If one wants their flowers to absorb color and/or flavors from a liquid, I would think the cut flower solution would work best. ,
Cut your flowers, stand them upright in a vase of liquid, and let them absorb the liquid before hanging to dry.
This would undoubtedly bring in more of the modifying liquid than depending on the roots to absorb, even if only through capillary action.
P.S. Done this way, you can experiment with one or two branches and not destroy your whole grow.
