Scaredeecat First Grow White Widow & BB, Magic Bud, Critical Jack, Moby Dick #2

Re: Scaredeecat first grow whitewidow&bb, magic bud, critical jack, moby dick#2

If you are upping the nutes you won't get leaf drop. That happens when they are needing nutes. Not talking about one or two leaves. That just happens and from the bottom of the plant. Going up you are more likely to see a burnt leaf tip, spots on the leaves and/or the leaf pointing noticably down and kind of a dull green color. A lot safer to keep it lower and keep them wanting then to overnute and have to go through the recovery time that it takes to get back on schedule.

If my ph rises I set my add water at about 5.0 and then mix in the tank. If it needs further adjustment at that time I do it in small increments. I use 5ml (1tsp) of PH down per tank at a time. As long as I am between 5.5 and 6.5 I know it's cool. Key is to make a change and then wait for the results. Things in nature don't happen fast and it shouldn't in your garden. It's the jerking around that stresses them.

i noticed that cj leaves had drooped some this afternoon and the tops also no nute burn though so i removed one gallon and added back gallon ph correct plain water, the nutes had dropped to 900 from 1000 though i got them at 750 now ph at 5.8. my ph is always 5.7 -5.9 most of the time it has never raised to 6.2 until i added the carbo blast you think that caused it to raise or could it be all the roots coming from where i removed the gg plant remains? alot of free roots floating in res now. do you think i should change res?

Re: Scaredeecat first grow whitewidow&bb, magic bud, critical jack, moby dick#2

The floating roots are more likely to be the culprit but from what I read, carbo blast and it's "unique chemical compostion" as the ad says may play a part. It says it's organic (somehow) and organics in a res can raise the ph also.

I'd get the res cleaned up and the roots out, let it settle for a day and then hit it with the CB and see if the ph takes off.

Having said that going from 5.8 or so to 6.2 is no problem. It's still within range. In flower I like to let it wander up a bit. Personally I set it for about 6.0 on a res change if I am well into flower and let it go to about 6.4 on my morning check before I feel the need to do anything.

Ain't cooling off here! Supposed to hit 100 with heat index at 110 or better. I've been chilling water all day! Res temp 70.2. Hits about 66 overnight. I take a gallon and replace with a cooled and nuted gallon and repeat the process. I'm here all day anyway. It's due for the 3rd switcheroo here shortly.

That's probably the best way to do it - especially if running a form of DWC since (assuming you don't pour it down one of the rootballs) it mixes with the reservoir and both cools the entire thing equally (and quickly) and more importantly, dilutes the "chill" so that you don't have to worry about a cold bottle getting directly against the root ball and sitting there.

+REPs for thinking (if I can). EDIT: Nope, you're just too worthy too often, lol.

Just dropped by to see how things were progressing from this morning. Looks like you have everything under control. As usual MC is right on top of his game with the great info.

Another note about the loose roots, you don't have to wait for a res change to get rid of them, you can always fish them out with something clean until the next res change. As MC stated they can reek havoc with PH. Just don't use your hands! Never a good idea to be sticking your hands in the res.

It is called a fish tank net Mr. Secret Agent Man.

Re: Scaredeecat first grow whitewidow&bb, magic bud, critical jack, moby dick#2

Brings back good memories of hunting nightcrawlers in my grandpa's yard with his old miner's hat on.

i know what you mean, i remember going with my granddaddy on the farm takeing the tractor ride to the river and digging night crawlers to fish with, man the good ole days:hug:

i'm changing the res now, everything looks ok,but i am going to clean it well

Re: Scaredeecat first grow whitewidow&bb, magic bud, critical jack, moby dick#2

looking ok this morning, changed the res yesterday and got all the floating roots out. i am going to change the res again this morning, i wish i had not put the carbo blast in it made everything slimey, and i don't think the cj plant like it and responded by drooping:whoa: no wonder the hydro shop here had it reducded, when i opened it the other day it was hard as a rock i had to put it in the food pro to break it down, i should have known something was up then. oh well the wife can use it on her flower garden but it will not go back in my cabinet.

cj looking better she looked kind of sick last night, but she is standing up this morning

How's it going SC. Just stopped in to check ya out. Beutiful plants, sorry about the herms. Why is everyone so gungho about killing the herms. I understand what they can do to your ladies but if you seperate them and have them under control, you can still smoke their bud right? I don't know about anyone else but i'm not above smokin seeded bud. Hummm or maybe there's a chemical in that bud that will cause you to wake in pumps and panties:cheer:. Just kidding. Good luck with the rest of your grow bro.:peace:.
