I'm actually gutted about your mitey mite girl because she was the apple of your eye with all the hard work and love you showered on her but alas she was not meant to be my friend. All we can do is grow, live and learn by what went before us mr.S and I think it's the oddball out this run.
Well Mr Smeegs you always have the right words to say when one needs to hear them. Thanks. Of course it's a new day today...and I was not born a quitter. This is what I mean by a growing roller coaster. Emotions are up one day and down the next.
@NOOOBIENOT mentioned the same thing you mentioned a few posts back. Could it just be genetic? It's quite possible. I have to look at all the facts.
1) Can I see the mites? No, my 60x loupe from my understanding is not strong enough to see the microscopic broad/hemp mites. I have spent several weeks and leaves trying to see some sort of pest and I cannot. I don't want to go and buy a microscope for one plant's problems. If all four were having issues I would be all over purchasing one.
2) Are any other plants effected by the mites? All the plants grew up together inside the tent. It was half way through veg when the consensus was it had a mite problem. I immediately took her outside to isolate her from the rest and started neem treatments. No other plant has exhibited signs of mites. I actually moved her sister who was grown in the same soil, planted the same day, and has had the same love and care the oddball did. The other two plants had a different soil, so to make sure the soil was not contaminated I moved the other one out with the sick one.
She's been out there side by side for the most part but it's like night and day as far as looks go.
3) Are the new buds forming(pistils) turning brown? No, but I would think with a problem this severe in looks the bud sites would be turning brown.
4) All the new growth starts off great, and the same pattern repeats, almost always the same sides of the leaves from leaf to leaf. One finger twists one way and another twists the other. Typically the same two arms on a leaf.
So if I was to look at all the facts I would tend to lean towards a genetic issue at this point. So the dilemna I have is do I listen to my gut, who's not even had a successful grow and has no idea what a pest problem does or does not look like, and by that I mean if I could see a bug I would know that is the problem and then future grows I would know what to look for, or do I go with advice given to me from several growers who have hundreds of successful grows under thier belts and pretty much have seen everything?
I would have to listen to the pros until I had enough knowledge to make my own decision. It's a plant, and yes I may lose a few dollars for the seed and a months worth of smoke but it's not the end of the world.
This is why I have given up on her. If it is mites I will know when the buds go brown and die off. If it's genetics, well the buds are doing good now and lots coming on, so let it genetic itself to harvest.
Im sorry Mr S, im here for you buddy
Thanks man, sorry for the long winded speach up top.
believe me you did a great job with these plants , some people are born needing glasses , plants are the same not all are perfect from the get go and the problems only get worse as they get older , great grow man !!
Thanks for the boost of confidence Nooobie...and welcome to my journal. It's good to have you along
.
Hey Mr S. Hate to hear about mitey girl! Wether she gives you a harvest or not it might be worth checking the roots out when she’s done. Not saying it’s a root issue but that can manifest as many different things. It probably is the mites and they are probably just hiding enough to continue the cycle....but your sanity has value. Lol. If it’s stressing you out then just let her do her thang and see what happens.
Great advice
@Mr. Magoo, that didn't even dawn on me and I probably would have just ditched the whole fab pot roots and all. Good call bro. I will definately get pics of it.
OK any typos I apolgize, not going back through that blabber to fix'em
