Radogast's Non-420 Garden Creation Thread

I take it the book lives up to the excitement she generated when she finally published? Sometimes it's difficult to keep the story vibrant through so many "episodes". I should look into that series. Historical fiction is my all-time favorite style of writing. How did I get so removed from reading? I should start taking time during the day again for the simple pleasure of reading.

The Outlander series has been out for decades. He's newest book is unexpected. ( Like when Isaac Asimov retired to the Foundation series. )

Her chapter titles contain clever and modern cultural references, but it didn't break the flow for me.

Happy Anniversary Rad. Please give my best to the lovely artist-in-residence. Is it rude to ask how many years of wedded bliss you've shared?

Coffee on the deck with a nice pipe to share. Listening to the sounds of your slice of paradise. That would be my choice. Whatever way you choose to show her that she rocks your world Rad, enjoy.

:circle-of-love:

Happy anniversary to you both!
You're a lucky man, Rado.

Beautiful land
trees cradling,
protecting Home and
the Beloved therein.

Good lord Ranger, I could listen to you talk all day long.

First year tulips are peaking

The tulips from the garden club are exceptionally pure colors

Also double blooms in yellow and red

The hyacinths in the backgrund are fading, but little grape hyacinths are blooming nearby :)

One of the few plants worth keeping that came with the house. (Bleeding hearts)

I found myself unexpectedly out of plantable seeds, so we went to the garden center for Mother's Day Plants :)
Came home with 7 plants and two wind chimes.

Pulmonaria planted by the Coral Bell past the Garden Faerie

Pennisetum 'Firecracker', tall grass, planted at the entry path to the Garden Faerie.

Yarrow 'Cerise Queen' planted in front of the green 'Limelight' hydrangea.

High Blueberry 'Pink Lemonade' and Raspberry 'Black Hawk' (a special friend of the house) just off the back porch.
They join the mother blueberry 'Reka' (20 clones in basement) and a tiny 'Pink Lemonade' from last year.

Mint 'Chocolate' went on the deck with other bug repellants.
This little herb was colonizing other 2" pots, so I gave it a large planter.

While out on the deck to take photos, Red Squirrel 'Hoppy' joined me for a peanut.

We came home with a wind gong and small wind chimes.
(They are both made by WoodStock, so tonally compatible with the existing chimes.)

Emperor Gong ( a 10" gong with a subtle 15" sound )

I constructed a hanger for the small chime out of a double trunk sampling, uprooted, dried, and returned to the earth upside down.

Besides the rose wind catcher and crystal clapper, this photo shows the hanger apppearing somewhat fey and dangling the chime from the right wrist. A perennial cinnamon fern is emerging to the right of the fairy.

Just to underline that today was an outdoor day, my loving wife and I took a stroll in the woods across the brook.

The wife behind a tree behind a more interesting tree.

No you can't see her, she's behind the tree!

Bark on a tree near the river.

We heard a King Fisher, but didn't see it. Mating dragonflies were observed and human kissing commenced.

The water level on the river has been high for months. This week, it has fallen well over a foot. This sand bar is usually a two foot wade. Last month it would have been a risky, 8 ft wide, fast water crossing. Today I could walk to it. In it's current, pond-like state, at least one bull frog has moved in.

The violets in this photo are real close to the waterline. I may go out tomorrow and harvest several violets for transplant.

Tata for now, I've been summoned to observe Mimosa the Marmot groundhog.

Geez we are lucky with the superb " lensmen"? We have on this site... I'll be looking through these photos thanks Radogast... Subbed...

Thank you so much for the violets.

In Paradisum.
Your thread has always transcended the mundane, and the Fey influence continues strongly from within and without. Hoppy liked his Offering, have there been others?

Blueberry "Pink Lemonade," Bleeding-hearts, Yarrow "Cerise Queen," you've found some of my favorites. I noticed Pink Lemonade liked to be w/like. Best in groups, like Tulips.
Gratitude

Earlier today Hoppy was eating from 2 inches below my hand. still won't take it from my fingers.
Mimosa is getting pretty casual about staying in the yard when I step out to do work.
The robins are disgusted at all the traffic through the front door and abandoned the new nest (the previous tenants probably always used the garage.) If the robins lay eggs, we will skip using the front door, like last year. Until that happens, family and visitors get to use the front door.

Yesterday, the crows set up a huge racket in the front yard. The tax assesor drove up to our house. NOT A KNOWN car!! My wife steps out the front door and the crows go quiet - watching. The humans converse in the driveway and the tax man goes to grab his measure and clip board. My wife tosses a handful of peanuts onto the ground. Tax man is surprised "You feed the crows?" Wife answers "How do you think I knew you drove down the lane?"

She has ALL the animals watching her when she steps outside the house - even the bluebirds pay attention. It's like living with Snow White.

Growing outdoors in New England is radically different than San Francisco and Arizona. I'm having limitted success so far. Thanks for the tip about High Blueberries. I grouped them close to the house to discourage deer foraging. They prefer the neighbor's fruit trees and the forest greens anyway.

Moonflower seed sprouted in the deck planter today. I had 0 moonflowers grow last year. I planted at least two times out in the yard,
