RC grows White Widow with CFLs!

Hey, rc! Just caught up with your new grow. Great work!
It's funny. My bro and I were playing MOH Vanguard last night. Saw that one in your pic too. lol
Really nice LST job. Sweet cloning technique. 100% wow! Still looking for a method that works for me. I'll give yours a shot. Your WW is living up to it's name. Amazing trich coverage! It's only week 3 you said? By the end you'll need to wear shades just to look at the buds!:smokin:

also my white widow mother is starting to turn purple, maybe a molybdenum defeciency? looks similar to the Cannabis Plant and Pest Problem Solver - Pictorial thread

thinking of foliar spray with Miracle-Gro Bloom Booster flower food water soluable powder 0.0005% Molybdenum (Mo)

but how much do i need to cut it down, its 15-30-15 @ 1/2 Tsp/1gal

Excellent work my friend, world class looking crop. Thanks for the info on those CFL's, I'll be checking them out for my next grow!

thanks everyone and thank you for following along. today i have a quick update, a couple questions and a bunch of pics.

as far as the mother, anyone know if that looks like a molybdenum defeciency? i did foliar feed with some 15-30-15 miracle-gro which has 0.0005% Molybdenum (Mo). she also seems to be having a slight spidermite (i believe) problem. no webs, just lil whitish egg looking things under the leaves and tiny white specks on the tops. wont be able to afford the neem oil until NEXT friday:( might look up some home made treatments. any tips?

ok and quick question about the flowering girls. is it normal for lower leaves to start yellowing and falling off a few weeks into flower. all my indoor plants seem to do this to me, to the point of having no leave except around the buds left on the plant in the last couple weeks. now my white widow girls are doing it. last night i flushed the 2 LSTd twins and fed them 15-30-15 to see if that helps. i know its normal to lose some leaves but just how much is too much? btw PH kept around 5.9-6.0

oh yeah, and i gotta get these pics posted fast, bout to head out to pick up a small amount of GDP ;) im pretty excited, this stuff is pretty much 100% purple, will take pics ;)

here we go

thanks DroJo
Yay were at the end of week 4! not too much longer and i will be enjoying this fine herb.

i noticed some spidermites in my flower room now :( and even worse on the 2 LSTd WW clones :( might have to break the bank for some neem before its too late to do anything!

but on the bright side they should really start plumping up now and i see the trichs starting on the FIMd WW clone! RoorRip
:welcome:
:thankyou:

DocBud, thanks for the heads up, i was wondering about the purp stems, not quite as purple as they look in the pics from the soft white bulbs, but still red. i wasnt sure if it was from genetics, nutes, or from temps. temps dropped down around 50F a couple nights after i put them in flower, suprised me even.

about the spidermites, gonna go grab some neem in a couple hours, any tips on applying it?

DocBud, also about the WW strain, i see most places say about 8wks flower time but just read that if i let go 10 weeks i will see alot more trich production. how long did yours flower? and do you think they could have gone longer with much difference?

thanks

not much to update on today. bought some neem oil and applied to all of the plants in veg and flower, hope it helps

them FIMd clone you can really notice a difference in bud size and frostyness!

heres some random pics of the flowering WW clones before them neem treatment!

Hey bro!
I suppose the purple could be from the temps. I'm pretty sure WW isn't supposed to be purple.

Regarding spidermites, I did win the battle....I harvested....but I did not kill all the mites. I knocked them down, killed the live ones, but never quite got all the eggs. So, I had a small infestation right until the very end. My yield was good, so I don't think they messed up the grow.

I've heard that neem tastes like crap....so don't use too much of it. Also, from what I've been able to read and learn about these SOB's (mites) it's easy to create spider mites that are immune to your pesticides. For that reason, use the Azatrol or Azamax, as their action does not create super mites.

Whatever you do, spray several times, 2-5 days in between applications.
My spidermite tactics were as follows:

Sprayed with Neem. At lights out, make sure to get the underside of the leaves good and wet.

A few days after that, I sprayed with Doctor Doom Spider Mite Knockout.

A few days after that, I sprayed with Azatrol

About 2 weeks after that I sprayed with Doctor Doom again, because you can't taste it, it's safe, and can be used up until the day of harvest. I did my final spray about a week prior to harvest.

I've added floramite to my arsenal for the next grow. And, I bombed my room and have Hot Shot No Pest Strips hanging in there right now. I'm gonna remove them on Monday and get the next grow started.

Regarding flowering time, I went by tricomes and harvested with about 10-20% amber. There were still some clear ones, and of course lots of cloudy.

Some experienced growers told me that I could have gone longer, but that it smokes better when harvested at the time I did. I lost a bit of yield, but still got over 2 ounces trimmed and dried from a single plant.

Total flowering time for WW was 63 days.....nine weeks.

I hope this helps.

i must admit that the buds the seed came from had a fair amount of purple in them, first time ive seen purple in white widow, but it was even whiter than most WWs i tried and tasted, smelled, and high was the same as the usual WW so i dont know if maybe it got crossed with something else or a rare pheno or what. nugs came from a mendocino meds dispens and claimed to be WW
