Recess Is Over - Now To Muck Up The Lesson

Man I wish I could get my hands on some of that 90's aussie weed, that is what I'm searching for hehe, don't know what strain it is which is why I'm still searching  I was also thinking thai, png or some sort of sativa, maybe even mullum :thumb:

Once I truly stabilize the genetics of the 90's i'll see what i can do for you my friend :thumb: I'm lucky that I got it for sure. Mama Thai is a nice thai strain, I haven't grown anymore thai except for maybe the 90's (since it seems to have thai genetics) but WeaselCracker has grown more so he would be a good person to ask about thai genetics. I believe in the last few pages he and I discuss thai genetics so have a crack at that first if you want to. Where were you thinking of getting those seeds from?b Just out of curiosity

Aussie, this is interesting.. northern lights was one of the first strains I got off a dealer with a name attached. Around 91.. it and skunk were sold early, then strain names became non existent in my mull world..

Ok.. so it sounds like on purchase all the nl lines were actually different seedlots of the NL family... not cuts.
That's right OS. I did go to the States later and pick up the original U.S. NL5 mother and it was as it was described to me, part Thai. But my NL5 didn't seem to have any Thai influence. I spent a lot of time analysing the NL lines, in particular NL5.

I only saw evidence of two indica male lines in the NL series and that was NL1 and NL2. My best bet was that NL5 was a combination of NL1 male line and US NL5 female. I guessed that US5 was 50% NL2. Northern Lights 2x5 was the best that I could do staying within the line (pure NL).

Northern Lights changed the face of cannabis genetics (and many a smoker), but it was mostly through NL5. You've got to marvel at fate for dropping that one extreme plant into the lap of a budding seed breeder.

Stuff if, let them come at me  it where I'm at at the moment  night go to mns if you want the early flavours..

Awesome news, Most of the stuff I have grown over my lifetime has never had a name to it, was seeds passed on through my dads friends and their families all spread over NSW, most of the stuff we grew was all known as outdoor, massive sativa plants that yield really well, has only been the last few years I have been buying seed and have quite a good stock and selection nowadays but nothing really id call aussie weed, mostly all imported from dutch or US. My dads mate gave me a container a few years back which had about 650 seeds in there, I grew a few out and seems to be a mango sativa strain, my dad gave me a pack of about 40 seeds which he had been holding onto for about 15 years which are the ones I'm currently trying to germinate with no luck, also have a feeling it could be similar to what you have :thumb: All I need is one to pop up and I will be happy, be it male or female I will cube it back to being a workable line :)
Got a whole heap of the thai sativas to get through but I'm not even going to try indoors, will have to wait till next outdoor season, just started a few indicas indoors now as I have been growing sativas for the past few years and need a break

Yeah oz hasn't been a place for names really until the past recent years. It has been good/bad bush or hydro for a while. Man I hope i have some of that mango sativa in my seed mix as i said before some of them are from Sydney/NSW area so it could be possible. I'm interested in the buddha seeds as well as the purple hair. I'm pretty sure the buddha will be close to if not THE laughing buddha weed of older times. I've only got 2 varieties that would be considered commercial now, Afghani and Mama Thai but the rest are a lolly bag of sweetness. A tip for your older seeds is that if they tend not to pop, line some sought of container with sand paper and give the seeds a scuffing in said container by shaking the seeds around in the container. Man that number of seeds though is nice to play with :cheertwo:

Our auzzie land does well for sativas which is great. 8/10 of our plants this year were sativa dominant. They sure like to stretch haha, one of ours got to at least 3-4m which is decent for an urban grow  Variety is the spice of life, get those indica's going for the night time sleepy weed and keep your sativa's for the daytime :thumb:

See I find that weird but we always had names... but we sort of had a large group of smoking buddies and we used to order seeds fron I think sensi seeds back then and between us we sort of knew what each other had. I may be wrong with sensi but it was a long way back and it was one of the long term Amsterdam mobs. Guess I was just in a good group of pot heads at the time.
But we had plenty of unnamed weed we got and smoked too.

And then somewhere white widow came in and everything in my world was saturated with that for a long long time. Until the last few years but I had a 10 sabbatical from the weed too.

The mangos are awesome but really need room to grow them, My dad always goes on about the old Buddha he got growing up, would be amazing to find that again and give him some :) I have tried just about everything with these older seeds, sand paper, soaked them, paper towels, straight in soil, h2o2, ga3  I'm down to about 10 left from the 40 so trying the natural approach in my new greenhouse this time around, as I said I only need one to pop, if I find that I will throw the rest in and see if anything else pops up to create a quick f2 but if not I will spend as much time as needed to bring it back :thumb:
I didn't have much luck outdoors this season, I was too focused on indoor stuff and threw a few clones out there that couldn't decide if they wanted to start flowering or not which really screwed with their veg time, had a nice c99 (if you can call it that) outside but the weather turned for the worse before she was done, went moldy and the whole plant ended up on the bonfire
As for variety though if you have seen my garden there is plenty to choose from

Never had names here, hydro or bush, mostly just hydro as the bush we smoked was ours lol, always heard of strain names and such but nothing linked to the pot I was buying, strange thing is hydro all tasted the same but some was potent and other couldn't get a first timer stoned

We had others shit to concern our minds/wallets with than buying free dope seeds or silly names  wasn't easy getting some speed acid door fee rent and food whilst st school or on an apprentice wage

Hash was sold early 90's, lots come from this way,off a boat. Same with heroin, until boat hit a sandbar and barrels of smack were all along the coast line and floating around the bay  locals had tee shirts made  I think after hash there was compressed Buddha everywhere.. man these are some foggy memories

All over the news when it happened..
