Random Seed Let's See What Happens

So first things first I'm a complete amateur. At the moment I'm basically just using this as a bit of a learning project but nevertheless I'd like to keep track and if anyone could offer any tips etc then please do.

A brief rundown of my "Setup" using an old water tank cupboard in my room that's been cleared out and has a door etc.

I have 2x 300w LED lights.
Current Soil using is the canna coco professional plus.
The current "grow nutrients" I have are regional nutrients for my area but I'm considering just buying the nutrients that canna reccomend with this soil.

I only started with nutes today at about a 35-50% strength. Ph at 5.6.

have only recently been transplanted into it's new pot a couple of days ago.

Now take note the seeds i currently have, i have no idea what they are, theyve just collected over time. germination was done in paper towels in a bowl. 5 seeds, 3 germinated successfully but only 1 was able to sprout

This is today after a 1 litre water of 50% the recommended strength of the nutes.
I don't really have a feeding or watering schedule. I generally just go by the weight of the pot to decide when to water it. Should I be using nutes every time I water or should I give it breaks etc?

any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time and I hope this can come to fruition!

P.S start date of the whole "grow" (including germination time) was the 1st of November. it was stuck developing in a small pot untill a week or two ago due to some other goings on that needed my attention.

Hi and welcome to the journal section
Bag seeds are always fun to grow so be prepared for a surprise smoke :)
Light is just fine. Might want to juice it upgir flower later.
Soil is a good choice. :thumb:

Just a few pointers..

Let's see....
First, do you have anything to air out the roots?
Perlite for example?
The bottom of pot, where the roots are, gets quite mushy.
No worries, you will have to up pot them, then just add a good layer of perlite in the bottom of pot and mix soil with some.
2nd If this was an auto strain or you grow in coco or hempy(perlite only) you would need to feed them from start.
But, you have a good quality soil (lots of baby food in it) , and no idea what seed you have so I would say, hold off the nutes and let her eat from the soil.
Saves money too.
Be very careful when you water, and let her dry out really well, until you up pot her.

Thanks for the swift reply. the soil is actually a coco medium but this is the exact one Coco Professional Plant Medium for the Professional Gardener | CANNA UK . I'll be purchasing some clay balls and perlite in the next coming days, could you advise on a pot size that I can essentially use till the end?.

Many thanks again

Sorry I missed the coco part in the soil, my bad..
We will wait a bit to see how she grows, but we have to be careful here.
If she is an auto, she doesn't want to many up pots
If she is a pheno you have to ways of up potting.. Go medium then large..
I would not use the clay things in the bottom of pot coarse perlite is better.
Now, how big of a grow space do you have?
Vertical or horizontal is bigger?.
Do you want to top her?
If she is an auto, bad idea. So we leave that.
You could train her like this, but then she would have to be re potted pretty soon into a big pot (10 gallon/ ≈35 l.).
Or like this :

okay so coarse perlite, the space I've got is bigger vertically than horizontally, roughly 4 foot in width and length but about 2meters in height.

I'd like to attempt to top as she grows so that I can learn from it but I'm a bit intimidated by the more advanced techniques.

sidenote: the medium I used for germination / sprout. aka the small pot.
was a bit of an experimental mix of my own of coco, vermiculite, a small bit of peat moss. and fish, blood and bone meal with some potash and a tiny amount of calcium and magnesium (powder all mixed in to the main potting mix)

when repotting to the new canna medium I just left the original medium attached (to avoid disturbing the roots) and put it in the new medium and covered with a small layer of the new medium

A little update. It's perked up a bit since yesterday, not drooping as much and it seems to be glad of having the nutes. slightly adjusted height of lights.

Hope all is well in your world.

Is this grow still alive?

We would love to be updated with some pictures and info.

How about posting a 420 Strain Review?

If you need any help with posting photos, please read our Photo Gallery Tutorial.

I am moving this to Abandoned Journals until we get updates.

Sending you lots of love and positive energy.

Hi Amadeus,

Sorry I haven't really updated recently (anxiety related) but the grow is still very much alive and I have been capturing the process with pics I'll upload shortly

She's definitely a female. Short, stocky so I'm assuming Indica. She's in her first four days of flowering at the moment.

It's amazing how one can become almost enthralled by a plant, it is such a beautiful plant and the process has been very good therapy for my mind.

There's been a lot of mistakes made along the way, but please bare in mind this is my first ever grow from a completely random seed so I'm not expecting any yield really. I'm just learning the process.

I've been doing a bit of stem training but I don't like touching her too much. She gets misted daily.
