Relaxed's Outdoor Medical Grow - 2015

Some real stunners there Les, wow.

looks awesome bro:thumb::goodjob:ss61

Thanks guys! I am extremely grateful for my Spring flowers, and I am anxious to see if I can grow decent sized plants for fall. Hopefully we get the best growth possible in the next 1-2 months, as I am just starting with seedlings now. If I can get atleast 4 plants that each yield 2 dry ounces each, I will be happy. We'll see what happens though. Sprouts looking good as of now, will get a full update in the next couple days. :Namaste:

Wow those colors are amazing!! And the Swiss is curing out nicely. will you be doing another Swiss grow?

I don't think so, I think I'm gonna be all Swiss Cheesed out and ready to grow some new strains ;) :thanks:

Looks like the first plant of JHxChemdawgxNYCD is getting ready to be harvested either today or tomorrow. It will be sad to clip off those beautiful leaves. The trichomes look great and are mostly cloudy with 1-3% showing degraded amber tips. So I'm sure it's at peak psychoactivity right now. Also, more symmetrical red hairs and pistils withering. The other (#2) plant won't be ready for 1-2 more weeks, as it has been less progressive with its flowering.

BB x SM plants are also ripening quite nicely and I'm surprised with how much medicine are on each little plant, considering how small they are. Everything liked the recent rains, especially the new seedlings which are starting to take off. :Namaste:

Pics later, Be Well. :volcano-smiley:

BBxSM yum.. all lookin killer Les!
Took down a couple of our smaller force flowers this morning, pillars are hitting us harder than last year.
Seems I caught the majority of them at the beginning stages of life.. What a mess. Definitely looking into a decoy plant this year..
Most attracted to our Sour D x OGK & the Chernobyl.. pillars loving our organic smells of sweet pungent diesel goodness..
Keep it vigilant brotha, take care. CA215

Hey Brotha the plants look Great and Gratz on the Sweet harvest :thumb:
Mahalo Cronic! Thank you so much, and I hope all is well in your world, brother! :circle-of-love: :Namaste:

Howdy CA, so far so good. Sorry to hear you got hit by the 'pillars, they always seem to show up unexpectedly. Luckily for me, I've been getting away unscathed. I've found a worm lately though, it was on the leaf, but not in the buds. I've found that spraying Azamax for a few treatments in early flower really has helped a lot. Couldn't be more thankful and I know what you are going through, it especially sucks when the plants are small, just more medicine they get through. Best of Luck bro! :Namaste: PS Yes they seem to enjoy the strains that are the dankest, go figure.

The colors are beautiful. Great plant.
Aloha cajuncelt, thanks a bunch my friend! :hugs:

Man, that definitely sucks. It's the damn locusts & grasshoppers here (I found out the hard way last year).
Good luck.

Cajun, Les, thank you both!
Well.. I try my best to not spray at all, if I do it's a compost tea, but after another morning inspection, azamax and BT have moved to the top of my list.. no way are the pillars getting into my end of the year harvest.. check out some rosin I was making with fresh buds.. some of these little bastards are too small for my eyes! :helpsmilie: maybe next time they'll go hang around the roses or morning glorys.. pillar's life ended in a slew of organic solventless extract... touché..

oouuch, and yes, I still picked rosin around the pillar and toked it.. still organic right?

Don't they take some pretty pictures...... Got to be one of the most photogenic plants around. Or maybe it's just we love the plant more than any others? Looks great Keepem Green

Maybe if you don't like caterpillars you could try attracting solitary wasps with those bee/wasp houses and sugary fruit? If you get the right species the wasps will inject eggs into a host caterpillar and the larvae will eat their way out.

Doubt it'll help in the short term but hopefully it will please you to know that sometimes these pests have a pretty gruesome fate ahead of them.

How do the caterpillars get on your plants? I'm guessing they use the wind and their silk to get there so perhaps a windbreak would help stop them getting there. If currents of air are directed away from the plants then that's where the silk should get blown and where the caterpillars should end up.

Dude I guess I really spaced seeing yawl dealing with them nasties. Up to a week before harvest a blast with Captains Jacks Dead Bug Brew,,, and well ya know. I swear by it for that purpose. It claims to do more but I've never tried it on other problems,,, probly should lord know a farmer finds problems. Worms are a thing of the past here. And we get tons here, I like to hit mine around two+ weeks prior to harvest myself. And I don't find them dropping out the harvest nets anymore. First couple years here I use to take a peek at the drying plants and see worm after work climbing down it's drop rope looking for wet and greener food sources.
Hey Lester, years back I tried a lot of things to kick the colors into the weed. I think the stupidest attempt was gassing them with a flash freeze with some butane. Damn that made some pretty flowers. But for show we'd throw alittle ice on top her pot and let it drain alittle all night for acouple nights. If you got a good strain with strong purple characteristics, she'll turn under a big hid with 80 degree temps, but take that same girl and she can get crazy colored.
Hope ya don't mind a pic posted up????????? Here's a cold ass female. I can't remember the strain now but she almost went black with purple.

Here's another electric purple I grew. I do remember she was totally lacking in the potency department anyways. But she looked "HOT"
Purple_Bud_s_Rock.JPG

But I'm glad to see your expanding your back yard with some new genetics. All the same makes for a dull day. Least to me. All them new strains out there,,,,And I feel I need to do to the best of my ability, to grow them all out. Or die trying. Hope I got enough years to give it a fair run anyways............ I can hear you about the Swiss Cheese plant. I threw that one I grew in one of my largest pots and she hit 12+ foot acouple years back. Hella yield 2+ lb off her. One thing I found about her, was she got better with age. If ya got some extra put in a dark container and store in a cool spot for 2 months and she'll mature better than what you started with anyways. Looking great Les Keepem Green

They sure do, I think your right about both! :adore: :circle-of-love:

Seems pretty rare that one would actually attract the trichogamma wasps, rather than buying them, also seems like a bit too much work/energy/money for something that might not even help :allgood: Just my opinion though.

Directions for releasing trichogramma;
Release 5,000 (1 square/pack) per 5,000 square feet weekly, for 3-6 weeks.

AND they just fly away. I've tried praying mantises, I did them 2 years ago with egg casings, they were cool to watch grow and I think they helped, but they don't go after small little worms. Ladybugs are good for mites/thrips,etc, but not the best for worms.

The way the buds get infested is usually not by a worm swinging in on his rope, but rather moths look for aromatic, lush, and dense/colorful flowerheads to lay their eggs in. They fly in and drop their eggs right into a crevice of the bud, and the grower usually doesn't see such a microscopic spec amidst the forest of green.

So, after doing extreme battle (like NW has) for years, I figured out the only practical solution, for me, is to spray with azadirachtin (secondary neem metabolite) during the first ~4-5 weeks of flower and that does the trick for me, I'm apprehensive about spraying 'em as late as NW does tho ;)

I hear ya! Good to have you come in and take a peek. There's something about the color purple that just instills emotion in a human, or any organism - for that matter. Everything and everyone likes the purples :volcano-smiley: Great worm stories, I can relate a lot brother. I remember the "old days" when I was a total rookie at growing cannabis, I had harvested a crop, mostly dried, jarred etc. and then I noticed worms crawling up and inside the jar walls. I also remember them hittin the road and swinging on their silk out of the drying buds. Glad those days are over! :wood: I think it's safe to say we are both eternally grateful for finding a solution to the problem, for the most part. :high-five: :circle-of-love: :goodluck:

PS I enjoyed your pics! :thanks:
