Return Of The Skunk

I'll leave that to the PHD's -- and no not the Phil's , Hank's , and Dave's -- the scientists....

nice thought but they couldn't care less. all the emphasis in breeding now is elsewhere. the current push is for easy and faster growing commercial weed. skunk was on the way out long before legal. there's less than no chance now that legal is here.

there are some growers out in bc that still grow it, but the genetics are 30+ yrs now, i doubt it's really the same, and the prices for it will make your hair curl. it's not in the legal mainstream.

Aromas and effects have greatly changed since I was a youngster , I would say for the most part better. But I would like to smell that old smell , good old skunk, Thai, Columbian Gold / Red , Acapulco Gold / Red and reliable Mexican. You would think if the genetics can be bred out then why not bred back in? With the laws the way they are what is there to be afraid of now?

Happy Growing

Harvest this weekend -- Yay
Cause the Internet. This is what I'm trying to do as we speak. Bringing some cultivars to f2, and trying to select what's a bit different, even if the buds aren't pretty. I think most the time, people are selecting for photo ops, and the terps suffer. In my search, some of the scraggly looking buds, have been the most potent.

I just love all these kids who tell me, a person who was actually there, that the bud today is way, way more potent than in the “old days”. I must agree to disagree, after all, I was there, they wasn’t. I’ve bought all the so called Skunk seeds around, first of all, I’ve nver seen such pussy fart seeds, you’re lucky if half the seeds even pop, and if they do, damping off is prevalent with today’s marijuana seeds. Remember when we’d buy an ounce of Gold Columbian for $60, there’d be 14 grams of seeds in 28 grams of buds, and if you threw the 200 seeds in the ground, 198 would germinate. Ain’t like that now, it’s the names, the ten billion names they have, ridiculous, and the dope is awesome looking, smells amazing, but chrome never got me home. When have you lately smoked any bud, where’d you say, “Wowy, now that is good pot.”? I’d have to say, mid 1990’s when Skunk bud would smell like dead skunk arseholes. Just sayin’…
Have you ever tried Blue Skies Vienna?

Don't follow the hate train dude. Plenty of people have found it through his mixed and single packs. The powers at be don't want his genetics getting out for some odd reason but yeah there you go! I'm hunting through his packs but I have something called "blind faith." Check out the Old School Cannabis Project on YT to stay updated.

Oh I've seen some of those, do be interesting, going over how Greenhouse & co ruined the Jamaican crops..
And he also doesn't seem to be a fan of the cookies strain ruining everything, but there he touches on something I very much been suspecting for a couple of years now, entourage effect and how high THC is not the key to heavy weed. It gives a fast short lived buzz and not the 4 hour struggle it could sometimes be.
And I would firmly agree it's the full spectrum and ratios of all the compounds, there's hundreds of them in there. And a lot of acrid or putrid or bitter notes are selected out, understandable if you got a strain that tastes of candy and one of puke.. likely puke is not gonna sell like cupcakes...
but most psychoactive plants I know are bitter as fuck.
As well I've been trying these more modern strains and well yeah it's a sober high for me, it's fresh & fast.

I dunno, kinda hard to believe the entire game is against one dude. That's the way he made it sound any how. And his beans were way overpriced. Ain't they like 25 a bean?

At the beginning yeah his beans were priced that way because of all the haters. He also released his least best work in the beginning just because he knew people would rip it off as there own without giving credit. He's running hella deals rn and he's about to quit selling seeds for good so I'd grab a scoop while you can.

Hi Guys. I've just stumbled across this thread, last season I was given two supposedly Super Skunk, they were very smelly, thick stemed and leaves, I have never seen a plant with such wide blades on the leaves, the center blade was 65mm (2.5 inches across. One of the plants had some Nannas so I pollinated the other female and was lucky to get 4 seeds from her.
I have never grown super skunk, or even seen it for that matter, but I expect many of you guys and gals have I will post a picture of the supposedly Supet skunk and I would interested to read your comments.

Kiaora bro, I grew up smoking in the 70s also, pot didn't have any strains or names back then that i was aware of, it was just known as bush pot and I am guessing now that it was sativa dominant. There was one with a name we all know well,"Buddha", yes wrapped around a skewer with cotton, holy shit did that get you smashed. Those were the good old days.
Strains had no names when I was younger, but its pretty cool that you remember Northern Lights and White Widow after skunk, I was away for a lot of this. To be honest, I'm not sure what strains the old school Sinsemilla was way back when..

Coming from way back in the late 70's and 80's gives me a very different perspective than most. Some of the strains like Northern Lights might be considered mid's to today's smokers, but to me they are amazing. I'd love to try White Widow, another old school classic that I have a feeling I would like. (I tried to grow it but it was high in odor even in veg)..

Thanks for the review of bigbud/skunk etc... I've had my eyes on Big bud crosses, they seem to use big bud often.

White Widow by me, taken down due to skunky odor early veg !

I grew some every nice looking white Widow a few years back and I found it to be over rated and would recommend White rhino over Widow by a country mile.
Cheers
