Rex's Hydro Grow: Somango Auto & Super Skunk Auto: Drop In & Learn Or Help With Some Easy Hydroponics

Been a rough patch pain wise and cabinet got ph'd and that's about all I could muster last night. Got a big snowfall and the mrs got stuck, it hurt like hell getting the car out yesterday.

Back to the garden! They initially were happy as could be and were praying and feeding, I had a 20ppm drop, however the camera is now showing what looks like a nitrogen toxicity. I'm hoping it's just from the 2nd cold shock. Yup, that's right, another cold shock & this ones on me. I accidentally turned the oil heater down when ph'ing and the res got too cold. But it's back on track...once again.

So onto some big news for the future garden, I figured out what system I'll be growing with and punched the ticket on a " 4 Planter Black Stake Growers Kit" (10 gallon) from The Bucket Company. It'll sit in the box when it arrives till the new garden at the new home is setup. Now it's light and tents to look into

I'll try to complete another update, hopefully with the cold temps under better control and the girls back on track. So far this grow has had a string of bad luck and negligence, it'll be interesting to see what comes of it.

Oh and I finally found my scale, if I were to go back onto MC, what gram per gallon/L would be recommended?

They have a handy calculator on their website mate.
Doh!!!!!!(head smack!) Can't believe I forgot to use that handy calculator, I've just been going from reading the plants and PPM. Here's from the calculator, thanks @VetSmoke85 :Namaste:

Snow sux, especially when tryin to move a ton of steel.

I'd say you're safe at 2.5 or 3g/gal.

Day 38
Flower Day 6
Cabinet temp: 21-29C avg
Cabinet RH%: 10-60%
Root zone temp Avg: 18.78C
Previous PPM: :hmmmm:
Current PPM: 367
Adjusted PPM to:
367 (not adjusted)
PH: 6.2 adjusted to 5.7
Res temp: 18.6C
Water level: down slightly

So the girls are once again recovering. And I finally figured out why the SuperSkunkhas been so fussy. Her tub sits right over the intake fan, which gets a bit chilly. Looking into some slight changes and will see what happens. For now the pump will remain running, going RDWC style I suppose. The res is at a nice temp, this will keep the SuperSkunks root zone up....we'll see.
The Somango (who is host to the root zone sensor) is looking better.

The girls had the first dark period today. I gave them 5 hrs of darkness.

Sorry for the haze in the photos, better camera coming in a week or so.

Good to see your garden, Rexer. It appears to be getting a going away/ house warming present ready for you. Congratulations on the house :high-five:
:welldone::thumb::green_heart:
Thank you, I certainly am grateful.

I can't wait to be growing in a normal sized space, and maybe even/most likely venture into photos :yummy:

The Mrs, little one and myself are beyond happy of the upcoming move. So much to be grateful for.

Though I got told no more spending today

Day 39
Flower Day 7
Cabinet temp: 21-29C avg
Cabinet RH%: 10-30%
Root zone temp Avg: 18.75C
Previous PPM: 367
Current PPM: 385
Adjusted PPM to:
will go back to check
PH: 6.3 adjusted to PH 5.9
Res temp: 18.4C
Water level: down slightly? Pump was running, hard to be sure but looked lower.

So another PPM rise. I'm sure it's the SuperSkunk and her cold feet. I put a thin layer of packing Styrofoam between her tub and the intake fan. That fan gets really cold, like I knocked the ice off the intake tube beside the cabinet kinda cold:nervous-guy:

I adjusted the intake to pull some lung room air along with the air from outside to keep it under better control. How? Quite simple, I made an intentional leak at the fitting going into the cabinet.

Day 39
Flower Day 7
Cabinet temp: 21-29C avg
Cabinet RH%: 10-67%
Root zone temp Avg: 18.65C
Previous PPM: 385
Current PPM: 375
Adjusted PPM to:
379
PH: 6.01
Res temp: 21.2C
Water level: down 4L

So I just checked on the girls, as it's the 2nd lights off time for them. They had a nice good feeding. PPM was down 10, and a big water drop. I added 4L with 2.5g (Thank you @Mr. Sauga ) and then did a bit more training to open them up a bit more, and in the direction I want. I know that once they start to really take off it'll be harder to keep on top. This is where I've noticed that if you do some extra training, your "veg" time increases. Yes i know shes past the veg time technically. Even though she's throwing pistils she can be coaxed to grow much bigger with LST. I also did one pinch on a stem growing in a direction I don't want, my version of shock therapy.

Looks like they are starting to perk up again. Cold feet can be a real problem. Often gets diagnosed as a watering issue.
Yeah I kept thinking at first a bit of nitrogen toxicity, or drowning. Had me scratching my head as I knew it should be neither. But it's my first true winter grow, the 1st attempt ended badly from a cheap LED. Right now it's a struggle to keep the RH up high. A small space for a 400W HPS needs lots of airflow, and the winter air is drier then I ever noticed it being before i started growing  . One of the many things I've grown more "attuned" to.
