If you are upping the nutes you won't get leaf drop. That happens when they are needing nutes. Not talking about one or two leaves. That just happens and from the bottom of the plant. Going up you are more likely to see a burnt leaf tip, spots on the leaves and/or the leaf pointing noticably down and kind of a dull green color. A lot safer to keep it lower and keep them wanting then to overnute and have to go through the recovery time that it takes to get back on schedule.
If my ph rises I set my add water at about 5.0 and then mix in the tank. If it needs further adjustment at that time I do it in small increments. I use 5ml (1tsp) of PH down per tank at a time. As long as I am between 5.5 and 6.5 I know it's cool. Key is to make a change and then wait for the results. Things in nature don't happen fast and it shouldn't in your garden. It's the jerking around that stresses them.
