Relaxed's 2014 Outdoor Medical Grow

Good morning Lester,

I'm pretty sure the Blackberry that I smoked (was awesome) was the strain you're growing/harvesting now. How fruity does it smell when freshly harvested? They look real tasty to me. As soon as my seeds come in, I'm dropping a Blackberry, since one AK48 seedling bit the dust.

Absolutely Beautiful Mr. Relaxed. :thumb::bravo::party:
Mahalo Med Man! :thanks: That means a lot coming from you and your glorious Hawaiian beauties! :Namaste: :circle-of-love:

Hey Good Mornings Herb :Hookah: To answer your question about the fruitiness, it definitely depends on which pheno ya get. There is a pheno which has a more light, sweet, and floral smell with a hint of pine. And the other pheno which is much much more fruity tooty, a little sour, and has the slightest slightest undertone of skunk. Over all, on the fruitiness scale of 1-10, I would rate the Blackberry strain to have a fruitiness level of 8.5/10. Not the fruitiest stuff that exists for sure, but it has the most unique flavor of rasberries, man it is some of the tastiest pot. Growing organically really helps bring out the flavors too, but I really think the ocean plays a role. Nothing will be fruitier than the mystery sativa strain I harvested last year I called "Sour Apple". This had a fruitiness level of 10/10 for sure guaranteed. It tasted and smelled exactly exactly like sour candy apple, unlike anything I've ever had for sure, so not quite as fruity as that diamond in the rough. But really nice none the less.

Strayed a little from your question but if we're talking about the fruitiest weed on the planet we need to mention that one :surf:

Yeah, that's what I had was the 2nd pheno. It was simply an awesome tasting smoke with very pleasant effects. I think I ordered Blackberries the next day I was so impressed. It's an awesome smoke, not to take away from your "Sour Apple" any. As soon as the seeds arrive I will germinate immediately and just let go until mid September. How high did your Blackberries actually grow too, did you just let them go or did you do any type of training? If my memory serves me right, you just let them go and forced flowered them. They are show stoppers!

Did you get bigger jars? :cheesygrinsmiley:

These are the force flowered Blackberry plants.

The three specimens on the right underwent 1 FIM and LST, the "bud-on-a-stick" specimen on the left did not get fimmed or LSTed at all. As you can see these specimens are small plants because they were put into flower so early in life.

And yes, I've got plenty of big jars :)

Thank you for the info my friend. I'll be doing the same, I have to grow them short & probably have to force flower the Blackberries. I am going to plant 2 just in case I lose one. If it looks like the won't make it outdoors, I'll just bring her in, but I really do want her outdoors. The AK48s are staying outdoors no matter what! They will be heavily trained, topped, lst'ed, Kyle's technique for super cropping.

I want that Blackberry for me, myself & I. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Sort of figured that you had bigger jars. :ganjamon:

Found some big 'ol caterpillars in the veg tent today. I guess the culprit of those munchings was infact not a grasshopper or cricket, but big 'ol loopers. They blend right into the cannabis because thats all they've eaten. They can be right in front of your face and you won't see em. I picked two fatties out, but as a precaution I am going to spray the veggers with a solution of Bt tonight. Got to make it easier for myself to manually inspect the plant, as it stands now, it is hard to physically get in there and inspect the canopy. There is some real bushier areas down below from where the KC-45 went into reveg like 2-3 months ago. So I gotta do a little bit of trimming and moving plants around and repotting.

The final Blackberry plants I'm fixing to get their harvest in within the next 7 days and finish that chapter up completely. Tonight I will put one nice little KC-45 specimen into force flower. After I get the BB harvested I'll move another KC into force flower with it. I also plan on repotting the terracotta plant this week into a bigger pot with fresh soil. So hopefully I can kick some KC's into flower gear and make things a little easier to access and water. Right now it is basically hell to do any of that so I got lucky snagging those buggers today.

End of thoughts (for now)

Rtoledo, nice looking group of plants you have there...

Hello Lester. I see now that insects are a big problem on outdoor grows but they're only attacking one of my FIRE ESCAPE girls. I just sprayed them both with SNS 217. I've also been feeding my Veg tent girls with SNS 604A & my Bloom tent girls with SNS 604B along with my Broke Azz Cal/Mag concoction. I have to say I'm impressed with the SNS products.

Here's a couple of pics of the leafs the insects have been feasting on and the pigeons have been pooping on.

Aloha Relaxed Lester. :surf:

There is a product I use to kill just any anything...worms, whatever, It's called AzaMax. It isn't cheap, but you only feed it to your plants every other watering. I used it for years when I needed it. Works really well. Read up on it, it may be what will help you keep clear of critters. Peace old Buddy. :yummy:

 Haha, I saw your original post at conrads, that was hilarious ;) You know I have had this same problem with some of my bigger plants I use to have, the ones that grew up into the orange tree. The lady neighbor has a bazillion bird feeders so I was finding similar patches as well as empty bird seeds in my buds lol. Note to ones self if wishing to outdoor garden, do not put your pot plants underneath the telephone wire

The Sierra Natural Sciences SNS 604A & SNS 604B are a supplement for use with base nutrients.

That's true, they are a great supplemental addition. However they can also be used by themselves for a more "gentle" foliar spray or "comfort" water without too much solute. Sometimes, depending on how much my girls are eating, I like to simply water with a mild sea kelp solution to give them a break from their main lunches and dinners. :surf: :MoreNutes:

Hey Buddy! :ciao: I heard of this before but never looked into it until you mentioned it. I did some reading on it this morning and I am absolutely fascinated by this Azamax, especially from a biochemistry standpoint; Azadirachtin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The structure is absolutely fascinating, and I am blown away by its derivation. I am going to plan on ordering some very soon. Thanks for the golden tip OMM! :Namaste: Thank you so much :circle-of-love:

Aloha Brotha Great Night to ya :high-five:

Hey Aloha my friend! I Just woke Up and am feel much better today. There should be some Blackberry nugs ready to vaporize soon :cheertwo:
Big bud-on-a-stick is getting moderately dry, going to give it another ~ couple days at least before I put it into a jar.

I'm gonna go over what I did yesterday. First off, I harvested one of the Blackberry plants, the one that was most symmetrical. Looks like another solid half ounce after being dried. Just nice to have meds in the drying rack again. I decided to flush the last and remaining Blackberry plant which is the other more piney phenotype. It also has a lot more leaf which I will add to my MB2 machine collection. I am going to let that plant grow for a few more days than chop it.

Next, I transplanted two KC-45 specimens. The terracotta came out clean with a real nice root ball, she's in a 5-7 gallon black pot resting in the tent, I may let that one go all summer ,or if I can fit it into force flower I might just do that and open up some more room. As of now, we have 2 KC-45 specimens in force flower, awaiting some kind of response. Should take a solid 1-2 weeks before we are sure of what is happening. I'm betting I can get them to react. Doesn't sound like much but it was a lot of work. Now at least there is more room in the tent to move around and water.

I believe the count for the new batch of seeds (regular) is:

2 Blueberry x Santa Maria
3 Maui Waui
3 Swiss Cheese
0 Panama Red :rolleyes3

No luck with the Panama Red yet, that is unfortunate. Oh well, not going to cry over it. I may just try germinating one or two of my freebies seeds just to have one more strain to sample by the end, perhaps the NLxSKUNK since I heard so many good things about it.
Okay time to go pick some weeds and water the plants around the yard. The Strawberries need some love. :circle-of-love:

Over and Out :passitleft:

Oh Maui Wowie, can't wait to see that especially that I know more or less how it looks from my Hawaiian Skunk Haze sativa pheno, and it definitely loves high humidity, which is a must for my outdoor grows. Where are ya getting your beans from?

I was hoping it would deal with the humidity better. I like to have some of the lanky phenotypes interspersed between the bushy ones for nice and breezy airflow throughout the lower canopy. Often times, I've found big patches of botrytis growing on the stems down below. So the lanky tropical plants do really well for me here. It's also one reason why the KC-45 is a big thriver here on the ocean. I've found that not only do I enjoy my ocean tropical sativas, but they do better in my environment than bushy and really dense indicas. Although I like to have atleast one indica strain going because they usually finish around September 15th and so even if the rest of my crop gets lost to mold atleast I get something. It's another reason why I tend to force flower as much as possible, most of the most consistent herbs I grow are force flowered so I try to take advantage of it instead of leaving them for the wolves (mold/worms).. heh heh, maybe its not quite that bad, but close to! We've got word of El Nino this year and so it could be treacherous for my tent could fly away and be dessicated over night. I sure hope that doesn't happen. OMM had it happen to him, I remember the sight. Oh lordy... anyway conRad I got my KC-45 from KC Brains and I got my Blackberry, Maui Waui, and Swiss Cheese from Nivana/Sativa Seed bank from our sponsor Herbies.

Well, I've seen only one more source of Maui Wowie seeds except Nirvana. I saw their version and it doesn't look even close to pure sativa, but for sure is stable and produces good yield. Well, hope these plants will hit your sweet spot anyway. Panama is another interesting choice, Ace Seeds right?

About the Maui Waui - we'll see what happens. :Namaste:

The Panama Red seeds I got from a friend, and I'm not sure how fresh they were.

As far as pure sativas go, the KC-45 is about as pure sativa as I've ever came across. You should look into it if you have a lot of mold problems and cloudy days. The KC-45 must be derived from a Brazilian landrace strain, maybe even the one used to cross White Widow. We aren't sure, but even though they advertise it as an autoflower, I have seen photo sensitivity in my specimens, either way it was the purest sativa I'd ever had and the way it made me feel was very unique, can't wait to harvest some more.

" The exact origins of the mother plant remains somewhat of a mystery but the most educated guess is that it could possibly be the old school, Brazilian landrace Manga Rosa, which has a long history of spiritual use. " (in reference to White Widow) However, all that we know about KC-45 is that its sativa parent is a "Brazilian sativa", and the other half Ruderalis which I have seen no expression of.

Yeah, specifically sth iron resistant for humidity over 70% and with medium to high potency, long-lasting :) I'll find it eventually I'm sure. Popped some Pure Charas Plants, maybe I'll find sth here.
