Sam's Fall & Winter Grow 2018

I prefer the old strains myself, there's something missing with a lot of newer strains.

I have thought that for awhile but haven't said anything thinking that it was me. The newer stuff is plenty high in THC it's just different. I think part of it is the terpene profiles. The floral, fruity stuff seems less potent.

This sour d has that old school buzz to it. Psychedelic and a tingly puffy sensation around the eyes. A very stoney type of high. I can't wait to get her chopped and cured.

Nice buds Sam, great work. Being in DWC, does that mean no more nutes, just water for the remaining time?

The big girls are in coco and will only get straight water for a few days as coco is an inert medium. It has no nutrient value so once you flush it out the plant is on its own to pull nutrients from itself. Same for DWC. Soil holds nutrients so that is a different ballgame.

There is a lot of controversy regarding flushing. Once my buds have cured they have no chemical taste to them. If anything I get complements on the taste.

To me the newer crosses are not as in your face strong singular effect as the older strains. I think Penny captured it with the "muddled" high. When they cross different strains with completely different strains effect wise you go from one distinct effect to more of an all over the place high. Especially now where they are into crosses of crosses. The breeding programs on the old strains seemed to be slanted for stability, yield, and to enhance the main effect that was already there where as now they are going for a different effect all together.

When indoor weed started being more common place in the very early 90's the stone was pretty psychedelic and powerful. Of course that is comparing it to the ditch/brick weed we were used to so it may have been a relative thing with the strength.

Right now everything is being bred for “bag appeal” which makes it appealing on digital media. The hype is real!

It's not only digital media it's the dispensaries. I am not sure if you have every been in one that is in an afluent location but shit it's like buying jewelry. Everything is in glass cases. They take the buds out and place them on a white surface with those large table mounted magnifiers so you can get up close and personal with each bud.

It looks like you have her tied down which is good. I would remove some if the fan leaves that are pointing to the center of the plant so the branches forming underneath can get light and grow along with the main side branches. You want them to spread out. Looking at her she looks spot on growth wise to how mine started out.
I have been tying her down I have just been a little worried because everything is so close together and compact I will do some leaf clipping to reveal some of the stem the next time I check on them. Thank you for the information

Ok I see what you were wondering about. Yes the center branching and the nodes are extremely compact. All in can say is try selective leaf removal and tucking so the lowers get light. When you flip it will stretch out quite a bit. I took off a lot of branches that I didn't think would make the canopy in time. She was kind of a pain to deal with until she stretched a bit. Lots of training.
