Rex's Perpetual Hydroponics, LED, 4x4 Tent Using TBC 10 Gal System: All Are Welcome, Come Learn & Help

Any chance sometime of getting a dedicated post just once for the soil girl? How's she doing?
Sure can do Jon!

Not a whole lot going on just yet. They're both in 3 gallon containers at the moment, and on the cabinet floor (to try and help get some stretch into them). I'll probably start doing some light training soon.

Selas did a self topping and Cilla was just transplanted (pics are in my last update).

Currently both are in 3 gallon pots, FFHF soil, and water only. They will eventually get uppotted one more time into either 5 gallon or 7 gallon pots, as they will be kept for clones. The clones will then be grown in hydro.

Thank you brother,
Good call on that Kelp product, the plants seem to like it. It's making me kinda reform my thoughts on trying some of their other stuff.
Me too!!
I wanna try out their ”Premade” Bloom salt!
These are the ingredients (in fin):

RAW Bloom sisältää: NPK 3-12-12. Typpi (N) 3% Fosfori (P2O5) 12%, Kalium (K2O) 12%, Kalsium (Ca) 0.6%, Magnesium 0.4%, Rikki (S) 2%, Boron (B) 0.02%, Kupari (Cu) 0.001% Rauta (Fe) 0,2%, Mangaani (Mn) 0.05%, Sinkki (Zn) 0.002%. Lisäksi myös Humushappoja (Leonarditestä) 2%, Merilevää (Ascophyllym Nodosum) 5%, Silikaattia (SiO2) 10% sekä Yucca-uutetta 0.01%.

There would be all the needed elements and many beneficials. For example Humic. I wanna test it out so bad again because I used Fulv & Humic during the NL growth and I believe Humic has a many advantages in oil production.

Humic concentrates isn’t the option for DWC growing tho. But this would be in powder form.

Oh they look great. Awesome. How come you're still on water only in Fox Farms soil when they're that big? Don't you think you might want to start feeding them soon? Or are you trying it with just water on purpose?

Interesting! I didn't look at the bloom, but the Enzymes looks like a great snag. Powdered Enzymes, hell yeah.
Its too bad their cal mag isn't that ideal, I'm not too keen on its NPK

Well to be honest, I thought they'd be ok on water only for a bit. I know the FFHF can't provide much for long, but I thought I had a bit of time. And ive not seen any deficiencies yet...I did order some Bokashi Pro-Gro which can be used as a top dressing. I'll probably get some frass when I can squeeze it into my budget. And then there's also the cheap powdered nutes I have for soil.

Question(s) for you @InTheShed, just to be sure I understand how you do your equivalent measurements if you dont mind.
If I were to start at 0.5g in a 700ML bottle, that would come out to roughly 2g/gallon? Which would make a great starting point if I understand things correctly...

2g/gallon of MC is probably a little low. I'd say 2.5g would be a good starting point at their size.

You can use roughly 4L in a gallon for calculations.

Perfect :thanks:

I know the bottle size is a bit odd, but it's an old Gatorade bottle :laughtwo:. The twist top makes for a perfect pour without spilling.

Next time the need water I'll sneak some nutes into it. Appreciate it Shed, and thank you Jon for prompting me to start some nutes, for some reason I get nervous with soil

Got anything in the Geoflora realm?

If I may, I'd suggest you may get better and faster results with the bokashi and/or frass if, when you top dress them, actually amend as best you can if you have loose soil to mix it into above the roots. I mix mine in as deep as my top soil will allow whenever I top dress, even fresh worm casings.

Ye exactly! No more messy concentrates :cheesygrinsmiley:

I find their Cal/Mag supplement to be actually a good one, execpt the Ca&Mg ratio isn’t even 4:1..
9%N and 15% Ca - That would provide shit loads of Calcium without bumping up your Nitrogen ppm that much.
9% N & 15% Ca is same as 4.5%N & 7.5% Ca. And usually CalMag products have pretty close to equal Nitrogen and CaO %.

GHE’s CaliMagic is the exception tho. Only 1% N and about 5% CaO. But nowdays most of the CalMag products has more and more Nitrogen.

I wish. It's not available in Canada unfortunately, otherwise I'd be using it.

I've got a 1.5kg bag of Bokashi Pro-Gro on its way, which can be used as a top dressing.

Suggest away my friend!

I'll layer the Bokashi (and hopefully frass if i have any) when I do the 2nd transplant into a 5 or 7 gallon fabric container. I'll try to remember to pick up some worm casings as well, there's local options there (just a bit of a drive). I'll remove some of the loose top soil out, ammend, and put it back in, that outta work?

Hopefully I'll be by the local hydro shop in the next month and I'll take a good look what they've got for soil ammendments, but I do already have a big/huge bag of MC that I've barely touched :laughtwo: though.

Oh and they did receive some beneficial microbes as well in the soil (Root Builder, Microbial Mass and Hygrozyme).

And that right there is why I don't see myself using their cal mag. It's just easier for me to use the calimagic. Too bad TPS isn't international (they make a 0-0-0 cal mag).

And if I do decide to go the route of using Jack's, then it becomes a rather moot thing for me. Wish you had that option!

RAW definitely has some interesting products. I think the kelp i will be using moving forward, and maybe their enzymes. I'll let you be the ginnie pig for the rest ;)

Lol. I know you can't get Geo, otherwise my first ever bags of Geo wouldn't have come to me gifted from YOU! I just meant any decent solid organic nute (I assume there are others). And I'm so damn excited to see how this goes for you! When I amend, I don't go that far - that's a pro step. I'm a novice. I just mix it in to as deep as til the roots stop me with my fingers. Lol.

If you need/want another option, and I don't know if you can get this either, I use Humboldt's Secret Cal Mag plus Iron. It's a great calmag product and so light it can be used almost whenever you want. It's 2-0-0. Here's the analysis:

Day 49

Cabinet temp: 28C avg
Cabinet RH%: 35~40%
Previous PPM: 707
Current PPM:
Adjusted PPM to:
PH: 5.7
Res temps: 19.2C
Water level: average of 6-7L/day down

Hey folks! I hope you all had a great week!

So...when you look at the leaves in the pictures, there's a few things you'll notice. Some deficiencies resulted from letting the ppm drop way too low, without a proper reservoir change, or a balanced hot top up.

They got a fresh batch of nutes last night and everything should be back on track.

The rest is wind damage. Which is on par with my usual grows :cheesygrinsmiley:

Humidity is under control with a larger dehumidifier in the cabinet.

The girls are building their buds and the final bit of stretch is done/slowed right down. They'll continue to get a bit taller, but the Nextlight 420h is on at 100%, and they have yet to show any negative effects. I'll probably turn it down soon though, as their getting too close for comfort.

And on to the photos!

And that's all for now! Thanks and I hope everyone has a great weekend!

(I'll come back and edit the PPM numbers in, soon as I can go check them)

I was going to comment on how well organized the grow room is .
Hope you have a great weekend also .
Ahh thanks West- your too kind
it's a packed mess in there lol.
Have a good weekend brother

You must hide the mess very good then
I’ll be right here catching everyone’s threads back up .

Thanks PlanetJ! The Wappa roots made me take a :thedoubletake: when looking today. They seem to have exploded in growth!
West Hippie made me a believer in the importance of keeping happy roots!

Day 44

Cabinet temp: 25C avg
Cabinet RH%: ~60-70%
Previous PPM: 528
Current PPM: 399
Adjusted PPM to: 505
PH: 5.7
Res temps: 19.2C
Water level: average of 6-7L/day down

Well i hope everyone is having a great weekend so far! Though Monday approaches all too soon.

Lots going on today! A hot top up, some big (for me) defoliation, and Cilla got transplanted. That's about all the excitement this guy can handle for one day :laughtwo:

So first off, the hot top up! These girls are chewing and munching through the nutes like nothing! :cheer: So since it's only been a few days since a reservoir reset, I went with a "light" hot top up. Gave them a bit more to chew on for now ;) . PPM was at 399, and I just brought it back up to 528. I'll probably sneak one more hot top up in, then dump and reset.

And that right there is why having a bigger reservoir is handy, I miss it lol.

And...Cilla today got her first transplant today! The root ball was nowhere near what i see on others, but hey...shes alive, and looking decent so ill take it!

So here she is right before the transplant.

And pop, out she goes into her new home. I added a few drops of root guard, Microbial Mass and Hygrozyme, since I've got it and why not?

And all done!

And here's a picture of Selas, who was kind enough to do me a favor and top herself! (Hopefully not himself ).

And onto the main show!

And that's all for now, thanks for reading and i hope everyone has a great week!
Nice work @Rexer
