil - CFL - Aurora Indica Journal - 2013

Aurora Indica day 24 from seed.

I topped the top 2 branches. I am not positive on how soon you can top. The top 2 braches are about an inch to 1.5 inches long. I spread the 2 fan leaves back and found the little ball of new growth. Pinched them low enough to top them. If I didn't get low enough, oh well I guess its a FIM then :)

Still in the 24 ounce cups. I will be transplanting to 1 gallon pots and or 6" square pots soon.

Runoff PH. As long as runoff is in the 6's (yellow) to high 6's/low 7's (yellow with a tinge of green) my plants do pretty well.

I am subscribed to so many threads it is hard to keep up. If I don't make my rounds, don't take offense.

Aurora Indica, day 31 VEG:

Slight problem... Spider mites in the VEG room. Only had damage on one leaf of an ICE clone. I threw the clone away because I have to many plants as it is with seeds in the refrigerator (blue dream) lined up for the next grow.

I did some damage control: Sprayed down all the plants in VEG with an "organic" bug killer spray I bought at a local store that listed spider mites on its kill list. Sprayed under and on top the leaves. Opened up a new "Hot Shot" bug strip.

After topping the 4th node, the 3rd nodes grew up to the top. So, I topped the 3rd nodes last night. Blue is the 4th node, red is the 3rd node.

I have noticed that the Aurora Indica responds differently to topping, watering and stress in general. Her leaves are a little more crinkly and tend to twist with stress from the fan blowing on them. Also with watering they tend to look like a drowned them after words.

Also noticed some slight clawing that looks like nitrogen toxicity. I will take it easy on the nutes. So far I gave a light feeding at day 21 and day 28. I will give it a break for the ferts for a few weeks.

Plan on transplanting to 1 gallon pots tomorrow if I am not to lazy.

Flower Room: ICE and Snow White day 31 Flower.

1/2 strength ferts at day 21 and day 28. Even with watering first and then applying the ferts I still got some new nute burn.

Nute burn. It looks a little more orange with the lights off.

Bud shot. Everything is looking good. Keeping a close eye out for spider mite damage. None yet.

Ordered a new glass pipe for my wife. It is suppose to keep the ash from getting in your mouth. My wife complained she was getting ash in her mouth with my current glass pipe.

Current:

New pipe with "ash-catcher" mouth hole and twisted tube. It also is suppose to change colors? :)

Looking good scar.

Bummer on the spider mites, maybe get some lady bugs to keep them under control? but then cant use pesticide. As you probably know i having my own spider mite issues, as long as they do not get on buds I think ok. The plants can handle a few little pokes. They are so hard to get rid of completely once they get in a space.

that doesn't even look like true nutrient burn, it looks like splash back burn. great work man, as always.

I would end up sleeping with lady bugs then... It was very small outbreak and I caught it early. I should be ok. My old "hot shot" bug strip was way past its expiration date. Replaced that so I should be good.

What is splash back burn? I tend to get these markings/burn spots after transplanting and sometimes after giving nutes.

it looks like a nutrient solution was "spalshed" on the leaves and its not from true root burn.

I showed my wife the new pipe I ordered for her. She says, Oh! Did I ever show you this? She pulls out a glass bubbler. Turns out a glass blower friend of my Stepson's made him this pipe. Well, I cleaned it up and took a few hits. I feel like I get a bigger pull because you have to make the smoke travel farther.

I much prefer this glass bubbler pipe to wood, or straight pipes so far. Smoke seemed cooler, didn't burn my throat, and tasted cleaner. I have a limited repertoire when it comes to smoking devices as it is. But hey! pass the bubbler... *puff *puff *pass...

VEG room: Aurora Indica 33 days from seed.

Transplanted 2 plants to 1 gallon pots and 1 plant to a 6" squared pot. I made sure to push the soil down around the edges to prevent any air pockets. I think Spimp referenced McLoadie's advice. I did notice some air pockets from the very first transplant. Looks like I need to be more vigilant on keeping air pockets out :). Always learning something!

I washed the table because it was getting pretty dirty in the VEG room.

I topped all the new growth and anything that had grown up from the bottom equal to the canopy. I was going to wait a day or 2 before topping but then said the heck with it. I will give it a few days recovery time and then start some LST/HST and continue topping along the way.

Flower Room: ICE and Snow White 33 days of 12/12.

Watered and gave a light feeding of flower nutes. Looks like the ICE is getting a little pale. Will add some nitrogen with the flower nutes next feeding, probably in 2 days.

Watered with some extra runoff. I have some discoloration going on from to much nutes. Maybe the Aurora Indica is a little more sensitive to nutes? But I know that I fertilized it to soon. So no big deal. I will just water them for a week with some runoff. They will be fine.

I did some LST to them.

Not to much going on. Spider mites are gone. ICE and Snow White are looking good in the Flower Box. Starting to get some fragrance to them.
