Random Thoughts: Plants & Genetics

Did subcool keep the Jesus og in his line up. It's a good one for sure. His current line up is interesting. I've never tried master kush
Good question I would think so, but not sure I will ask him and let u know!!

I'm not sure about that. Subcool seems to just come up with more hybrids nowadays. Lots of hybrids have not been redone. I got my seeds a long time ago. As with a lot of my regular strains like it they are kept for when I have more time to grow them right. The last 2 years have been weird knowing I was not going to be able to save anything. Only growing stuff I have lots of or are feminized and replaceable.

The one thing that sets TGA Subcool above lots of the others. He knows he can't do it alone and works great with others. One person can only have so many great phenos. A group of people can have lots more. Subcool seeds are made from different people. Kind of like 9lb Hammer Bred by someone else and released by TGA. You can tell some by the different packaging.

Lots have changed over the last few years growing. I kind of adapt as I go. 2 years ago when my 600 watt HPS crapped out on me I only had a 1000 watt to replace it, After seeing how well those plants packed on buds I never looked back and have been growing with just the 1000 watt lights. My first years with only 1000 watt lights is also the first years of Powdery Mildew. Everything has been a hassle since. So the last few crops I have been fighting other battles. I never did get a chance to really see what 1000 watts can do.

This year I am getting a idea. Part of my problem has been the explosive growth. I don't know that I have every found the perfect combination of light and nutrients. The lights are doing their part I just need to learn to feed them to continue that growth.

That is the thing about upgrading only part of your grow system. By adding tons more light I created a new environment that had new needs. If I hadn't had all the problems I should have noticed this before now. I didn't know it was one of my problems last year. Some of what I thought was because of PM might have just been the plant telling me it wanted more food. I was limited at first because of the product I used to control PM was a soil treatment. Now with floral and everything else solved different stuff is showing up.

Not that anything is going wrong now. All is good. That is why I can see that it was a problem. Even If I had shared all this in journals. I probably wouldn't have caught it. I never go back and read my stuff LOL. Learn as you grow folks.

I wasn't to sure how many they kept going. Too damn many to keep track of. They are improving on lots of the genetics of some strains. Making it better instead of making it the same. So some of their strains will be obsolete because of newer genetics of their own coming out.

They have dropped a few and added some really interesting ones. I'm looking at one called vanilla tart which is cookies and cream x space queen. I've wanted cookies and cream for years, but didn't want to drop 200$ on the seeds. My 9lb hammer's are from his old line up. A collaboration with Jinxproof. Stop by and see them flower out

Thanks I needed to do that. If I forget show me pics here if you want. I still have one pack of 9lb Hammer. Space Queen has did good things to lots of strains definitely worth a look.

$ 200 seeds are hard to buy. I wasted $280 on Lavender seeds one time. On the other side of the coin. Great genetics are not cheap. High dollar seeds are only worth while for a experienced grower ready to carry on those genetics one way or another. The right clone mother is worth well over $200

I can't afford to pay for that much. But 60$ is fair for 5. I'm going to take clones this week and flip after clones take root. Only one showed sex early. Out of the 3 I'm hoping for a male to make some seeds. Will be first time breeding for me

I have to agree. I don't mind paying higher prices if I want a certain strain. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullets and do it.

The seeds that rare in the 50 to $60 range are a easy buy. Good chance you are going to get good plants without breaking the bank. If things don't go great you don't lose your ass.

I spent some time getting pictures yesterday. Too damn many to do Gorilla Zkittlez here so I am going to post pictures in Seeds and Strains. Here is a peak at the tent

Everything is still looking nice at this point. Leaves are getting a spot here and there. Small problems are starting to show. Nothing bad enough to try and fix at this point. 0-16-0 bat guano and water is all I plan to give them from here on out. Going fairly lite with it as this is the first time I have used this one. My last bud builder was 0-7-0. This is the time of flower when I tend to let things just coast. The mistakes you make trying to fix a small problem can create larger ones. If the are healthy now they should finish fine. Which is what the Cinderella 99's are doing. Red hairs are already showing up on most of the C-99 plants.

Here is a sneak peak at a couple other strains.

Alpha Dawg.

Killer Queen

I am really happy. This is as well as things have went for a long time. The fact that I can keep plants alive through hard times helps. I can usually pull out a decent crop with good genetics. It is really cool to see them do great like they are now. Makes me feel like I really can grow LMAO.

I still can't get ahead of myself yet. There is still at least a month to go for most strains. Plant needs at this point is what makes it easier. All the major growing is done. Now they are just building buds. If I don't overdo bloom buster, not much can go to horribly wrong. I want everything flushed really well this time. If I gave the plants nothing but water from here on out I would get finished buds. I am just trying to add a little size to them buds. I at least want all the nitrogen out of the soil and the plant. I think residual nitrogen was my main problem last time. By trying to catch up with nitrogin late I ended up with more in the soil and plant then they use at that time in flower. I think anyway LMAO.

Today I am going to show the 2 Cannalope Haze phenos. 2 plants look like the first plant I grew. That is a good thing. I REALLY like that plant. The neat thing is the sativa looking pheno. It has a great sweet sativa smell. This may be the cannalope of Cannalope Haze. The one I like has a strong Haze flavor.

This is the sweet pheno. I really like how this plant is shaping up. Different stuff is always nice. Sometimes it is that odd pheno that turns out to be killer.

The other 2 plants are the same. This doesn't make big buds just lots of fat hard nugs.I got 2 oz's off the first Cannalope Haze I grew. This one might do close to that.

I am really glad I ran the feminized Cannalope one more time before I try the regular seeds. I will learn a lot from these 3 plants. All in all things are good. Gremlins are staying away as of now.

As much as I have bitched about Snowdawg. One of its phenos is the biggest plant in the grow. If I could get a plant like this with the crystals like the Gorilla Zkittlez I would be happy forever LMAO.

There is still hope for the 2 bushy phenos. The third who knows. If this plant fills out all these buds it could be my biggest plant in years.

The flavor I got and fell in love with was all Haze. The flavor was so good you almost got higher from the exhale. It had hard nobby buds. Pheno #1 has a different growth pattern and a lot sweeter smell. I don't know what it will be like. My biggest worry was I had a great pheno before and the strain will never be able to match it. Looks like they are both frosty as hell so strength should be a huge issue. With only one plant to base everything on I wasn't really sure I was going to like this strain as much the second time. Worry was all it was. Everything is looking as it should.
