Rifleman's Roost Open 24/7: Perpetually Perplexed

Rough day today. I spent two hours at the grocery store watching old women play tug of war with milk and bread. Thought there was going to be a riot in the beer aisle, there was only one case of PBR left. It was settled when I pointed out the Black Lab next to it. Crazy damn people I tell you. The joke is on them, just a dusting so far. :)

Nothing like some chaos to collect some lasting memories of how close we are to anarchy, and hang out with some good friends.

My stomping ground lies along the gulf coast. We do the dance often.
The cool thing about the dance... our little version of the after-dance party. Power's out... heat's way up... humidity from hell. Everyone has a fridge and freezer full of food about to go bad.
Time to cook... and cook big! Everyone gets together, we're all outside anyway because it's cooler than in the house, we put our bits and pieces together and make some of the most awesome stuff. We all have gas and it doesn't go out usually, so we can still cook. Any social or other barriers are tossed by the wayside. It really does bring us together. If it wasn't so damn hot, I'd kinda look forward to the events.

Hey Rifle! Its like nobody has anything in their cupboards when a snow comes. I always laugh at folks who load up on canned goods then don't have anything other than an electric can opener to open them with! You have to be pretty hungry to gnaw through those cans or it's the old screw driver and hammer routine! We ended up with about 15 inches. Kind of makes it tough to finish up the new digs. Home steading a place in the middle of winter in the Appalachians....people always said I was crazy....darned if I'm not starting to believe them!
About a weeks worth of work to go and we are in. The question becomes how soon we can get back up there. It's about a mile and a half trip up a mountain on a very narrow road right on the edge of about a 300 foot cliff that drops straight down to the creek. Luckily the cliffs are on my Bride's side of the truck so trust me when I tell you she keeps me pretty well informed if I get too close to the edge! Makes for some pretty funny conversations!

Just wait until the gubberment goes broke and turns off the ebt cards and the shelves are empty.

Was the hard liquor isle stripped as well? Time to step up your game to some real drinkin baby!

I've been alcohol free for almost five years so I didn't make it to the liquor store. Our church going neighbors don't allow liquor in grocery stores.

Former Scout and Soldier, I have p38s...Lots of them. Also keep fifty pounds of dry beans on hand. Your roads sound like the ones I learned to drive on. Next time she hollars, hand her your beer and snatch second gear good and hard.

Heya rifle,, cheers my friend,, hunketed down are ya,, must be out east??

I laughed when I sae the article about the big sale at Walmart,, the caos and anarchy eruption at the door to get in,, crazy kooks,, but the point is,, like you mentioned,, just imagine if there was only one can of dog food left,,,??? Oh my,, and the fight would not be cuz ones dog needs feeding,, sheesh,, can't wait,,

I still keep one on my keychain. Sure, it flips open and pokes me in the leg on occasion... but I still hang onto it.

In every tool box, each vehicle, junk drawers, etc. We don't have an electric one. Keep the larger p51 in the kitchen drawer. I got tired of the electric one dropping cans on the counter when half open. I bet you can find parts of it about 500 yards from the back porch. :)

Day 15 for the sour crack and day 20 for the dark devil. It was also water change day for them so the nutrient soup was revised. It now consists of 9ml m,g,b and 12ml B52 for a ppm of nutrients between 280 and 300. If they do well it will get bumped up again next week.

I expected AL to be wilty and thirsty by now but she isn't showing any sign of it. There is a small amount of growth up top. I can only hope there is a lot going on under ground. Her reservoir was left unchanged. I'm going to try and leave it that way until i flip the lights and change her diet. If I don't forget again in the morning I will get a photo or two of her. She now needs a full liter size bottle laying on her to keep spread open. :biglaugh:

Hey Rifleman top of the day to ya bud. Thanks for the welcoming yesterday. I've been watching your journals for awhile and you just get better and better and seems busier as well. Don't mind me I'm just going to pop a squat next to the dog on the porch with paper and pen ready to learn me a thing or three. Alright bud enjoy the day!

Glad to have you aboard. You're just in time for some cannaporn. I'm hoping to see some little girly parts within the next week. :)
