SPT +5 Weeks (38 Days)

Blinky: 2 1/2" / 63.5mm
Inky: NM
Pinky: NM

Well, this is rather anticlimactic, considering it is the update on 4/20 for the girls; but there really hasn't been anything of any significance to post about; at least nothing warranting more than a single group photo.

Blinky has gained some respectable height, and Pinky has as well, plus Pinky has gained notably more "mass" for lack of a better description than either of her sisters. She is the one that is in all Miracle Gro soil. Inky is becoming the runt of the three. Not sure if it is because of zero "good stuff" content, just yard soil, not getting the ideal lighting spots, or perhaps a few too many sunflower guttersnipe companions. At any rate, I will go ahead and get rid of all of them. Don't really need sunflowers sharing resources. Other stuff still companions nicely though. In fact, they may each be getting a garlic butt soon. If so, it will be revealed in next week's update.

Okay, so 2 pictures for the 4/20 update then...

CP-Journal-Seedsman-PGC-Fem-32.jpg

Hopefully that will give her some breathing room. And FWIW, the habanero companions for Inky and Pinky are struggling real bad, and may get replaced with the tabascos that have finally sprouted. We will see. The scallion companions are doing great all around.

Not much else to report. Going to hopefully give them all some outside time tomorrow. A little too windy now, and a bit too late in the day to bother for today.

Now to go enjoy a bowl of Feyleaf on 2024-04-20/04:20...

SPT +6 Weeks (44 Days)

Blinky: 3" / 76.2mm
Inky: NM
Pinky: NM

Sadly, the past week has been largely uneventful for the girls, thanks to Ma Nature giving us the seemingly unending middle finger, with the next a 3 night stretch of freezing and slight subfreezing temps starting Monday night...

Once we are done with that bullshit, then hopefully the girls can spend much more time outside, perhaps even all nighters now and then in hopes getting au naturale time might spur their growth.

Blinky has gained a half inch since last week's update, but she is otherwise looking rather puny and anemic. Hopefully upcoming better days will kick her into high gear before she gets planted end of May or 1st of June.

CP-Journal-Seedsman-PGC-Fem-34.jpg

Inky is coming along slowly as well. She is the one in mostly yard dirt with a thick layer of Miracle Gro planting soil. Whether the soil is a factor or not, I still have no idea. It could just be the environmental conditions (slow Spring, so to speak, and mediocre lighting. We will see, of course, if she fares better once warmer days come.

Her scallion companion is growing nicely, and the greens are even nommable if I wanted. The morning glory and zinnia are struggling along, but aren't dead yet; unlike the Habanero. Will replace it with something else soon.

CP-Journal-Seedsman-PGC-Fem-35.jpg

Pinky is doing much better than her sisters; and I think the All Miracle Gro soil content for her may in fact be a factor. She still hasn't cleared the lip of her bucket yet, so no measurement to take.

CP-Journal-Seedsman-PGC-Fem-36.jpg

Her habanero companion also bit it. The scallion is doing fine though, as is the garlic that is being grown from a bud sprouted in water.

Still not sure how our forecasters are coming up with it being in the high 50s right now, when stepping outside, it feels much closer to freezing. Starting to think most forecasting is just more pseudoscience with about the accuracy of mere guessing.

We are getting there...I think...

Have a 32 coming up Tuesday night, then it swings back up from freezing after that. Not certain if that 32 will harm the plants if they are outside in it...or that 33 the next night. Stuff will be migrated back indoors ion the freeze night just in case though, and cannabis plants are staying inside until Wednesday. So close to planting, I am NOT going to do anything to fuck these babies up.

Blinky is planted out in the cage now, along with my Feyleaf, Bubblegum Lite, and Birthday Spanking primaries.

Here she is in her honored spot in the SW corner.

SPT: +11 Weeks (79 Days)

CP-Journal-Seedsman-PGC-Fem-38.jpg

Meanwhile, Inky and Pinky are now getting regular outside time, and will likely remain outdoor girls through most of the season.

CP-Journal-Seedsman-PGC-Fem-39.jpg

Inky seems to really be struggling. She is the one that is in almost all yard. Probably going to have to add Miracle Gro soil or something similar once she is tall enough to where I can actually fill in the rest of the bucket; if she ever does.

CP-Journal-Seedsman-PGC-Fem-40.jpg

Pinky is faring better, though she is still a long way from clearing the rim of her bucket. Hopefully, the girls now getting proper sunlight will get them growing finally, though I have very little confidence that Inky will survive. No idea why she is still so tiny. Only difference is the mostly yard dirt for one vs all MG soil for the other.

They had a nice growth spurt not long after they went out on the back deck. The main one in the cage seemed to be slowest to kick into high gear, but she is doing fine too. Actually, I think her slowness is deceptive. Just remembered she was buried almost up to the neck when planted... Should get some pics soon, when I remember.

Finally time for an update on this project. First, as also shown in my Journal for the 2024 grow in general, we have Blinky, Subject:00 happily growing up in the SW corner of the cage out back.

And then on deck (literally...since they are being kept on the back deck)...

I'm thinking that next month, possibly sooner, even, I am going to take a pair of cuttings from all three and try to clone. And also quite possibly, as a midseason or post season project, I just might get Clyde and Sue started, and attempt to make feminized pollen from them which they can then use to pollinate each other, or their siblings' clones. I think I am grokking how best to accomplish this now...

Very interesting that all three PGCs (still have 2 seeds in reserve) are already well flowered and budding...at least Blinky and Inky are. Pinky seems to be going a bit slower. The other two flowered around the same time as most of my unexpected boys did, like the Bubblegum Lite and Birthday Spanking out in the cage; and it isn't even September yet.

This has me wondering if the PGCs may have some autoflower genes or something? The Feyleaf out in the cage still looks unflowered, and likely should not be flowering until the Equinox. Right?

This is a good one to make pollen with and reproduce!

Sunday Sept 22 is equinox and our outdoor plants get first pistils(flower starts) on August 15/16th pretty much every year. I think they sense the nights getting longer and at some point get to flowering and the actual equinox isn't the actual time it starts.

Thanks for the further clarification on the whole Equinox thing.

That said, it does appear that Feyleaf (can't quite tell with Blinky yet) seems to be with seed. Though at this point, it is just a small few seed pods, so could be self pollinated, but unlikely, so am going to declare these Feyleaf Lite:2024 instead of Feyleaf-Generation:01(f)/2024 (f for feminized if they were self pollinated).

CP-Journal-Seedsman-PGC-Fem-43 - Inky and Pinky Flowered.jpg

In other news, PGC S:01, Inky also appears to be with seed. These, considering how many there appear to be, are going to be declared Purple Ghost Candy Lite (aka Ravenplume-Seedsman PGC Lite), though no idea who the pollen provider was, unless I get at least 5 girls in a row, then will consider redesignating them to RPSM Purple Ghost Candy:2024(f), as that many in a row would be a decent indicator that she self pollinated and made her own feminized seeds. Pinky appears unmolested and seems to be growing out perfectly normal. I may still attempt to take cuttings from her, and then try revegging in the process.
CP-Journal-Seedsman-PGC-Fem-44 - Inky Seeded.jpg

And @SeedsMan... If you see this, and these seeds end up being viable (and no reason they shouldn't be), would you want me to pop off a few back to you for whatever purposes you might find for them?

I think those are bracts Raven. I checked my plants and they all have them in the same places. They are able to make a seed there and do at times. I have found single seeds there on a blueberry plant and no other seeds were made. They do get nice and plump and look seeded but not all are. Few actually. :) Look to all the nice white hairs on the flowers and that should tell you she's clear of pollen. After they get a pollen piece on them they go brown.

This should be the last project update, then I am caught up and should likely have very little to report in any journals until harvest, I think.

CP-Journal-Seedsman-PGC-Fem-43 - S00 - Blinky.jpg

Starting with @SeedsMan Purple Ghost Candy S:00 - Blinky, sitting pretty at about 44 inches tall as of yesterday's measurement. She smells quite nice, and my tape measure somehow got rather sticky brushing against her when I took the measurements. I suspect her bud is going to be quite pleasant...

CP-Journal-Seedsman-PGC-Fem-44 - S00 - Blinky with Seeds.jpg

...in spite of being heavily laden with seeds due to us waving a couple of branches from the Birthday Spanking-Pair:00/Generation:00/2023 boy we removed (replaced with Bitter Sweet Pie Lite). The seeds, being half breed will be Purple Ghost Candy Lite, and in fact, designated RPSM PGC-Lite-Pair:00/2024. Being initially from pure Seedsman PGCs and then pollinated with Ravenplume BSDP pollen and grown in Ravenplume conditions, we share the "source designator" :)

I also intend to attempt to Winter her this year and see if she comes back next Spring. Only toyed with that once with no success though. So, to Winter a plant, I just leave the bottom node in place and cover with a blanket to keep it from freezing to death. Right? Or is there more to it than that.

CP-Journal-Seedsman-PGC-Fem-45 - S01 - Inky.jpg

S:01 Inky has done quite well out on the back deck in her 5 gallon bucket, and looks like she will significantly add to the harvest when the time comes.

CP-Journal-Seedsman-PGC-Fem-46 - S01 - Inky with Seeds.jpg

She is also heavily pollinated, by an unknown male, or multiple unknown males. Unlike Gang bang pollination, where they boys are all known, I am calling this Free Love pollination. The seeds from these will be RPSM PGC-Lite-Pair:01/2024

CP-Journal-Seedsman-PGC-Fem-47 - S02 - Pinky.jpg

And S:03 Pinky is pretty much same story, lots of lovely buds, and heavy with seed, again due to Free Love Pollination. I also noticed her leaves (not the actual faded and drying out ones) are notably a lighter shade of green than her sisters. Possibly some little genetic differences there? Definitely enough to maintain separate lineages, though once I get to cloning and feminizing, there is going to be a lot of sibling revelry happening to mix things up even more...

CP-Journal-Seedsman-PGC-Fem-48 - S02 - Pinky with Seeds.jpg

Her seeds, will of course be RPSM PGC-Lite-Pair:02/2024.

Not much to report any further. Just letting them cruise into Fall and harvest now, and watering regularly.

S:00 - Blinky 44" (1.12m)
S:01 - Inky 27" (68.6cm)
S:02 - Pinky 37" (94cm)

Still holding off on getting the last two, Clyde and Sue going. I am saving those until my skills are leveled up better and I have clonings and feminizings well under my belt.

Lastly, I have determined that in addition to trying the PGC in my usual pipe, bubbler, toker, and vaporizor, I will attempt to roll a PGC joint using the hemp rolling papers that came with the seeds. Guess it is time to learn how to actually roll a J. At least I have plenty of Top rolling papers to practice with left over from my last failed attempts.

WooHoo! They look super! Hope you got that J rolled and a few hits got! I can't keep my fingers out of the jar here! What did you think?

Wintering over. I think they could possibly winter. They're designed to seed, die, and re-grow that way but we do sometimes re-veg if an emergency comes up. It'll be a tough one, I wouldn't think it can hard freeze and come back. Good luck if you do!

What’s up Raven?

Hmm think Oregon is too far north, afaik- only way to safely overwinter is to dig her up, do root pruning and down can to a smaller container. Root pruning sets the stage, do your harvest and all but you gotta leave fans & foliage intact for photosynthesis and to keep drawing sap. The root pruning says it’s time for reset- it’s no longer time to veg or time to flower it’s time to regroup for next year,

You could mulch her in but feel confident temps will kick her to the curb.

gotta catch up over here soon! Peace out
