Sam's Fall & Winter Grow 2018

I used to use that same method......soak followed by paper towels, and finally into the growing medium whatever that may be. Since I started germinating my seeds in a hempy solo cup I can honestly say I wouldn't do it any other way (that I know of now) in the future. If you think about what exactly a seed needs to germinate successfully (moisture, warmth, oxygen) it's no wonder the hempy solo cup method works so well.

The perlite provides the seed with a tremendous amount of oxygen. It wicks up the water/nutrients from the reservoir which is below the hole in the cup. And it also is a fantastic medium in which to grow roots. There is no pre-soaking whatsoever, just drop them into a small hole made in the perlite. I do recommend scarifying your seeds if they have a lot of resin on them from the plant.

If anyone has an interest in trying this please feel free to send me a PM and I can give you more details. I don't want to hijack Sam's thread.
This is 4 days after dropping the seeds into the solo cups.
I was reading if I ever grow again I will try this method as looked really cool and root system seemed to thrive

I did another major defoliation and added more tie downs while adjusting the existing ones. The pictures don't do justice to the amount that I took off. I really need to get my big tent set up. I will try to do that this weekend because when they leaf out they take up this 2.5 x 2.5.

Trim pile.

Freshly trimmed and tied down. The little Amnesia (lower right) is trying to catch up. She is doing better than I originally thought she would. Kinda missed with that one tie down on the Amnesia..... LOL I will fix that tonight. I was in a hurry as always.
What day veg is this Sam?

Small update. The girls in the big tent are recovering from another major defol the day before yesterday. They are staying relatively low and even height wise. I hope they gain some height or at least stretch quite a bit when I do flip them. The little amnesia haze is coming along a lot better than I thought it was going to. It looked more full before I butched it.

Upper left is the Sour Diesel, upper right is the Amnesia Haze, Lower left is the Blue Dream and lower right is the Raspberry Cough. The Blue Dream was drinking way more than the others. She was almost drying out. I switched to watering 2x daily and she is much happier.

Here is the baby White Widow. She was getting stretchy so I put here in the small tent a little closer to the lights. I have no idea what is sprouting next to her or where it could have come from. The coco was rehydrated from brick when I up potted the other girls.

and there she sits in her new home. Bucket is ready to go. It is loaded with nutes and air is running. I am going to monitor it for stabilty for a couple of days before I plant her in the hydroton. She will have that tent to herself her entire grow. The goal here is to have here completed before the others. She is an 8-10 week strain while the others are 12-ish weeks.
You running z7 or hydrogaurd in the dwc?

Yes. I am using Z7 in the DWC. I use frozen water bottles to control the temperature. Since it cooled off in the basement I have been able to keep the reservoir temperatures at 75 and under. The Z7 is just smart insurance.

Cool just making sure you have heard of z7 and hydrogaurd Chris scrorpio swears by mixing the two together.

Guess double insurance lol

Also nice lst training from the get go bud

Thanks for the compliment on the LST. I learned that from Newty and Ase. It was my first time trying the "quadline" method. Now that I know what to expect I suspect the next time around will be better. I think I slowed them down a little too much trying to get them into a certain shape. Next time around I will flip them when there are at the stage that you asked about and keep dilligent on the on the training daily while they are stretching.

Well I might be biased but I think you did a phenomenal job training these girls, including that really cool curve you got on the triline;) ya I noticed! :D Also can you send some that frost over here!! Holy shit Batman
:passitleft:

Newty is kinda like a plant mom.... "Don't you think that plant needs a haircut?" So it got a haircut.
Bahahahaha this is exactly it!! They all sit on the stool one by one and get lil boy haircuts:) I was just saying to them yesterday how handsome they look after their haircuts!

Thanks Newty! I will send some frost your way. ;)

The grow is going better since I am getting back to being myself. The concussion turned my mellon to mush for a while there. As you pointed out this grow is a frost filled one. All the plants kicking out the trich's. I got lucky on this grow with the strains.

Frosty indeed ! Take some cuttings from these girls they look mighty fine!

Kickin ass sam! Awesome stuff

Thanks Dutch. I am not a clone guy yet. I still have some more strains to try. I know it's not the same but I have more seeds for all of them if certain ones stand out. It's not legal here I don't want a house full of plants right now.

Update on the White Widow DWC 19 from 12/12 flip. Nutrient ratios are set for early flower. I added liquid Kool Bloom with the last res change and upped the CalMag to 1.5ml/gal to shut down the calcium deficiency that I had. PH is stable 5.9-6.0 and the res temps are still 75f and under. She laid into the stretch this last week. I hope she is about done so I don't run out of headroom in the small tent.

She ended up filling up the 2.5 X 2.5 side to side nicely.

Her tops are more level than this picture shows. I am tall and the tent is small and tucked back in the closet under the stairs so it is hard to get a good angle on it for pictures.

Her flowers look to have a healthy start.

I had some time this morning being off work to update the main tent. We are in mid week 4 from pistils showing. There isn't much else to update as everything else is the same as it has been.

Raspberry is putting on weight and getting more frost on her. I want a do over on her as I think I could have done better. She is like a mini-me Sativa growth wise.

The challenged blue dream. I ma not sure what to think of her at this point. She started out just like the Sour Diesel in veg and then just put on the brakes for some reason. She appears healthy though.

The Amnesia is probably my favorite plant of this grow. Each day she seems to be filling out more and more. She is just an overall healthy plant that always seems happy.

Sour Diesel. Pictures don't do her justice. She is really loaded down. The frost on her isn't coming through on the pictures. She is a beautiful plant.

Looking fabulous and frosty!! That WW sure filled out that tent real good:) what smell are you getting off them? My blue dream smells like flowers and candy. I think the Amnesia has lemon coming off her but mines not real frosty yet like yours!

Thanks Newty. The pictures really don't show the frost as heavy as it is. I am going to attribute that to the Bud Candy since all the plants are getting that way.

The Amnesia smells like pine and lemons. The Sour D is straight grapefruit and strong. The Blue Dream and Raspberry are not as strong but both have a complex citrus/earthy odor to them. It's hard to isolate the individual plants unless you touch them and smell your hands. When I open the tent after work when the lights have been on all day the smell is overwhelming but in a good way. I will just have to watch opening it up to feed them if we end up with company over the holidays.

Yes I know what you mean about the difficulty to catch the frost in its glory on camera. I can imagine what yours look like in real life based just on that :D I touch all my favs just to get a good whiff and then I can smell my fingers for like 2 hours :D

Be careful opening that tent with all that frost...EEEEk it will just get worse I think as Christmas approaches! mmmmmmmm

I think I will start charging my friends and family for the weed tours in my house this year!!

They have at least another month to go. The Amnesia another 6-7 weeks.

You should start charging. It's like the who's who of cannabis strains up there. We have a rain forest themed 2 1/2 story green house run by the metro parks not far from me. When you look at it driving by all you see is green from top to bottom with steamed up windows. I always think of it as being your dream house.

THAT IS MY DREAM HOUSE! and we could be neighbours:)

I am trying to build my own tropical paradise here and have about 10-15 small house plants I have cloned from friends and myself this past few years. They will be beasts in 10-15 years! :D LOL Watch for steamed windows then. Although my back grow room has constant steamed windows so I am well on my way;)
