Rider's first foray into LED strip lighting: Samsung H Series GEN3

But does HLG's QB120 Quantum Board have a front and a back and "two fan" for very hot holiday in California? :cheesygrinsmiley:

I don't much see the point lol a small clip on fan is more than strong enough to blow across them... They don't run hot that's for sure... you can keep your hand on em you can hold the driver... touch the LED's lol idk I like em because they don't require a heatsink but I'd imagine you could add one to further reduce heat for cheap lmao.

If it's hot do what I did get a window unit . haha you can use the runoff water to water your plants to save that scarce cali water.

The video I posted was a joke. Alllllllll of the Chinese lights (sorry, Stillalive420, but that includes the King Brite) that pull 200W at the wall but claim 1000W output are a joke. Front, back, fans... joke. The QB120s are no joke though. That's some quality kit that works well for a small space.

If you read back through this thread you'll see that I've spent a ffffff...truckload of USDs to test these flagship Samsung LED strips to see how they run when under-driven and when over-driven and what kind of heat load they create, and how they will stack up against my 16 COB CXB3590 build. It's like... idk, soapbox derby cars and blown-fuel dragsters.

I've got 1200W (at the COBs!) in a 4x4 space. I have a 4x8 tent I have to fill with lights. I'm not going to do it with King Brite or Mars Hydro or any of the other Chinese offerings, even though I suspect Christina has a sweet little China-girl bottom.

I love the smell of nitromethane in the morning. :)

I grabbed 2 of the 120s for now. Hopefully can add two more to supplement my Chinese light. Who I will furthermore refer to only as.... Christina

All I'm saying is that the king PLUS, whatever the wattage claim... For just a few plants, it's worth 128$ and is not going to raise your electric bill too much either.

I picked up 10 and my driver should be in on Thursday. I'll get my frame together this weekend and then let the Sun shine in qb120's rock

Ten QB120s? Hell yeah! I'm looking forward to seeing your build. How are you going to lay it out? What did you go with to drive them?

Going with 3x3 so only using 9 for now and running them with a HLG 480H C2100A driver. Big sob weighs over 5 pounds. Using it in 1 side of my new 4x8 tent. Should have it up and running this weekend .

Nice! That's 450+ watts of 561C goodness. It's funny that last year about this time the Cree CXB3590 was the king of the diy Par Wars. It's Samsung's turn now, and the best thing about it is the wide variety of ways the 561C is arrayed on PCBs. So many options in layout and led density.

Can you order your own specific array from Samsung on a PCB with dimensions of your own choice? That would be cool but I spose you'd need to NASA to get them to do it.

You could always find a supplier on Alibaba to create boards to your specs, you just have to commit to 10,000 pieces. LOL.

Looks good Rider! I'd love to see those in my tents .

Nice job, what about reds, blues, etc..

King Plus? Naahhh, I'll have whatever Christina is dishing up. :)

For the FB24B build I'm going to supplement with some deep red chips on a separate driver. These HB22Ds plus 16 more are going in my tattoo shop to replace some antique 8' T-12 fixtures.
