Radogast's Hi-Brix Basement Grow - New Location - New Soil - New Experiences

Ok thanx ill figure out sumthn to do ill prolly jus dump the soil out in my new garden im starting out back and mix in half garden soil with it and maybe that will help mellow things down or sumthn idk and ill prolly jus start using mighty grow organics for fertilizer/nutes its the stuff im using in my sponsorship then i can keep using the half bale of sunshine #4 i got left and plus the guy from mgo even told me that there product will produce high brix plants they just dont say it on the lable cause they havnt got the actual numbers for a proper brix reading so leagally they cant say its high brix but the guy told me it will produce hi brix plants tho and thats only 4 different bags and its just a tablespoon per gallon of medium for the nutes so its the easiet thing ive ever done lol and its only bout 80 bux so im guna see how my photo girl turns out an ill be getting a refactormeter 2 get a brix reading n if it does gud then i think i mite just go that way but thanx man for the info and it is what it is man dnt feel bad n yeah i dont learn that good at all it takes me a few times talkn things threw b4 i can fully grasp things and remember them some times i am a slow learner at times lol but eventually ill get all this down pat and i will find the perfect rythem that works for me i jus need to keep master growers like u and bb14 in my corner coaching me along i really do appreciate all the help brotha n i know i take awhile to get shit some times jus please bear with me on that lol but yea i had a quick question about some of my plants im noticing one of them the stems seem hollow and wen i squeeze them they jus crunch 2gether n fold over if i squeeze enuf and one branch even broke off and wen i looked at the bottom of the branch it was hollow is that normal and if not what can i do to make them alil more durable??

When I see a hollow stem plant, it's usually a garden weed.

It's an important question, I don't know the answer.

Well then ur actually spot on cause it is "garden weed" my garden weed lol only i wana keep this weed haha

More calcium will generally stop hollow stems & branches. :Namaste:
So if I made a act with gypsum in it wud that boost the calcium??

Are not certain strains more likely to have hollowed stem late in flower? I thought it was a late flower trait in sativa. "Just something I read somewhere " I dunno?

Well then Then I'd be really concerned cuz these are more indica lol idk I jus hope they make it wen it comes to flowering cuz it seems like any girthy buds will jus knock these branches to the dirt and I dnt wana see that

AK47 XTRM finshed her dry today. 84 grams dry, so it reached my 2.5 oz goal.
As far as I can tell, the AK47 XTRM is 50/50 hybrid of a 75% sativa AK47 crossed with a 75% indica White Widow XTRM ('white widow' crossed with Brazillian indica.) She delivers a great stone without couchlock.

My test smoke kicked me into a real nice place for many hours.

I watched others in the house take multiple snaps off the 3' bong - I don't know how they do it :)

This strain will go fast. I'll take another clone and see if I can squeeze two AK47 XTRM into the rotation.

- no pictures -

We had guests over, so I had to be a bit stealthy and forgot about pictures.

Again I could be wrong with my memory but I believe silica in addition to calcium will help keep strong branches, if that is what you are thinking. But Again if I recall, silica is a natural mineral which is very common in many things and may already be in your garden. But Silica help build stronger cells with thicker cell walls.

The gypsum or calcium sulfate I use is in my top dress, not sure about a ACT with it, not to say it cannot be done in an Tea, just not something I have done, however I water in my top dressing (or top the dressing with water)

For what it is worth I get hollowed stems in my indica dom strains could be lack of calcium. I have a picture somewhere just cannot find it. Would not be the first time I screwed up a grow.

rad i really appreciate it cuz i jus found out i got 60 gallons of worthless soil bb14 told me that the sunshine mix #4 wont work for buildasoil.coms los mix kit that i use and well i didnt hear back from him till a week after i mixed it all up and screwd it all up so if guna have to order another soil mite as well be the brix kit and finaly join u guys i think ill jus take the plunge and do it if i can afford it that is lol but yea thanx for the info on price

Wow... thanks for the props there Blaze... first off you sent me a PM. I'm sub'd to a lot of journals and so don't always get to see I have PMs which is why its best to post questions "to me" about growing on my journal. Also someone else with the same question may benefit from being able to read about it.

I didn't say you're 60 gal of soil was ruined either. You asked me if it was alright to substitute a bagged soil mix in for CSPM.

LOS soil is:
1/3 peat moss
1/3 humus
1/3 aeration
appropriate amount nutrient mix and rock dusts.
Water

That's it..... lets say I said ok sure go ahead and use the sunshine mix and your grow messes up... then what, I ruined your grow?

I thought your grow was going fine, are you not satisfied with your outcome and harvests?

Seems to be a tad early to be mixing up a new batch of soil after 1 round. I've gone as long as 9-10 rounds in LOS... and could go no-till for longer if I wanted to.

I'm in no way trying to persuade you keep going with the LOS organic method. I have no skin in this game, its just how I do it and many many others do as well.

Banging on me cause I didn't get back to your PM for a week in someone else's journal that I'm sub'd up to. I gotta call ya on that one bro. Not fair....

I'm sorry for your soil mix up.. (<--- see what I did there), You could have waited for my reply, as you know I ALWAYS get back to you be it in a PM or a post to my journal.

Hey BlazinJones and Bobrown.

You guys were working well together.

I have tons of respect for BoBrown14 - what he knows, what he grows, how helps folks out, how he understands Living Organix Soil (LOS.)
I have a lot of respect for BlazinJones - In that he listened to BoBrown14, and seemed to have a real knack for LOS - I didn't. I need more rules than the kind of observational green thumb that seems to do well with LOS.

I figure if BlazinJ is going to come blazin', he'd best come Blazin' for me - So don't y'all nevermind so much and be forgiving.

I'll say I'm sorry for my part.

I'm sorry.

I was going to say something earlier along the lines of "dont throw it out, I think its still good to use" but figured it wasnt my place as I havent even used my LOS yet...its still getting friendly with itself...plus I have never even had a successful grow lmao. I certainly think that mix is still functional, and better than anything you could use straight out of the bag. These soil recipes are a base to work from in my limited understanding.

Although I did take a few soil science classes in college...I think the thing I remember most is making "worms" to test the sand/loam/clay content. lol I should have payed more attention

Today was a big gardening day, first up Borderliner XTRM.

I started out giving Borderliner XTRM the extreme third degree, she has been very coy about how ripe she is.

Under the lampshade of truth, her trichmes showed cloudy

Borderliner XTRM pistils are toasted brown or pulling back into the calyx,

Borderliner XTRM (55 days) gets a final photo op before the chop

20170714_112801-1.jpg

Standing a mere 28 inches tall, I think she will meet the minimum standard of 2.5 oz per plant. Her clone will be vegged longer.

20170714_112835-1.jpg

Hanging up after the chop, wash, drip dry, and trim.

20170714_183956-1.jpg

I think her buds will be pretty when dry. She has a very strong aroma these first few hours after harvest.
Trimming stunk up the living room.

I lugged Carnival (51 days veg + 61 days flower) out of the flower area for photos and foliar spray.

20170714_113757-1.jpg

44" tall.

Three main colas

20170714_114236-1.jpg

I started a second round of Cat Drench yesterday.

20170714_114243-1.jpg

Under the yellow sodium light, these pistils looked totally white, Under the lampshade of truth, I can see her pistils darkening - a harbinger of harvest time :)

20170714_114228-1.jpg

I didn't have a lighter handy, so I found an old style lightbulb. I'm pleased with the size of the colas.

20170714_114049-1.jpg

I have a large space dehumidifier on the verge of icing keep humidity in the 60-70% range. I installed a second 16" oscillating fan.

20170714_114114-1.jpg

Her fan leaves are just starting to lose their chlorophyll. Soon they will begin to drop.

CBD Critical Cure (31 Days) 48" tall

20170714_115454-1.jpg

She's still has a little more stretch in her, but not much :) She did not want to be moved out of the flower area.

20170714_115226-1.jpg

She is only a few days into making buds.

20170714_115202-1.jpg

While CBD Critical Cure is mostly indica, this is obviously the sativa leaning pheno

20170714_115155-1.jpg

Looks like the stuff that used to come up from mexico,

20170714_115151-1.jpg

One last look back at CBD Critical Cure

20170714_115105-1-1.jpg

Delicatessen Lilly (2 weeks?) is the newest member of the flower area.

20170714_115803-1.jpg

After I took a photo of Lilly's canopy, I did a quick supercrop on the leader

20170714_115845-1.jpg

I've been having trouble getting girls to flow through late veg and into flower. Still, I should have let Lilly (front right) veg a few more inches. It's was very convenient to turn off the ballast for the four hanging COBs that had been lighting Borderliner XTRM.

20170714_122522-1.jpg

Agatha (nee Ace Mix) was needing water every other day. Yesterday, a batch of soil came available, so I let her be the first transplant.

20170714_155925-1.jpg

Agatha transpanted from a 2 liter to a 7 gallons pot. Agatha lives in the veg area (for now.)

20170714_155934-1.jpg

Only four 7-gallon pots can fit in my late veg area. Bubba's Gift revegging in the corner is taking up 1/4 of the real estate - slowing down the moves into flower. At least the reveg is now going strong.
