Rex's Perpetual Hydroponics, LED, 4x4 Tent Using TBC 10 Gal System: All Are Welcome, Come Learn & Help

I may do coco; I have a bag I bought a couple years ago. I will need too re-hydrated it, because the last time I check it, it was all dried out.

So, I may just give coco a try if I don't do LOS.
I wanna see that! Do it!

I just started two auto's and two fem's.
I will be using compost/manure in two and a California Super soil for the other two.
That's a nice side-by-side grow plan. Are you going to use any amendments, or nutes?

@Rexer I have been playing with dirt during the hotter months over the last couple years, but I am not ready to give up DWC yet. Let's say this is a first steps in learning about LOS.

They will be water only for about three months, so the auto's will be fine.

I picked up a box of Neem Seed Meal slow release nutrients/insecticide, for the fem's, should they need it.
Sounds like wonderful plan for a low stress grow. I know what you mean about not giving up on the DWC, it's fun (and somewhat satisfying) playing in the dirt- but the growth rate for DWC/hydro is unbeatable.

I thought I'd ask, I've seen a local/Canadian company that sells LOS, and ammendments for soil. I picked up a bag of: grow, bloom and compost tea amendments. All organic and made to work in tandem with LOS (next grow/summer I'll try an LOS). You'd love the compost tea, here's the info for it (posting for everyone):

Ingredients:
bokashi plus, malted barley flour, kelp, alfalfa, azadirachta indica, insect frass, cane sugar, wollastonite, basalt, dolomitic lime, glacial rock dust

Glomus intraradices mychorizae , bacillus subtilis, Trichoderma harzianum, Bacillus pumilus, Bacillus licheniformis, Bacilius megaterium
Bacillus subtilis exhibits both a direct and indirect biocontrol mechanism to suppress disease caused by pathogens. ... Bacillus subtilis can also solubilize soil P, enhance nitrogen fixation, and produce siderophores that promote its growth and suppresses the growth of pathogens.
Bacillus pumilus inoculation may enhance plant micronutrient uptake by increasing micronutrient availability in the soil–plant system through soil acidification . The responsible mechanism is PGPB-induced production of organic acids into the soil
Bacillus licheniformis is a ubiquitous, saprophytic, common soil bacteria that contributes to nutrient cycling and displays antifungal activity.
Bacilius megaterium is a good source of industrial proteins because it is both a desirable cloning host and produces a large variation of enzymes.
Trichoderma harzianum is an effective biocontrol agent against several fungal soilborne plant pathogens.

So it's been a bit since I posted in here!

A small recap of what's been happening at the RexStead.

Right now, I'm growing in 4 different mediums, a new personal record...two of which are new to me for growing (soil and coco).

So while this journal is about Hydroponics, I will have some soil included from my summer grow(s).

I've been busy to say the least...just keeping on top of the plants, and life have prevented me from doing much Journaling on here. Hopefully I'll get a nice RDWC cabinet grow documented this winter.

So, the soil plants...I've got two Photoperiods in soil that were started last winter/spring.
Here is that plant now (in a 50 gallon fabric pot):

(That's 4 feet long, and 3 feet wide)

And here's a small experiment I did that I will be repeating going forward.
When transplanting, I buried the plant down to the first node, and scraped some of the outter "bark" off to increase the roots- the results?

That's a nice bush! Did you train it to be low and wide or did it just grow that way? Nothing negative but I think I was expecting something much bigger given the age and pot size.

So pretty! And of course DWC means eventual root porn!

My second plant ever was an AK-47 auto, and it was everyone's favorite happy weed. :)

I started her off in a solo cup. Once i transplanted her into a 3 gallon pot, i trained her to follow the edge of the pot. Ive done a lot of work with her to keep her as low as i could, including the use of a Scrog net.
Nothing negative but I think I was expecting something much bigger given the age and pot size.
No offense taken in the least! My goal was a lofty one pound, she'll hit that and more, so im quite happy with her. And honestly, the picture doesn't do her justice. She has around 25-30 colas, each one is almost a small plant in its own right (3 feet each or so).
So pretty! And of course DWC means eventual root porn!
d'oh! I knew I forgot something last night, the root shot! Her roots are starting to get nice sized, I expect her to explode come stretch.

Awesome to hear! I'm more of an Indca guy, so I was on the fence.
Most of her colas are pop can sized, but solid as can be.

Oh and how could I forget????
This guy grew some sacs for me, that I chopped and jarred for some seed and cross making. Fingers crossed 🤞

20220805_113958.jpg

He looks bare, as I controlled how many sacs he had (I didn't want pollen everywhere). he's got some pure Afghani auto genetics. His pollen was put on the BBxNL auto and Ak-47 as part of my long term breeding project.

Rexstead, love it. :thumb:
Great shot of that double Stump. :welldone:
Blows my Stump shots away.;)
Hey what about your watering pictorial or video would be better.
That coco system is a dream.
Everything looks fantastic Mucker.:ciao:
Take care.

Whoa! What a return! That AK - awesome. That a big auto!!! Gorgeous work. Bury up through the first node, eh? Very interesting Rex. Please keep posting!
Thanks Jon. I figured an update was due lol.
Thank you, the auto in the tent is surprising me...she's bulking like crazy :hmmmm::drool:
And is very resinous. Reminds me of my Gorilla Glue Auto.
She's also under my non sponsor light @ 630 Watts. I started her Vegging under my Vipar light (it vegs really nicely), then swapped over to my big 650R.

hell no! Mine is a singular- yours is Stump after Stump. Doing it once is easy, multiple ones showing the same consistency across all of them, is the touch of a pro.
Hey what about your watering pictorial or video would be better.
That coco system is a dream.
Ahh you like my lazy system eh?
Its super easy:

-Its a WiFi power bar, where one outlet is a @VIVOSUN pump (great pumps! I've used them since day one)...
The pump is plumbed to a sprayer manifold on the coco plant.

The added touch was a Wyze Cam.

To do a watering:
1)open the App and turn on the Pump's outlet.

2)Open the Wyze App and Turn on the Wyze Cam thats pointed at the planter outside.
3)Zoom in on the Coco pot's drain.

Wait until you see run off.

4)Flip back over to the App controlling the outlet, and turn it off.

The pump sits in a large (60L) tote with an airstone, and is prefilled and PH'd with the Nutes. I can feed her for days without worrying about her Nutes.

Everything looks fantastic Mucker.:ciao:
Take care.

Thank you brother, you too :high-five:

SagaView or as close as I can get

That white thing on bottom right is a 5 gallon bucket.

Found this guy guarding a bud
20220913_185735.jpg

And the Gorilla Glue Auto. The roots are stained, and smell of fresh earth. It's a combination of the Floranova and Kelp...both have a tendency to stain.
She was given a fresh batch of nutes yesterday, at 800PPM.
Down to 526 tonight.
She was hungry!!

I really need to do some training on her. Believe it or not, I've barely touched her, she started to lean to the right (as she's in the shadow of the Ak-47), and it was as good as LST.

And the outdoor Auto (in coco), who is getting close to the finish. I'm rather disappointed in her bulking so far, but considering the effort I've put into her...I wont complain.

Have a good night everyone!

I would think this also applies to yellowing lower leaves in flower, yes?
Yeah she's loosing the odd one, most are low and doesn't appear to be from a deficiency :hmmmm:.
She could probably benefit from a proper feeding. The last week or two has been the hose every 3 or 4 days. Currently, she sucks the 50 gallon pot dry in 3 to 4 days. I can't wait to see her roots...I went to do an amendment using StepWell and couldn't scratch it in deep, the top of the pot was roots:laugh:

Does anyone else think the top on that outdoor auto looks oddly like a reveg. :hmmmm:
I've had it before on an Auto. The long spears seems to be consistent with past growing of the strain. She just didn't bulk too nicely. I'll probably get maybe 100g (dried and cured).

Here's some pics of a previous grow with this strain.

What a return! Beautiful plants everywhere, Great work Rex!
Thanks N420!

It's been quite the busy summer, and the work hasn't quite stopped yet. But an update or two was long overdue.
Wow, that SagaView plant is incredible. Just huge and green and healthy as can be. You got a barn to hang it in? Lmao!
Yup I do actually ;). My garage "back in the day" was a barn. Previous owners converted it. And it's where they (the soil plants) will finish off, as it will most likely be too cold outside come harvest.
I'm going to wire in two new outlets and put a light over each plant for their final days....that will keep the frost off them, and save me from hauling their heavy weights in/out. I've got everything but the outlets (which are cheap). I just got to find the time lol.

I feel like a Stark, with the words that keep rambling in my mind "Winter is coming ".

Hey everyone! Hope your doing good, thought I would drop a small update.

So...budrot has struck. I had to harvest my outdoor coco a bit early- lost a couple ounces.
20220918_161217.jpg

She wasn't a heavy yielder, but it's good to see some nugs in the Harvest Fridge again.

Then...when checking the Ak-47 Auto in the tent....more budrot was found ...
