Relaxed's 2014 Outdoor Medical Grow

Sisilla is looking super impressive Les, along with the rest. I'm glad you aired out your thoughts on Cheese. I had similar assumptions, but after reading your praise, I'm reconsidering my prejudices. Happy Thanksgiving my friend! :volcano-smiley:

Yep. That's another set. Your plants are like Venice - you can't take a bad photo of them. *Looks for 'Glorious' smiley*

Question, Lester: How many hours of daylight are you getting?

Mahalo for the feedback :ciao: They're excellent models and very photogenic. Not hard to take a good picture sometimes.

We're getting about 10 hours of daylight per day. But, of course not all of that is actually direct Sun for my ladies, lots of reflected light. Sister Zilla gets the first morning Sun right at Sunrise, and then will be partially shaded until the mid afternoon when she gets a good 2-3 hours of direct Sun. Only losing light now everyday so these new plants going into flower should be interesting :surf:

Hi Relaxed, thank you for sharing your efforts and I look forward to following your great journal - and this is quite the journal I might add :) I have not caught up on everything yet but one question if I may, is KC-45 the only auto in the group of strains you have going now? That KC-45 looks fantastik and super tasty! Great job. I am planning an outdoor gro for next spring here in Alaska and am considering strains and techniques. Glad to have found your journal - via having researched and found/read Mr. Teddy's last Greek journal which is also awesome I might add. Cheers and happy growing!

Hi there colorfuldayze :ciao:, always nice to have a new face in the journal. To be honest, this journal is coming close to an end! You missed out on the best part of the show, so I recommend you go back and read the entire journal from start to finish - you won't be disappointed (it's long!). About your question regarding the KC-45, although it's advertised as an autoflowering plant, I have seen 0 signs of that. They all flower and performed exactly like photoperiod plants. Not only have they been photoperiodic, but I have revegetated KC-45 phenotypes, as well as taken clones of clones - things you cannot normally do with autoflowering strains. The point is, the plant is extremely hardy, and will grow big plants with large buds if given the chance. The buds also seemed to be well adapted to clouds, low temperatures, and more wet environments. However, they truly prefer it hot and humid all the time. It is essentially a Brazilian land race strain that has been adapted to the Brazilian/Amazonian climate. Works perfect for me, but not so sure it would be the perfect thing for you being that far north in Alaska, these things take forever to flower, 60-90 days for sure. Do not grow these plants thinking they are autoflowers, because they are not.

Hope this helps, feel free to ask any questions if you have any, enjoy the journal! :) :thanks:

Aloha brother. I understand that is the general consensus about the Critical, however to be fair, it could depend on which phenotype you get, not to mention the environment. They do say it's better off grown indoors (which worries me in terms of mold), however you never know, it might be a nice treat (I hope :Namaste:), it's one of the reasons I just tossed it out there to flower, it's a nice looking plant, but if I don't like it I won't want to baby it for 6 months. What I do know is the Blueberry x SM is a major keeper and so I'm hoping to have a nice bush of it for Spring time.

Gonna spend some time today hunkering down the tent, putting in stakes, and tying up support strings for the big weeklong storm we're gonna have. As long as it's not super windy I think we'll be ok, other than all the buds are gonna be sagging pretty bad. :surf: Thankfully KC is designed for this type of weather and I'm not worried at all about mold on them. In fact, with this cleansing right before harvest I shouldn't even have to budwash :)

Yeah, the KC 45 is great, but only the male one I had expressed auto traits. Can't even remember what pheno it presented, though.

Thanks for the info Relaxed, very good to know. Sounds like a hardy beast indeed. I'm thinking that a greenhouse is the only realistic way to get an 'outdoor' (more like outside of the house) crop to maturity here. Catching up on your journal slow but sure! Thanks again, cheers

:yummy:

Your welcome. Some kind of tent/greenhouse is usually the way to go, my biggest problem is typically egg-laying moths which can turn a crop into a mess real quick. So anything to keep them out, the insulated, more stable environment is just a perk :)

Sis O' Zilla is looking to be very productive and frosty. :circle-of-love:

Hope everyone keeps their limbs on. :Namaste::peace:

Interesting you say that. Just finished battening down the hatches for the big storm. Spent a good couple hours putting more stakes, strings, and clips to keep them propped up. I doubt anyone would loose a limb, but I don't want all the buds sagging down and clumped together. Hopefully she fares well! It's up to mother nature now. :surf:

Yeah, they'll do crazy things, it's all a matter of probability. Apparently someone got them to flower under 24/0 light indoors. But for me outside, they just know to grow big so they don't auto. Not sure whether it's the batch of seeds either. But probability definitely comes into play :cheer:

There are some flowers on there that are getting pretty darn close, small buds, albeit. But the colas in the first picture are far behind the most mature flowers, half of the plant is essentially mature, and the other half premature - at this point in time. The stuff that is most mature is associated with the top part of the trunk. The colas in the first picture come off a branch that is the lowest on the trunk.
