Rifleman's Roost Open 24/7: Perpetually Perplexed

It's March 1st folks and I'm sadly disappointed in my hydro students (any left ?).

First day of the month is always... CALIBRATE YO TOOLS DAY !

My BlueLab pH pen was off by a factor of .1 today. If you're using one of the cheap $20 Hanna pens that use the screw on the back to calibrate, start saving money for a BlueLab pen, it makes a difference.

With that out of the way I went ahead and topped of the buckets again.
4A +1.5qt = total of 3.5qt
SS +3.5qt = total of 9qt
BT +4qt = total 18.5qt since 2-24-19 <~~~water change this morning, stats below.
DC ---- due to her very small size she isn't drinking very much.

BT water change.
ppm out 767, pH out 6.4@69
ppm in 1180, pH in 6.0@70

Notice I'm only listing the pH/ppm readings taken today. If you're attempting to learn dwc you need to compare the "out" readings to the "in" readings from the last water change. Then you use those along with the chart I posted several pages back to determine if your plant needs more or less nutrients, and then you adjust accordingly.

Nuff said ? :hmmmm: If everyone feels secure in their ability to give dwc a try I'm going to stop the daily top off reports.(they're a pita to be honest) We are just coasting to the finish anyway. Near the end I'll have to drop the nutrient levels as they stop feeding, maybe I'll tell y'all when that happens, maybe I'll just stop here and let you figure it out. What's your choice ? Feedback ? Anyone give two defecations ?

defections

See... ya get fancy and errors sneak in. Shoulda just stayed with the original shit.
Did you know that there are a good few famous defectors? Commanici, Nureyev, Navratilova, Burisnikov (probably just slaughtered all those spellings). There are many less famous ones, including a bunch of Mig pilots.

Damn... gotta cal the tools today. More things on the list.
Happy Spring, and go do something colorful.... other than deification.

We’re still here getting that knowledge! I do the daily top off while getting the numbers from the ph , tds(ec)ppm , water temp and top off amount . Had a screw up my kind led wasn’t so kind missed a program ,instead of 12/12 I was 12/12 on the red and blue lights and 6/18 on the white light holding it out of pre-flower for 15 days . On track now 6 days in 12/12 pistols this morning! Extra two weeks in veg filled the 5’x5’ tent , tying the girls down keeping them from the light is my challenge at this time going for the super crop. Keep your knowledge coming , I feel secure doing these grows by experienced growers like you passing what you’ve learned over the years to us newer growers. I’ve gained $ and learned what not to do . I’ve been here for 4 months now and have been enjoying every moment here . Thanks Rifleman for your help on the charts from you and Grandpa Tokin !

Defection, defecation, and.... "deification" ?:rofl::rofl: I'll let you blame auto correct if you'll let me too. :eye-roll:

Thanks WH. Glad it's helping someone. :) It's about 2/3 the way through this grow and I'm getting the itchy feet of Spring. I'm tired of sitting inside tending a garden. Winter Blues makes me crabby. :(

The good news is I'm spending today sending four dozen wide mouth quart jars through the dish washer. Once they are all clean and dry I'm going to move my old harvests from the cVaults to the jars. After that the vaults will get cleaned for harvest. I've found it is easier to burp and level humidity in the larger containers then transfer to the quart jars for long term storage.

Thanks again for chiming in WH, I'll try to find something other than the weather and topping off buckets to bitch about from now on. :p

Any knowledge you want to pass along I’ll be there! I’m ready for the spring also have three White Widows to put outside and finish there 12/12 of the sun!

Saturday
4A +2qt = 5.5
SS +4qt = 13
BT +5qt = 5
DC +1qt = 1

Sunday
4A +2qt = 7.5
SS +3.5qt = 16.5
BT +5qt = 10
DC +1qt = 2

SS also got a water change due to drinking 16.5qts in 5 days.
pH out 7.0@69 ppm out 734 ---- pH in 6.2@69 ppm 1150
She now gets 39ml m,g,b and 18ml cal-mag to four gallons water.

Monday....today
4A +2qt = 9.5
SS +2qt = 2
BT +3.5qt= 13.5 <~~~~will get a water change tomorrow after top offs.
DC ------ = 2

4A, SS, and BT all got a heavy, and badly needed, defoilation.....after the photos below. :cheesygrinsmiley: I hope you enjoy. I'm not going to caption them here, they should already have them. Later folks.:passitleft:

Tuesday 3-5-19

4A +2qt = 11.5
SS +3.5qt = 5.5
DC +0qt = 2

BT +4qt = 17.5qts. <~~~ only took four days to drink 17.5 qts. Time for another water change.
ppm out 801/pH out 7.4@67........ppm in 1210/pH in 6.2@67........39ml m,g,b 18ml cal-mag in 4 gal.

I'll say it one more time....at least. If it weren't for my note taking I'd never be able to remember which plant has used how much water, when the last water change was, nor what was the last mixture of nutrients. Especially when I'm growing different strains, each with different needs. Write it all down until you figure out exactly what you need to keep track of, then whittle it down to an easy method that works for you.

Later folks, the sun is out even though it is cold and I've got to get outside. :snowboating:

3-7-19

NCH day 95 <~~~ chopping on day 100, seeds ready or not. :nerd-with-glasses:

4A, day 71, water change day. ppm out 677/pH out 6.9@70. Drank 16qts in 8 days. ppm in 934/pH in 6.3@70

SS day 67, ppm 849/pH6.8@69, drank 12 qts in 4 days, water change tomorrow most likely.

BT day 66, ppm 1040/pH 7.2@70, drank 9.5qts in 2 days. Possible water change Sat or Sun.

DC day 62, ppm 481/pH 7.1@69, drank 3 qtr in 8 days.

@Rifleman

Question. How come you use Advanced Nutrients 3-Part (Grow Micro Bloom) as opposed to their Sensi Grow/Bloom or their Connoisseur Grow/Bloom? Just curious b/c AN claims that 2-part nutrient bases are actually better at delivery nutrients than 3-part's?

Purely out of habit @Gimik. I started with a three part different brand long ago. Switched to the AN three part when I found out it was supposed to be pH Perfect. I've gotten used to it, know what to expect, and have volumes of notes using it. One thing I haven't mentioned during this grow is that I sometimes drop the "grow" altogether and use only the other two parts. Especially when growing a DDA or a SSDC as neither of those need the added N. If you're not careful with them they claw horribly. :passitleft:

3-8-19

4A + 1qt = 1qt in 1 day
SS + 3qt = 15qt in 5 days
BT + 4qt = 13.5qt in 3 days
DC +0qt = 3qt in 9 days

SS, BT, and DC will all get a water change tomorrow. SS & BT due to the volume of water used, and DC because it will have been 10 days since the last one and I'm doing the other two anyway.

Cal-mag will be raised on the big girls. I've been lazy and ignored the signs. Starting to see some very ugly leaves. :eye-roll:

Peace y'all. :snowboating:
